😂 Low hanging fruit (but funny & true). The easy fix for that and immediate act upon opening *ANY* Vostok is stunningly cheap & simple three-step process: 1) remove the crumby pressed hair-puller it comes on from the factory, 2) throw away factory brac; good riddance, and 3) slap that Vostok on a NATO (or an RAF, or a Marine Nationale, or a FKN rubber tropic or waffle, or a $10 AliX brac with solid links - I have Amphibias riding on all of those, I esp like it on a retro Willard style silicone waffle) and you have yourself a great, tough, quirky daily wear/beater.

I recognise this one. They also contacted me about reviewing one as well. I told them that I couldn't due to the name on the dial and that they should consider changing it. Their response was... At first watching the dial I thought: Well, this wasn't really that bad was it? Then instantly I noticed Vostok Amphibia. And after a huuge outburst of laughter, I knew this would be hilarious. And the gift kept on giving. "Automtic", LMAO! I mean, taking close inspirations (or even close to be called ripping off) from various design sources actually could work if you do it with at least some thought, and amount of taste and some own ideas and kinda somehow make it like a cool concept yadda, yadda. But this is obviously not like that lol. Great work as usual, Jody. Keep up the good work (and roast videos lol).

I purchased a Vostok watch a few years ago. I absolutely love the look of the watch but it was faulty from new. The automatic mechanism works but it does not hold any power reserve - so if you stop moving the watch stops. I would love to get it repaired or a new mechanism fitted but I don’t know anywhere in Melbourne where I can get it fixed.

904L is not significantly more costly to produce, and there's a good chance Chinese brands are able to get analogous steel at low cost. It's also not harder to machine. That said, in the pocket knife world, Aliexpress brands routinely misrepresent steel, so it stands to reason that they might in this case as well.

Had my first experiences of Aliexpress this year and have learned to be very wary. First was a "Pt5000 " which wasnt one, unable to get any redress. Then looking for a bauhaus style watch eventually got a Carnival for £52 which is excellent but I bypassed a $99 "Nomos" version, more convincing than this Vostok.

I have a different model Vostok Amphibia and I love it. Accurate and Rugged. You cannot hear it tick unless in a very quiet room and put your ear very near it and it ticks super fast. I looked up each and put in (parenthesis) On the face is printed Амфибия (Amphibia) Автоподзабод (Automatic) 31 камень (31 stones) Сделано в России (Made in Russia) On the back is engraved very deeply Амфибия (Amphibia) Противоударный (shockproof) Автоподзабод (automatic) водонепроницаемые 200М (water proof) I think I must have a real one 🙂
