Proud natural women here and I really tried to get through this and most everyone was wonderful and beautiful but the insecure man child in the jacket as the loudest in the room syndrome…hard no for me. Listening with an open heart is really so attractive. He will most likely never be happily married. I will be exploring this channel though. Thanks for the content.

Thank you for watching and your support!! You are right... listening with an open heart IS attractive. But alot of women end up with the ones that are toxic and make you work hard for the love because of lack of self-love. This episode really was to look into the minds of different type of blk men and how they perceive us when we choose to not live by societal standards of beauty... Needless to say this jeeds a part 2 with another crew of men for another perspective!

This was a good conversation! I'm kind of surprised that men think natural hair is automatically some type of political statement. I'm a woman that wears both natural and weave it really just depends on my mood and what I feel like my hair needs. Again so interesting that men look so deep in the hair.
@TheSocietyStudios5 жыл бұрын
That is a great point. I think that many people especially ones that have not been natural have a certain viewpoint of natural women without having a true understanding. Its unfortunate but definitely true. I think that believe that women who are not trying to conform to societal standards of beauty, and that are going against the grain can be seen as too powerful and a threat... Its sad because all we want is to wear our God given hair. Right!?!? That shows just how much healing is needed within the community. Thats for your awesome comment. BTW I still love a great weave and wig! XOXO

What I find odd is the guy in the Letterman jacket saying he would never post a print picture or post he makes millions of dollars, however he commented several times that he made millions and had this lucrative job. It seemed a bit insecure to me. Another is his commentary about mixed women with long hair as if only mixed women have long hair or curly/wavy hair as he sits in a room with black women who have various hair textures. Any guy who calls themselves an alpha male is typically insecure. He sounds like a repeat Kevin Samuels. He has the energy of self importance and thinking his words are the most valid yet seemed to be reading into everyone else's commentary and getting offended. It seems like the traits he dislikes in women are the very ones he has himself. Overthinking is the biggest one. He overanalyzes everything. He has a lot of self hatred. I'm glad he is loud about it so women know to stay away.

I have been wearing weaves and extensions (recently wigs) half my life because of different reasons. Growing up my Mom use to make sure I had a perm cause she didnt want to deal with my hair. I had hair fall out, scalp infections, all types of stuff. Here recently I got tired of all of it and decided I was going to whether wear my natural hair or cut all my hair off. I never got so many compliments from both men and white, all nationalities about how much they love my natural tresses. I also think it took me getting to a point in my self growth journey that I truly wanted to embrace every single part of my being to truly appreciate my beautiful hair. This was very entertaining. I also have a Podcast "The Ms. O Show" and I love doing roundtables like this to get different perspectives. I am not saying I will never wear extensions again but there is just something that changed within me. I walk different, my confidence is different, my feeling of who I am is different. Ladies I say to truly give it a try, the heads that turn from men and women are crazy, they truly do enjoy natural women.

I am a 4b some pieces 4a I would assume. But I dont have loose curls. Without product I have a full blown afro. But when I decided to be natural it was for me and I went into it understanding that it may not be for everyone but it was for me. I walked proudly and really was at a point of my life where I didnt give a damn who approved and who didnt. The power I got from being able to own who I am is priceless. It was a journey for sure because all my life I have been taught to not like my hair and feel that I was not pretty unless I had flowy weave hair, even my mom/family was like "what you going to do with that hair"? It was hurtful at first, but now they see how it has grown, how thick it is and now I get sooo many compliments on my hair like "Your hair is so pretty, I wish I had your hair" and things like that which is still such a shock to me. I did a big chop and was looking hella cray until it grew out some but I just stayed the course. I know what we were taught to think is beautiful but I believe and know that we can define what we believe is beautiful for ourselves. And I also enjoy the fact that I dont look like other people. Like I love the fact that I am unique to myself. I feel the world has gotten so copied that we as black women are starting to look alike with our hair styles, bodies, and stuff like that, I like that I stand out and choose a different path.@@laurencameron3150

Wow this conversation was very interesting. Its always nice to hear a males perspective on what they find to be attractive. We as females will often say that the physical or the sexual isn't important, but that isn't true. We all have a type that we are attracted to however it is the personality intelligence, and compassion of the individual that will make us stick around unless you are completely superficial. I say this because every surface acting person does has some depth to them even if they don't want to admit or own their depth. I thin this conversation is a teachable moment for the women that find Ray's mind set offensive. I personally like the honesty because he let's me know up front that he is not relationship material for me. He is a guy that needs complete submission and I am not going to give a man that type of submission. Next he is right, what you wear, or how you wear your hair does speak volumes and we should not be upset or offended by this view, because we view men the same way. However the only difference between men and women is women will take another step to see if our first impression is correct or not. Lastly, , on the real does this one person's opinion matter that much to you, because at the end of the day I have to love what I see in the mirror not how a man views me. I truly feel that men respond to confidence and I can not let a man's views shake or take that from me. You are going to half to like the good bad and ugly of me. But guys, thanks for sharing your opinions.

And like you said it’s all about perception but when you don’t like the dick willingness of my hair I don’t feel you can fully appreciate my Ebony skin and you’re not my people also I thought it was very interesting what he felt about women that comment that that reflected their level of intelligence I don’t believe that’s true either I’m very intelligent and I come in all the time you never know who’s in your comments.
