One summer I tried growing my semi hydro plants outside, but it’s not worth it: the nutrient solution/water boils the roots; not keeping a reservoir was just as bad, the PON got hot & dried around the roots & I had to hose then down 2 or 3 times a day; they didn’t have time to get mosquitos as I had to constantly flush them. Thanks for sharing Nora!

I live in Atlanta,GA(Deep South USA) and I have my Xanadu philodendron plant in semi hydro outside in the summer because of more sunlight and it boosts the growth a lot and gets my plant bushy. I have no issues with mosquitos. My backyard with rain barrels and plants in soil/ garden do have more mosquitos in August but early summer I notice the dragonflies eat them.

Yes, the answer is yes. I live in an area with lots of mosquitoes outside and inevitably they make their way inside and breed in my leca reservoir if the container is not fully closed like Nora has shown.

I live in California, USA, and have no problems with mosquitoes in leca pots. I check frequently, though. I'm surrounded by rice growers, so the mosquitoes are extremely bad in my area.
