I use the mustad brand Fastach clips which are more of a swivel on and off version... I do take any split rings off the front tow point however... never had a problem but I don't trust those snap clips. Keen to see that cranka minnow review

I have just gotten back into fishing again can do my knots with ease but i still choose to run a clip at the moment 22lb. The reason i am is because im trying lots of lures when i go out seeing what is working for my area. No issues with failures yet even bent the treble on a 65mm vibe when it got snagged 🤣. I just constantly visually inspect the leader for any wear and re tie if needed

Same more conventional and save fluoro aswell, and will change lures in dodgy areas where I might loose my (go too) without hesitating
@Phalanx6433 Жыл бұрын
Use the Mustad fastach terminal tackle..not a clip and there is no way it would fail. No point in eating your leader from changing 6 odd lures.
@B-e-n013 жыл бұрын
Loop knot or uni for me. The clips encourage the leader tangling around the trebles I found. Boats coming together nicely.

Nice vid mate, good points on the clips. 1 thing i find with soft plastics is when i try and release a plastic that is snagged with the "flick the line" technique any kind of loop or tension releasing connection doesn't transmit the snapped line pulse to the lure, it kind of dies at the connection. I know its not snap ring relevant to lures but a snap on a jighead for me is a no go due to that reason.
@ByronTeaHill3 жыл бұрын
Totally agree mate! Thanks Rob!

If fitted with a split ring, I usually remove it from the tow point. I’m always worried the line will slip into the split of the ring......if the makes sense? Great call on the manufactures recommendations. Thanks again 👍

Yeah, I’ve heard of this complaint also, a friend of mine once said they wound their line in and saw nothing on the end but a knot!

I think you're doing a good job balancing the brands who provide samples (eg. Diawa) with staying neutral. Hopefully other brands get on board. Off the back of rolling crank video I'd love to get a comparison review of other chubby crank baits.

Ha. I get it, but with a couple of kids and their mum to rig for and all those pretty colours to keep changing, swivel clips have saved me throwing my gear or my kids overboard! :-) They're getting older and tying knots and so I'm going back to knots again, but gotta say missing a few fish because of clips, compared to tangles, lures in trees, wading in my undies to retrieve snags, removing hooks from clothing, etc at least clips allowed to to fish just a little bit, although surprisingly I never seem to land any fish, the kids get heaps though! Lots of stuff on your channel to help out. Thanks. Cheers PP

@@ByronTeaHill we target king's mostly and land based we use a mix of lures and live baits (small Yakka or squids) I'm a Daiwa fan boy the issue is more the waight rating and reel size.

firstly i like ur unbiased matter of fact on ur channel, just subbed. clips, i dont chase bream and dont do tournaments and cant comment on the pros/cons of this in the bream world. i do use mustad fastach(without the swivel)for barra, murray cod, swimbaiting flathead, jacks, bass(only river)for many years and r the best(have used all the others over the years). with the hard bodies i remove the split ring from the tow point and use the fastach straight to the lure because the way the fastach is designed it gives the lure all the action it has(thats my opinion). leader chaffing is standard no mater using loop or fastach and u make the necessary cut/retie wen needed and that goes for the fg wen the leader gets to short. i like wat u r intending with the electronics and thats a huge🤜🤛from me and unbias as well, even better👍👍. i only use daiwa rods/reels theres nothing better(my opinion)cheers.

Another first rate video, I never thought about what was supplied with the lure dictating what the manufacturer wanted.
@thomasobscure49782 жыл бұрын
Personally I went from using various loop knots, specifically for barra, to using clips. Using a quality clip looks neater than a loop knot on 14lb leader. If one notices abrasion, just cut the line and retie the clip. There are so many different brands and shapes of clips available from Japan that one can always be chosen, in terms of size, strength, weight and gape, to match a lure. For example, i will use an ultralight, welded, tiny but large gaped clip for many hard bodied bream lures. Perhaps the problem is that there is such a limited range of clip styles and brands available in Australia that often a loop knot will be better.

I bring 4 rods. Frog, dropshot, live bait. And 1 for anything which has a snap on it. Cought my PB 6lb 13oz on a lipless crankbait with a clip. Use many lures depending on conditions with a clip. Some lures don't have a split ring and have to use a clip. . chatterbait and bladed jigs come with a clip? Saying should take them apart? Some lipless come with just 3 holes, will snap line just tying knot so need a clip . they have their place. I buy them Seperate . only use a snap swivel on certain spinners or live bait with bobber stoppers . won many amature tournaments with a snap on 1 rod. And 3-5 dedicated rods. Even put shrink wrap on top of spinnerbaits to use a snap. Never had one fail.
