I've never had a pedicure in my 76 years. I do my own nails frequently though. This was very informative. I learned a lot. Thank you! I love all of your videos. ❤

Karen those are amazing tips of how to use all of the steps from the Pedi kits when you're doing dry pedicures. I have been throwing them to the side wondering what the heck I was going to do with all of them. 🎉

I used to offer home personal care assistance to the elderly. Several of them loved pedicures (to be honest I wasn’t supposed to be doing that, but it made my ladies so happy so I did).. and I told one of my ladies that I would do her pedicures next visit. I got to get home and she was ready. She had her foot bath ready and all her pedicure tools, polish, towels, etc. so I sat right down and started doing her feet. I have asthma so I’m sensitive to smells and I kept smelling bleach. Finally I asked her where was the bleach and she says “in my foot soak”. My mouth dropped. I said in this foot bath and she said yes and she’s always soaked her feet in bleach. She was in her early 80s, so there was no need to argue. I told her that it was harsh, but her feet must have been used to it. I asked my other ladies had they heard of that and they said yes… the Dr would tell them to do that for ringworms, and stuff like that and a lot of people in the south did that if they had issues with foot odor and a lot of people walked around barefooted especially back then , so it was common. I was in awe. The day after doing her feet my fingertips cracked open. Don’t know how they stood it

We definitely do not recommend soaking in bleach! Many things have changed over the years in the nail industry and this may have been the norm many years ago, but there are much safer options now. It's still good to educate our clients on better options, even if they have been doing something like soaking in bleach for a long time!

It’s funny how you say do gel polish first. In school I was taught to do gel polish after you’ve done the soaking and scrubbing of the feet. Which is the right way makes me wonder.

There are many techniques that work. We find that doing the gel application first gives great adhesion as well as cleaning up the cuticles and prepping with the e-file prior to soaking can be faster and more effective. This way, you don't have to repeat any steps for prepping after finishing the pedicure. In addition, if you use scrubs and lotions during the pedicure, this can add excess oils to the nail plate prior to gel application, which can interfere with adhesion.

I've done gel toes after soaking and cleaning and my gel last for weeks. Without any damage to the natural toe nails. I don't believe you don't have to wash and soak the feet or toes
