After 11 years smoking THC-heavy weed and now quitting for 9 days… The REM rebound is insane. Im getting 5-10 memorable dreams every night, much deeper sleep, and waking feeling more rested and less resentful. That’s not even to mention the other physical and social benefits of quitting. Don’t think I’ll ever go back to daily use.

I took an edible to help me get to sleep. It worked…the only issue was that I woke up 5 hours later on the moon.

It depends on what your taking if your taking full blown weed cbd than its a mixed result thing etc . If you need it for sleep just take delta 8/9 indica for sleep.

Thanks to doctors Attia and Walker for the simply outstanding talk. I am a psychotherapist trained in clinical psychology and advise sleep risks related to THC as discussed as well as a bevy of other risks. I do advise getting outdoors and exercising during the day and eating heathy Mediterranean or Asian type diet rich in omega three fats and whole foods. Both benefit the endocannabinoid system and clearly good for the brain writ large and sleep as compared to the sedentary lifestyle and the standard American diet (SAD) I would love to hear a deep dive by Dr. Attia on the endocannabinoid system and it's optimization All best Matthew Velissaris, MA, LPC

I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma 7years ago- a terminal blood cancer and went through stem cell and chemotherapy. A couple months later the cancer returned with a vengeance. I was suggested to try some cannabis oil to help clear the cancer once more. I started with a small amount of THC until I was able to take a gram a day for 60-90 days. I was totally “stoned “for that time. I am now cancer free and take a maintenance. I now take a maintenance dose of around 40mgs At bed time. I sleep so well and have for this time. Thankful to God and THC and Rick Simpson oil. I now make my own and feel great daily. I’m 75 years old and probably wouldn’t be here without the oil!!! I take the oil in a capsule form - THC is great when taken properly. I’ve never smoked cannabis and it isn’t helpful for dealing with cancer to my knowledge!

Love Matthew Walker’s book and what I learned in reading it. It wasn’t until I read the book along with taking my WHOOP recovery data seriously did I start taking sleep seriously for better performance.

Interesting points about CBD dosage, I took it for a few months and noticed a small dosage would be just right for me to reduce sleep latency but taking a higher dosage would make me feel slightly more awake although more physically relaxed.

Its incredibile how many thing you can learn about the weed eaven After years of smoking. I have been smoking evry day for 10 year or so, and i discover often new thing about my High process and quality of weed. The only thing im sure of is that it was really a bad idea start smoking 😵😂

After taking all types of medications for anxiety, insomnia, PTSD, or anything else the doctor could think of that didn’t work, I took some THC with some CBM and slept through the night like I haven’t in years

All I know is, I've smoked straight weed for 15 years daily now, minimum 3grams. 100% fall asleep easily, pass out on sofa plenty of times. I stopped about 2 years ago for 5 months amd after 2 months my dreams became insanely vivid. The thing about THC affecting REM sleep is FACTS

I take a 1:2 most nights 5mg CBD, 2.5 THC and I fall asleep so fast. Insomnia os the WORST and I feel way unhealthier when I'm not using these edibles. I dunno, I get it but people with sleep issues a little bit of thc and cbd can be a godsend.

I do all the optimal sleep hygiene practices (no alcohol around bedtime, morning light, evening blue blockers and red light, magnesium etc.), but even then there's no guarantee that every night will be amazing sleep. I occasionally hit a THC vape cart before bed and sleep very well, don't get up in the middle of the night and wake up refreshed. Also, HRV levels are high, so I'm finding it hard to believe that there's a problem here. Delta 8 works pretty well too, but I don't wake up refreshed. CBD/CBN is somewhat effective, but doesn't come close to the punch of THC or Delta 8.

As a person who suffers with chronic insomnia and generalized anxiety disorder, it’s the only thing that helps me sleep and still maintain cognitive function the next day. I’ve tried sleeping pills, trazadone, etc and they make me feel groggy the next day.

​@@rosieg6951for you its probably best to try delta8/9 indica for relaxation and sleep at night. If you don't wont to smoke then try vapes or edibles to tryout. Look at your local cbd store .

I think you are correct when you say cbd works on the anxiety of insomnia which is helpful. I make my own cbd oil and have helped friends with anxiety/sleep issues.

I would argue that terpenoids with cannabinoid receptor binding are where the potential benefits are. Rephyll, a patented delivery mechanism for Beta-caryophyllene extracted from Piper Nigrum (the terpenoid also found in most indica strains), might be a good place to start investigating.

i live in NY how do I find a doctor for this cbd for sleep. Im taking sleeping pills now for 3 years and not sleeping good anymore.I would love to get off of them and try the cbd for sleep. so if anyone know any doctors please let me know

From experience both chronically using and abstaining, I'd say it is awful to use as a sleep aid. When using chronically, it can truly avert productivity and positive mood. However, for an occasional use, I believe it can be utilized for spiritual and psychological purposes. That said, after listening to Huberman's extensive podcast episode covering the research data, I do not advocate for abuse, chronic use, or passively using. Like psychedelics, I believe it is something that can be experimented with for intermittent periods, if at all, and then put to rest until next time.

I've been using about 20mg of Delta 8 gummy to help sustain my sleep. I'll take it just before bed. I usually have no problem going to sleep but can wake at 2am, and not go back to sleep. With D8, even if I wake, I stay relaxed enough to go back to sleep without the grogginess of "sleep meds". I have a Gen 3 Oura ring, and generally sleep scores are mid to high 80s. I think the score would further improve if I went to bed earlier.

I have a very similar sleep pattern, sometimes I'm able to go back to sleep, sometimes not. I was just thinking about the oura ring, I'm waiting for it to get cheaper lol. But I'll probably have to buy it

get an ounce of good weed and 500mls of V coconut oil, boil it all with water in a big enough pot for 4 hours then strain and press out oil and water into another pot, (save and freeze boiled weed for cooking a cake ), I use a potato masher and press oil out and then let cool and put in fridge until oil goes hard and separates from water and thats what your after, elephant tranquilliser :") a few spoonfuls whisked in hot milk an hour before bed for the deepest sleep, you wont be waking up for 8-10 hours and when you wake you will find your so basted and stoned off your tits your grinning like a clown lol, quite a good start to the day mate, cheers from Oz.

I'm going to try this. I have to get out of bed and meditate every night between 1am and 4am, then get back in bed, meditate again while lying down, then listen to a podcast for 20 mins in sleeping position, then try and fall asleep, the whole process is about 1hr. My oura ring gives me a score in the high 80s, sometimes early 90s. Scores are good but I'm so fed up with waking every night and sometimes it takes a big effort to get back to sleep.

CBD works really well for me at night for my tinnitus. I don't think it helps me getting asleep faster but the tinnitus is gone for around 7 hours which is great to get a good night rest. I also take magnesium, L-theanine and meditate before bed, but it was not enough for the tinnitus, although it helped a lot. CBD was the one thing that made the biggest difference.

@@Marcin-kj3oj 3 drops under my tongue and 1 drop behind each ear of a 5% full spectrum CBD oil. It's really a low dosage. Additionally I've been doing mouth taping since December because I'm a mouth breather when I sleep and I don't think my sleep quality has improved much but an unexpected benefit has been that my different types of tinnitus have been reduced to the point where there's days I don:t hear them at all. I guess it's the deeper breathing that is calming my hyperactive nervous system. Good luck with your tinnitus.

I was prescribed THC for insomnia and it helped me sleep for several more hours before wakening. When I take a break, I revert back to my pre pot days but it isn't any worse than it was before I started. As far as falling asleep, I honestly never noticed any time difference.

I'm currently seeing how and if thc can help me sleep. I live in The Netherlands so I can get 'wiet' as we call it quite readily. I have a demanding job that often leaves me thinking about it when it's time for bed, I have trouble getting to sleep which lead me to grab 3 or 4 beers in the evening. Weight is becoming an issue and the quality of the sleep isn't great. For about a week now I've been taking one puff of pure Marijuana about 2 minutes before bed and leaving out the alcohol. So far I'm actually quite happy with the results, I feel like I can let go of my work easier and just have better sleep.

I can sleep MUCH better when I pause cannabis use. I mean, starting use I sleep better, then during normal use, I tend to sleep like I would if I wouldn't use it (with reduced latency and reduced dreams of course), and as soon as I pause use, I sleep better again (with even less latency) until the body regulates itself and I sleep normally yet again. That's all I can say for me.

I was recently able to stop seizure meds after being off & on since I was 18. It also works for insomnia, but the thc has unpleasant side-effects & I'd prefer cbd oil for its other benefits. My only concern is will it, too, prevent seizures.

I’m very curious about the use of CBD oils to help with sleep. I mentioned CBD to my neurologist and although he didn’t discourage me from trying it he said there is no clinical data to support it. I’m going to try it soon.

I took weed to help with sleep and unfortunately for me it was addicting. When I quit it was about three weeks of bad, broken up sleep full of nightmares as my REM tried to recover before I normalized. What did help me, was moving my workout routine to first thing in the morning. Every day, rain or shine, I fit an outdoor 5 minute run followed by a cold shower with in the first half hour of wake. That outdoor light and blood flow movement combined with restricting any food with in 4 hours of bed, for me, sets my circadian rhythm everyday. This was a recent change in the past few months and as a 44 year old, probably for the first time since I was a child, I find myself falling asleep on the couch before bed every night now. I hope you find what really works for you, but don’t give up.

@@jamesn7156 ya I noticed I withdrawal really bad from weed. Hot and cold sweats horrific dreams. I feel I can’t win and whatever I take has side effects. So I cannot use weed every night. Mirtazipine is great for sleep but it makes you gain weight which is bad for me as I have sleep apnea to boot. I have to use that cpap machine and on my own with it I can only sleep 3/4 hours then I wake up. My sleep has been horrific for over two years. I can’t sleep on my own unless it’s sleeping pills or weed so I juggle between them maybe it’s the sleep apnea but there is no cure for it only that stupid machine.

dude, I lived in a car in LA, with very serious ank spon, so bad that both hips were totally destroyed and as a result both femoral heads totally stuck to acetabulum's.....spine rigid like a bamboo and esr and crp very high.....in the dispensaries they have all manner of strains and all levels of potency,,,,cannabis buds similar to humans in that they are all different ....would you discuss the lives of a 60 year old Kechua speaking Peruvian woman living on less than a dollar a day high up in the andes and a 20 year Oligarchs girlfriend living in Kensington on 2000 dollars a day as if they were simply comparable???.....so without the weed I slept an awful average of 4 hours a night, wrecked and sore in the morning....with weed, NINE HOURS!!! of blissful sleep easy....I'll never forget those days, I live in a country under the shadow of prohibition and so exercising choice in terms of quality, potency and strain is super difficult, but I would be willing to bet my life that the judicious cultivation, popularisation and use of the plant would render 90% or so of the medicaments in the average pharmacy completely null and void,,,,,been on a "healing journey" since 1995 and can attest, from experience, that by comparison to almost everything, weed (in the appropriate form) absolutely reigns as Queen. I have insomnia every month 10 to 7 days before my period, i'm active all day, sleep 3/4 hours and i'm up again. No alcohol, i workout at the gym, clean diet..but i still can't manage my insomnia those days, only with the right mix of CBD and THC i can sleep deeply. Only side effect is that I sleep 10h 😂 but wow i wake up fresh, brand new.

If your taking it for insomnia which is associated with depression, anxiety and mood swings then its best to take delta8/9 indica which works great for sleep. Its just on the individual how much you need etc , just try going to a local cbd store and fet a basic delta 8 gummy to tryout. Try just taking about 10 mg of delta 8 .

I’m on shift work schedule, waking up wee hour, staying up all night, and go to bed at ridiculously early hour 😅😅😅 However, I can only speak for myself, since I started using CBD 15mg before the sleep, my sleep quality has significantly improved 🎊 ( falling asleep easily and more REM sleep) And also it is encouraging to hear a positive comment from Matthew Walker, Ph.D. on CBD❤ Peace and Love from Japan 🇯🇵

Either that or a small dose of delta 8/9 especially indica helps with sleep. Which can help with anxiety, depression, mood swings and triggers etc.

Wow i disagree with your viewpoint totally about having to use more . This is definitely not the case for me , as i don't yawn and rarely feel tired . I have to stay up really late into the morning to get any yawns and feel the slightest bit tired, also people yawning does not trigger me into to doing the same . But all i have to do is smoke an Indica with Linalool and Nerolidol and i'm yawning my head off and have a really deep sleep. So maybe the saying horses for courses applies here. To add to this i can never really smoke Sativa as it elevates my heart rate and gives me anxiety which i get normally just from social situations .

Trazodone can have awful side effects. CBD, I read, can cause trace amounts of liver damage.

assuming that's the case, it's only if its ingested rather than inhaled, I assume its because cod is in everything now, soda, candy, etc.

too much focus on calling a strained medical and not enough focus on what you as an individual need to help you sleep. One thing that helped me for several years successfully was smoking all day but not smoking anymore once it start getting dark and I would go to sleep well later. now I sometimes need to use some high THC doses to get back to sleep if I have certain type of panic attack. I find it a CBD vape will sometimes help me relax if I'm tense at bedtime. One thing I've learned is by phasing effects of whatever I'm using some things will just like the videos talking about wake you up with Windows and relax you with a stronger or weaker dose. Cannabis definitely affects sleep stages.

Dr. Walker: Please read Health Canada Cannabis for Physicians and please apply a little intelligence. One simply takes a break from LOW DOSE SLEEPY INDICA CANNABIS. Please don't be so dogmatic. Some people need more Deep Sleep. Please watch Artificial intelligence and sleep, University of Washington and GET UP TO SPEED. Your book was a great starting point but see points above.

Should not be dependent on anything. It is good to be aware of things that help. Possible reduction of grey matter is serious. I think once in a while is better.

Sometime smart people are wrong. THC helped me sleep very well when I took a low dosage of around a 6-8mg edible.

I don’t know the data but I am in my 70’s and have a surgically repaired neck with titanium brace and screws. I have a rare form of blood cancer that causes issues and anxiety issues as well. I live in a legal state but there will not be any dispensaries until January of 2025. I sleep like a baby when I have a good indica cultivar but ran out and haven’t gotten a good nights sleep in a week. My neck normally doesn’t give me any trouble and it kept me awake most of last night. Tylenol PM has a limited effect and the gummies they sell with .03% THC from hemp do nothing. I know this isn’t a scientific answer backed by research but I believe that cannabis is the best thing to induce sleep and tame my anxiety. Ironically I take something for anxiety that works to some extent but cannabis is better and doesn’t have the side effects.

Hell yeah it does, 57 and been making my own cannacooconut oil for decades and a few spoonfuls before bed works like elephant tranquilliser with a guaranteed 8 hours minimum deeeeep no rem sleep and the added bonus you wake up basted and toasted better than any smoking high :") nice mate..
