Your program is the best I have found. Your help for those of us with fine, high porosity and thinning hair has prevented me from having my hair go from completely losing my curls in Winter to reducing frizz in the Summer. I also have improved coverage of my bald spots. Your straight forward approach combined with solid recommendations and well done video demonstrations has made your program my favorite. Thank you so much! In the future, if you could share a small amount of information about yourself, here and there, I think your program would be even better received. A little warmth to balance out the clinical presentation would make your program perfect! Great job and well wishes for your future! With admiration and appreciation, Laurie in Maine (from Tennessee)

Hello, Gena Marie! I wish I would have watched this before washday yesterday. I concur with you about bent over styling. When I do that I get great root volume but a tangled mess everywhere else. If I try to brush style, like last night, my hair looks so stringy. Next wash day will be upright styling with no brush! Thanks again for a great, informative video.

The hair trim really suits you. I trim my hair all the time - but I don’t care for long(er) hair at the moment. I also think that your hair looks really good with a little frizz - I noticed in a few videos where you showed your hair frizzy. Last but not least a compliment for your videos: even when they are sponsored you give really useful tips and are not just promoting the products.

Great guide! 👍 Does the liquid effects gel have a strong scent? I am very sensitive to scented stuff like Curl Smith for example, hence my question. My hair is high porosity, dries the minute I get out of the shower, gets very frizzy and won't curl properly. Also it is very low density, very fine and thin and see through, (2c/3a if the curls would curl properly which happens almost never 😅) . Looks like cotton candy 😭. Still searching for the perfect routine...

I've been spending so much time researching how to style it as well as her since all I knew was she used some AG mousse gel and morrocan oil. this video has some things she did AND MORE, so I'm hopeful my hair will turn out even better than when she styled it hahaha. I have very similar hair to yours, so I'm glad I've found your channel and thank you so much for the videos!! 😊

I do have Not Your Mother, AG, Ouidad, cantu and a few drugstore products. I have noticed that I like my curls underneath...but the top layer is more fly-a-way.

I have recently discovered curly hair routines, having had frizzy hair all my life and thinking this was just how my hair way. Your do's and don't are super usefuls. I was doing plopping because it gives me super tight curls but I was having the root issues you showed and now I know this was normal. Also I thought the wetter the better but I tried your way and my curls are different but I have much more volume. The clips were a great tip too. The last thing I am going to try, today in fact, which is why I came back to your video, but I am a bit scared is using a hair dryer. I have so far done only hair dry because I get no frizz this way.

I also have a very sensitive scalp and use Bondi boost shampoo for dandruff which I don’t have but has stopped my head being itchy. I’ve bought the ag recoil and liquid effects. I’ve been doing my hair upside down but will try standing up. I’ve never brushed my hair and my lovely hairdresser has thick curly hair so understands my hair. I’m 62 and do have female pattern baldness but get my hair trimmed regularly. I’m trying these products and feel like I’m doing something wrong as my hair feels very crunchy. My hair is also grey. Gena!!!I am in desperate need help! I am basically restarting the transition phase again with my hair. I am 4 months postpartum from having my first baby. I have never had an oily scalp and I’m loosing my curl definition. I can have good curls for maybe a day? Then things are starting to stretch out. I have thick, coarse strands but now it’s like my hair can’t handle any product on them. I am constantly washing my hair and I am so insecure about my hair. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Do you know if this will be my new normal once my hormones level out?

This is very common postpartum, and it can take a really long time to level out. Some peoples hair changes, and some may go back to how it was. You may need a stronger shampoo and more lightweight products for now. the shampoo I mentioned in this video, which is linked in the description box can help

Sometimes my hair looks gappy in the back and I've been starting to think it's from upside down styling. I've tried to style upright though and I always end up with my roots sticking to my head. My hair is more wavy than curly though. Sometimes I'll style upside down amd when I come upright I'll use a some on the back and it does seem to help. I'm thinking maybe my hair is too wet when I'm trying to style upright. So, are you brush styling with the gel? So it has enough slip? None of my gels have enough slip for that but I'd love to try it. How is the fragrance with the AG products? I have the AG Curl Trigger and really like this product for my fine, low porosity waves. It gives them some grit amd texture.
@GenaMarie9 ай бұрын
Yes, Liquid Effects has loads of slip. I only really use gels with slip so I can brush style with them in and it makes refreshing easier. The fragrance is nice and not too strong. Reminds my of salon products and isn't super herbally if that makes sense.

For a minute i thought all curly haired people have this issue on the crown? The back top of the head - w it looking like we are balding because it rounds like a circle but im noticinf w all my kids and thinking of it like a tree if we continued the particular strands up and around as it naturally wants to grow - like a trees life lines…. It might not get that bald spot look. Not sure! my theory. 🤷♀️ I wish my hair was overly soft lol its super damaged and probably going to dye it AGAIN today to go back to a darker. Colour / brown instead of thos red. Idk. ❤❤

A lot of times it is just the growth patterns which is usually a cowlick. Doesn’t always mean it’s from thinning or hair loss, just the way the hair grows at the root. Everyone has different growth patterns though some people may not have it.

You can try just using mousse instead of leave in + gel
@katemein56539 ай бұрын
It is a lot! I’m on my second try for curly hair (I get bored easily). It’s overwhelming to hear and see all the different possibilities. I have fine, medium density, shoulder length 2c hair. I started like this: 1) wash with curl shampoo and conditioner. 2) find a light leave-in conditioner if you have fine or thin hair. You can also skip the leave-in and use a mousse-type product instead. 3)Then try a gel of some type. 4)I’m using the Denman brush to create curls for the first time and I love it. 5) to dry, diffuse your hair, beginning with cool air farther from your head, working your way to warmer air as your hair dries, working closer to the scalp. Scrunch out the cast and fluff up your hair. This may not work for you depending on how thick your hair is, but this is what’s working for me right now. I’m trying to keep it simple at the beginning. Over time you will learn what doesn’t work and what does work for your own hair.
