Description of the book: Van Hemert System Book for jazz and gypsy jazz guitar soloing Over the past few months the call for a “Van Hemert System” book has grown stronger and stronger. A lot of topics which are discussed in this book have found their way into different videos on my KZbin channel but - with over 300 videos produced - it can be quite challenging to piece everything together. What good is a system without a systematic overview of its components? That is where this book comes in: all topics are presented in a logical order and studying the book from beginning to end will undoubtedly generate the greatest chance of success. The goal of my system is to provide the reader with a step-by-step guide to jazz guitar soloing. There are no shortcuts when it comes to practice hours but I truly believe that studying the materials in this book can and will lead to a professional level. All the tools in this book are tools I use every day during small gigs, big concerts, studio recordings, workshops and private lessons. The reader might wonder why there is very little music theoretical information presented in the book. The reason is that music theory is not a tool I actually use during jazz improvisation and thus I have found no reason to put it in this book. The tools in the "Van Hemert System" are designed to spend as much time as possible with the guitar studying actual phrases, shapes and licks that will get you sounding good as fast as possible. The videos accompanying this book are as important to the learning process as the text and music notation. The videos are recorded in my usual KZbin style and because of the free flowing, unscripted format there is additional relevant information to be found within them. Furthermore they are meant to clarify and inspire and should not be skipped. I hope you will thoroughly enjoy your time with this book and will continue the never ending journey of improving yourself long a×er you have mastered the tools presented here. N.B. The artwork in this book consists of cartoon versions of some of my favorite clickbaity thumbnails from my KZbin channel!

What is the Basic Concept of Gypsy jazz ? Should I need to change the ( Flat picking) to Floating picking like django...
@ChristiaanvanHemert4 жыл бұрын
You can use any picking style. The book is not about technique, just about learning to improvise on jazz standards.

@@ChristiaanvanHemert I thought the sounds matter when we use floating picking to make the playing like Gypsy jazz...though I never involve in Gypsy jazz , I wander myself that how to start Gypsy jazz, infact I even don't know how to play Gypsy jazz...

Ah but the book is not necessarily about gypsy jazz. It's about jazz (including gypsy jazz).

You deserve more subscribers . Have you ever considered just relating some of your skills and knowledge to music with a bigger fan bass just to reach more people? Jazz, mostly bebop and hard bop(however I always have played and loved Gypsy jazz), is what I play and I think you are providing a great service. Thank you. I only wish this knowledge and music could reach more people. If you have no interest please just keep doing your amazing channel. Thanks again

Thanks Colt, I've considered but in the end you're just beholden to the KZbin algorithm. For some reason it's not working with my channel the way I want but I'm always trying new angles to make it happen. You're definitely right that the number of subscribers and views in relation to the number of videos is way off. I'm no doubt making a big mistake in the process somewhere, but I haven't cracked the code just yet.
