I'm pretty sure I heard that in real life the SAS in this period refused to wear enemy uniforms because they did not want to risk being executed as spies (and probably also felt that kind of trickery was beneath them), so they actually did all these infiltrations in British uniform, relying on the fact that sentinels just wouldn't recognise it.

I don't if that is true, but there was a Brit who escaped captivity in France during the Napoleonic wars that wore his British Uniform on the streets of Paris. He just told everyone that he was in fact, an American. It worked.

Thats unfortunately an old wives tale

British SAS uniforms were clearly identifiable from Nazi uniforms, mainly due to the obvious lack of swastikas. The reality is that the SAS were mostly overrunning inexperienced troops that saw little combat beforehand in these missions. The vast majority of the combat veterans were on the front lines of Europe, not guarding random locations deep within their own territory of North Africa and Asia. The surprise and heavily strong handed appearance of the SAS was often enough to capture enemy troops by the dozen without even firing a shot.

@@ShaggyRogers1north Africa was one of only two front lines the German and Italian forces were fighting on at this stage of the war, along with Russia. So I don't think you can say this was a safe posting for inexperienced troops

@@MrAndy365 The relevant SAS missions in question were in North Africa, Europe, and Asia(primarily India and naval). The SAS didn't really perform a lot of these types of missions on the Eastern Front, because the Eastern Front was a meat grinder. The British uniform was also much more recognizable and distinguishable from anything remotely Nazi outside of North Africa. Basically all European forces used similar tan uniforms and culturally normal headscarves in North Africa, making such confusion believable for local forces vs European mainland counterparts. Outside North Africa, the grey Nazi uniform covered in swastikas would NEVER be confused with British uniforms that lacked all such symbology.

La audacia de estos hombres era totalmente inigualable y de ahí el éxito de sus incursiones. Genial esta escena en burlarse del control italiano estos miembros de los SAS.

All though this is a good watch I wished that nights activities was shown how that raid really played out, it would've been funnier and more unbelievable than the series shows here. ✌️🇬🇧

@u4tiwasdead No that is not true . "He who dears wins "is their motto and that is ingrained into them . There are many times that we know of when SAS wore the enemies uniform .

Aside from the beards.... Germans never had their hands in their pockets like that. Even in high alert scenarios
