Great video on jumper limitations. One thing that needs to mentioned is that after you install the jumper you need to go to GTS radio and scroll down to settings and make sure that projection in selected to on. If it off you will not get apple car play on GTS screen

Hey Ryan I installed the jumper on my 2018 Ultra Limited after installing the new GTS radio and it works. BUT after two visits to My dealer - the jumper tricks the communication port for the rear headset so that it doesn’t work. Leave the jumper in, no VOX for the rear. Remove the jumper and VOX for the rear works. Hope this info saves someone else of the frustration and cost of going to their dealer. The dealer is suggesting the only what to have CarPlay and to have the rear communication port active for VOX is to install the WHIM.

Bought one and it worked right off, well for a little while. Then it just shut off. Later in my ride it started back up again. Loved it when it worked, not so much when it didn't. I had a jumper installed on 2022 SGS. I was able to get music to playback on a non HD Sena by simply navigating back to Bluetooth setting on iPhone 11 Pro and reselecting the Sena headset from connected devices list. This may work for others but may not depending on your phone. I couldn’t hear turn by turn and assume the other functions Ryan described won’t work either. I removed it and installed WHIM…

Another option which is cheaper is to simply go with a wired headset. Never runs out of battery power and I think has better volume.

The problem I have with all this is that even after buying the whim I still have to buy Harley headsets. So the WHIM is $400 and then the dual headset is another $500. Harley set it so you could not use a non Harley Headset. So that is $1000 to be able to use CarPlay. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me.

Wow, technology wars on the bike. I use an iPhone for navigation, but I’m not worrying about anything else on my old wide glide. If I want tunes, I have to sing what’s in my head. Seems cool to be able to find stuff with Siri though.

I don’t have this issue. I’m running the Sony XAV 7000 head unit In my 14 street glide. It already has built-in Apple CarPlay. I love this head unit. Been stuck in torrential downpour’s never had one problem

On my 2020 the dealer was able to change a setting in the computer that allowed Carplay to work. But a $12 jumper is alot cheaper than an hour of dealer labor.

You will not get full Apple Car Play functionality with what your dealer did. I know the setting they used. You can't use Siri, give voicecommands, respond to text messages, or make phone calls without a WHIM and Harley branded headset. The jumpers actually give limited functionality of Apple Car Play. You can just see/listen to maps and music through your speakers.

Mine worked great sometimes my sena would connect a call to the bike first not make the call. Would power down my sena and it would connect to my phone and would sometimes allow me answer and still call out. It would be glitchy sometimes had pro max 13. If my sena would connect I could take the call. If my phone connect to bike instead of sena I could hear it but not be able to talk. 2020 roadglide Text messages out the door I couldn't respond at all Great video. I use my $10.00 ONN bluetooth headphones and a set of IPODS. Harley told me I had to have $170.00 set of HD headset to make it work. I have 1 2019 GTS and unless they changed it, you don't need HD headphones. I turned the headphones on and put them in my saddle bag, didn't try to make any calls or use Siry,

I was told to add the Amazon Module - and Carplay on my Iphone. I was also told to have the bike flashed for WHIM with the AMAZON Module.. as soon as I did this... I lost all CARPLAY connectivity. Can you unflash a bike ??Before I had the bike flashed I had CARPLAY and FULL SENA Helmet Comms... Now I'm back to where I started and the bike is no longer reading my CARPLAY.

Make certain that you have a quality charge/SYNC cable!! Some of these cheap cables are charge only. You must have the charge/sync cable for carplay to work.

Ryan, I’m not sure what’s going on but I’m getting right flustered. Any ideas on troubleshooting that you can think of on why my jumpers work for my 2021 Street Glide Special but are not working on my 22 road glide ST. At first I thought maybe it was a VIN lock, and that’s not it. I’ve reset the Harley radio. I have CarPlay in my truck and it won’t work on my bike. I’ve tried with Bluetooth on and off, I’ve tried with different cables. The only thing that continuously pops up is no playable media and then it will play media via Bluetooth. Projection is on ! I’ve tried the female connector jump and that didn’t do it either. I’m from Canada and just wondering if maybe you think during PDI that the dealership may have checked off a box? I do see a microphone with an x when it first starts up everytime I plug it in. Would you reload the Harley software update to see if maybe it’s just corrupt ? Let me know your thoughts brother. I have one of these plugs by a different maker on my 2019 road glide and it works exactly as described, with no voice feature. For me, I just use apple CarPlay for the maps and music on the screen and then send the audio to my air-pod pro's. I can still control all the features of car-play with my handlebar controls. My understanding about the WHIM is that you can install it yourself, but you have to have an HD tech enable that feature in the firmware? Not sure if this is true....I wasn't ready to have that conversation with my dealer yet.

I still think its evil that I have to spend $400 extra for a WHIM and buy a Harley Branded Sena to get full use of the Boom system. I spent $37k out the door for my 2024 Road Glide 3 and it doesn't even have the wired headset port like my 2019 Tri Glide did. I used a Sena blue tooth to wired port adapter to connect my Sena Calvary half helmet. At $240 it worked great. My car lets me connect my phone and any earbuds I want. Harley is not customer friendly after the purchase.

They sold the WHIM long before the helmet. 99% of WHIM users will use the 20S, 30, and 50S clamp on units rather than the helmet.

if your radio has been flashed (to use the whim), this jumper will not work, you'll need to un-flash the radio (which tells the radio you're not using a whim) and then the jumper will work. my thoughts are if you have a whim already why would you want the jumper? unless you're like me, my whim was removed by the previous owner of bike therefore i had to un-flash for my jumper to work.

I have to tell you that you don’t have to go through all that, and install all those things, I just bought a 2023 street glide special anniversary edition and I have all that functionality, and my phone is connected to my motorcycle wirelessly , I bought the magic box , which is small enough to fit in the small compartment they give you, and I can even watch Netflix, Hulu, KZbin. And if I to ask Siri to do something for me, I always keep one AirPod in one of my ears , so I can talk , answer calls or give Siri commands. If you already own an iPhone you probably own AirPods. All you need is to spend 99 dollars for a magic link, or 200 for a magic box if you want video streaming on your screen, the magic box plugs into the usb where your phone normally would, and that’s it, no need to take apart your fairing. Check it out. It’s easier and way cheaper

Apple CarPlay works on my 2020 Road Glide Limited as long as the Harley supplied wires headset (with microphone) and my iPhone 13 is plugged into the fairing USB connector. It doesn’t work with just the iPhone plugged in. No WHIM. No jumper. Maybe it’s an anomaly. IDK 🤷‍♂️

That is the way they are set up from factory. The headset with mic must be plugged in (and phone of course) for Apple Car Play to work. They only way to get around this and keep full functionality is to install a WHIM, have it flashed, and use a compatible (read Harley Sena) Bluetooth headset. Using the jumper or having bike flashed to “think” a WHIM is installed will also make Apple Car Play work without plugging headset/mic in, but as Ryan says the functionality is somewhat limited. But if you only want maps, music, bike to read you your text messages (although you can’t respond) etc., then the jumper or flash will be fine for you.
