To get my "kitchens" to grow, I take a small portion of the longer hair above it and incorporate it into the the twist, plait, or whatever I'm doing. I also, tie that up into the twist, plait above that one! This actually encourages it to grow and eventually won't look like "kitchens".

Hi Eugenia, keep braiding/plaiting your kitchen in with the longer hairs, and also wrap a scarf or hair band around your hair when you take a bath/shower. Taking these these steps will help the hairs at the nape of your neck grow as long as the rest of your beautiful hairs.

I like the way to twist the front prior to cornrowing your hair. It looks great both ways; however, again I love how you twist it. Also, I think your nape should be left out and that you should continue moisturizing as you are and allow it to grow out unless those are baby hairs. I like how you care for them and sometimes we can't help it if our hairs decide to stay out and away from other hairs. You are doing a great job. I just received your leave in conditioner in the mail today and look forward to using tonight. I also tried your deep conditioner last week and love it. KEEP GOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i was relaxed from 11-22 and for most of that time i had a short kitchen and never knew what to do with it. when i went to college i started leaving it alone. not brushing or combing it, just letting it be. then it became thick and had grown to be about 2 inches. so i continued leaving it alone and it is now the same length as the rest of my hair. it needs to be moisturized more often if it is too short to go in a twist or braid, but other than that it's the same maintenance as the rest of the hair.

Subscribed because you call your nape kitchen like I grew up calling it. When I was younger I used to line (shave/trim) my kitchen. My 13 yr old just asked me to line hers recently. Now that I'm older and I've truly embraced my natural hair, I feel like my kitchen is giving what it's supposed to give. When I'm doing a more "kept" style I just wet, moisturize-LCO, and lay it down with a scarf. I use a little Jam sometimes too. More often though, it's a bunch of tight curls back there.

The kitchen: My kitchen is ridiculous. It has very straight hairs and very weird hairs that lay straight and then curl into 4c tight coils. I have to give my kitchen extra care. If I sweat its the first part of my hair to absorb the moistures and get soaking wet and the first part to form tight naps. Over the years I just give this section extra love. Extra deep conditioner - extra prep poo extra leave in extra brushing...Finally == I have just come to love her for who she is. And I don't let other people teasing me bother me. Don't shave it. Love it. Press it. Gell it down.

@os4305 2 жыл бұрын
@@wavejackson1112 I’m sorry to hear that….my hair is mid back length and I want to get it to waist length. I have 4b low porosity medium density hair. I have shrinkage just like Eugenia so when I stretch my hair to check the length, it’s always interesting…. I’ve revamped my entire routine - my hair is usually in protective hairstyles. Her products have made my hair feel much much lighter; I started using them in the middle of the second month of having knotless braids. As for you thinking your hair is not growing, what are your routines? Your hair is growing but if you feel you aren’t seeing growth, the rate of breakage is greater than your hair growth, making you feel as if your hair isn’t growing. I’d suggest getting her products - they’re quite easy to apply when having a protective style like knotless braids or faux locs. Learning what styles work for you also help. For example, I can no longer do regular box braids or faux locs because no matter how much I wash my hair and clarify my scalp, the products I use rest at the top of my new growth and they sit in my hair, causing me to have patches of product that won’t wash out. I would also watch EfikZara. I’ve currently infusing an oil mixture that she has on her channel along with a grease mixture. Since my hair is low porosity, I find that sealing my hair off with grease extends my moisturizing routine until Sunday, where I rinse and repeat (literally). I’ve also invested in her literature to have access to her recipes and products. Also check out Indigenous Strandz :) Be consistent with your journey, keep notes if you have to (that’s what I do, in Notion; I have a chart, documentation, and an organized product list).

My nape is actually just as long as the rest of the hair on the back of my head but the sides of my nape is very curly and shorter. I just leave it alone tbh. I think if you sweat a lot and have your hair down along your neck and stuff, maybe all the sweat and buildup gets caught up in that hair, and maybe that's why it's not growing out. Idk though. Im probably wrong.

One tip I discovered. You have to protect your hair from rubbing against certain harsh fabrics. Particularly collars, sweaters, etc. The collar of my coat used to shave the back of my hair off every winter. .my beautician pointed out what was causing that. She suggested wearing a silk scarf around my neck to protect the hair from rubbing against wool and other fabrics. When ever I go out in the winter. I will pin the back of my hair up. When I get where I am going. I will let the hair down. that resolved the issue of my coat shaving off the back hairs.

So I put rubber bands (the ones for little kids) and I braid small box braids. My baby hairs dont fall out that way and the bottom of my hair appears longer because its a smaller section. But don't do it too tight or it will cause traction alopecia.

For my "kitchen" which in my culture we call it "grang grang". If i am doing box braids, I include it in but if i don't want to i get gel and put it up. For cornways i do the same thing :) i also straighten it sometimes if i was to straighten

I’ve been taking notes on all your videos and I cannot wait to see the change in my hair! Quick question, during the 4-6 weeks of your protective style you only use the Bhringraj or serum on your hair?

I put my kitchen and baby hairs into tiny twists then I twist or attach them around the base of the longer braided or twisted section. The kitchen or baby hair twists tend to stay in until the hair grows out, when this happens they tend to be much thicker and longer because they have been getting moisture and protection (reduced friction) from the larger braid

Every now and then, I personally alternate with oils(heavy and light) in it. This has helped saving my hair from extra dryness during the protective hairstyle removal process.

Start with finger detangling, then use a wide tooth comb or brush of you prefer, you'll get less hair breakage that way 🙂

Lovely😍.since my hair reached my waist , I decided not to cornroll any more, it's too much work. I just braid it the whole head and wear it out like that, my kitchen is like baby hairs so I leave it out to do it's thing , lol

Ive bought the leave n conditioner and the black Castrol oil i haven't really gotten to use it yet because i had a sew in and it was kinda difficult reaching my braids. But im sticking with crochet hairstyles from now on. So i can use the products without such a struggle. Excited to start using them.
