Great video and great question :) both trained in dance (Ali - ballet & Bruce - Cha Cha Cha champion) both very fast and agile with great balance. Both broke the rules and transcended their arts. I would lean towards Ali for the fact his footwork was pressure-tested over thousands of rounds and I have never seen anyone as graceful on their feet before or since. Ali vs Williams is 3 rounds of the most beautiful footwork ever. Poetry!👌

Absolutely beautiful!! I know that whenever I train by myself (which is 'bout everyday, even after classes), I place a heavy emphasis on footwork - sometimes it's all I practice!

(quick online course review) mr. Ingram, just signed up for your online course. it's exactly advertized. the videos are direct. simple to understand but full of little goodies and tips. speaking of footwork just went over the tutorials in the basics section and its excellent. empty hand basics video is already giving me great drills to work on keeping a solid guard while throwing punches and I'm even beginning to look at my old mook jong differently in the ways I can practice with it transferring some of the drills over to it, instead of on a tree or wall. best part was sign up took less than 30 seconds and I was in. found my way around the site easily and am looking forward to diving into further videos as soon as I get off work. excellent online school format, its step by step and offers great detail on even the begginer basic tutorials. n st like you said it would. thanks again. Dave Hoyt

Awesome. The added line for multi-directional is a great addition. As for who had better footwork, Bruce Lee or Ali? It's Ali, right? Lee had that Wing Chun background and that tends towards a lot more close-quarters/linear footwork with a fairly severe lack of long-range while Ali specifically had great long-range-to-close range footwork. I guess?

Thanks for sharing videos. Is it possible to practice in 'slow motion' due to old injuries and build up strength and agility slowly - like a kind of slow form martial art?
@raikey21764 жыл бұрын
You can do many variations with this footwork that can confuse your opponent.
@JPLMONEY239 жыл бұрын
Between Ali and Lee....is subjective.....we've seen Ali only fighting one opponent whereas Bruce has to fend off more than one......so both have to have great footwork or balance in order to be successful in their skill......great video btw, that should be the main calisthenics to warm your body up......getting pumped up and get started with your daily morning routine.

+JPLMONEY23 Great points made! Thank you bro. Yes, Footwork training is great morning aerobics! It helps to shake off and fatigue collected from the previous day or training session.

Filipino martial arts definitely have the best footwork. Other styles have sort of make up as you go along.

Is putting your legs together OK in FMA? it is considered grave mistake in many styles, putting it into basic drill is very bad, but perhaps it is nothing to care about?

I think Bruce Lee probably had better footwork being a Traditional Wing Chun practitioner. That however does not mean Ali didn't have amazing footwork in his prime.
