Do Restrictions of Travelling with Mahram Apply To Safe Air Travel For Women? | Sh Waleed | Faith IQ

Safety and security is not the reason for a woman to need Mahram. Travelling itself is the reason that includes the requirement of Mahram. Majority of scholars say a Mahram is needed.
Although many others and Ibn Taimiyyah رحمه الله supported an opinion in the end of his life that women can travel without mahram if it is safe for them to travel with the permission of the Mahram.

You cannot argue the sunnah. The prophet told us that it is not permissible for a woman who believes in Allah and in the day of judgement to travel without a non-mahram. When Allah (subhanahu wa ta-ala) decreed his laws for our religion he knew this would apply to all generations, and he would've mentioned any exceptions if there were any. Remember not to lie to yourself just because it feels better. Fear Allah.

Well bro I do understand Ur point , but as I said scholars , researchers and even Aisha (Ra) herself got the permission to travel without a mahram until it's with a group that ensures safety . Ofc Allah knows the best.

In Malaysia there a government instution of Islamic scholar of many experts in Islam .a fatwa had been issue that women can solo travel without mahram as long a the journey is safe. More detail you could refer to the web jakim

Assalamu alaikum, what is the case of going to tours? Yes it is not a need if you think of it from a materialistic view, but it is a need if you think of it from a psychological view. We need refreshment too. There are a lot of things in this world, beautiful creation of Allah to visit. Is it ok to go to study tours which conducted by our teachers (sir, madam) or ladies group where safety, place of staying all are assured. Please remember we have mental needs too! when we see our male relatives, colleagues, friends to travel and enjoy we also feel to visit places. But always it is not possible that out mahram, husband manage time.

Do solo traveling and don't listen to controversial fatwas which are made by men to keep women under their feet. Traveling is a need. It is even recommend in Islam many times.

Well you have shown a Hadith reinforcing your opinion. Lemme show another to reinforce mine: Narrated by `Adi bin Hatim: While I was in the city of the Prophet, a man came and complained to him (the Prophet, ) of destitution and poverty. Then another man came and complained of robbery (by highwaymen). The Prophet said, "Adi! Have you been to Al-Hira?" I said, "I haven't been to it, but I was informed about it." He said, "If you should live for a long time, you will certainly see that a lady in a Howdah traveling from Al-Hira will (safely reach Mecca and) perform the Tawaf of the Ka`ba, fearing none but Allah. And it's an authentic Hadith of Bukhari: 3595

Well in that case, just don't go. there's no exception to this law and if there was the prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) would've mentioned it

No, the hadith of the prophet mentions "one night and one day." If you are going overseas, that will be more than one day. There is a difference of opinion on a journey shorter than one day but your journey passes the threshold. So if you are taking a journey overseas you require a mahram.

Tou umrah ya hajj k liya zarori hai. Shia fiqah mai shohar ki ijazat zarori hai tou akailay safar kar sakti hai. Yani rasool saww ki baat say agay shohar hai. Haan aap ko yahan say mehram plane mai bitha dai agay bhi mehram he pick karay tou samajh aati hai baat. K aap nay apni family mai jana hai. Mai kissi imam ko follow karnay ki bajai allah aur us k rasool par yaqeen rakhti hoon. Theik hai un ki rai hai imam maalik aur shaafi ra k aurat ja sakti hai. Par hanfi bohat sakht hain is maamlay mai. Agay deen sab k samnay aik kitab allah aur us k rasool ki baton mai hai. Jis ko jo manana hai woh adopt kar lai. Shukria

It makes my stomach twist with disgust knowing how controlling and overbearing this is for so many women. Imagine she needs to escape an abusive marriage and you require her husband to travel with her. How is she supposed to be safe when your community also supports her being beaten or to have marital rape done to her?
