As a character designer /visual development artist after I graduated from Vancouver film school in 2019 while I wanted to start and create my portfolio so that I can get a job easily and get noticed. My parents often try to step me away from my portfolio telling me to give up and just apply without a portfolio because negative people who work in the animation industry but doing technical stuff like vfx and 3D animation who are my parents contacts from family friends who constantly tell my parents it will never happen because concept art is difficult job to get and I am wasting time on just chasing my silly dream and only apply as a 3D animation or a vfx person. This discouraging me and made me depressed and so I overcame it and so I ignored them and worked hard on my portfolio developed it more and started applying for jobs and got freelance gigs,, watch your videos and motivate myself more and find my happiness. But many years later in 2022 I became a senior character designer/ visual development artist(concept artist) in an animation company in Toronto working on an animation feature film collaborating with great people and making friends with positive people and starting to get noticed on Instagram because I was posting personal projects and doing a couple of fan art. Thanks for these tips will definitely need them in a few years time once I am done with high school. I was actually thinking about my goals and how I can get the help of my parents because I am really interested in the path of acting. I always have fun doing it and I am quite good at it(since I had done a lot of acting as a child). I have only spoken with my mum about it and she isn't really on board with it since it's a risky career and more of a lucky game when it comes to being chosen(also multiple talents actors need). Whenever I mention it, I never actually mean Hollywood level acting, I just want to do what I love to do and not what others want me to do and I hope my mum will change her mind in the future

I wasted my life by explaining to convince parents for morethan 10 years for my dream. I should have seen this video before 10 years. I wasted and my dream is not in handy now. I am lost almost everything. And this is my final chance, let me try without them.

I just wanna be a youtuber but my father believes that I am not gonna make money out of it, also he wants me to become (idk how this job called in English so I will just describe it ) a job with economics but that just doesn't gonna make me happy in life, after all I am really young like 12 years old so I think it's kinda early to talk about it but PLEASEEEEE tell me your opinion down below.

My situation is even worse. I wanna be a KZbinr / Do Online marketing stuff but my parents don't support it at all. They always make jokes out of me saying "He won't study let him do his shit ass KZbin ". And other stuff. They force me to be a doctor or a engineer. but I'm not happy with that. I have to withstand what they say everyday about me. They always scold me because I don't like studying. I'm honestly very sad currently but I give myself hopes by saying that I'll show them that I will be successful.

@@AyanBoooOmg, same. I also want to be a KZbinr / Roblox developer, and my parents don’t believe I will succeed. I love watching all those people making videos every day and making kids smile, and I want to do that too some day. My parents say that I have to learn their language and master it so that I can take over their company. However, I don’t want to. I am current 13 years old now, but ever since I was 9 I’ve always had my hopes up, and now I’m starting to give up. My parents also think that KZbin / games won’t do anything in your life, but I’ve tried proving them wrong. (which didn’t work) Anyways, I hope you achieve your goal, be successful, and prove your parents wrong. Remember, you got this, and that I believe in you.

@@kvylee_rblxima tell yall both right now, yall are young as hell. Keep doing what ur doing. Im 18, so regardless ima take the big step and tell my parents i am doing what I want to do in life regardless of the risks. Even if it means i gotta leave the house. You and I dont wanna be 40-50 years old saying, “I wish I stuck to this” idk if u have a change of mind as of now but if u still dont keep doing wut u are doing. If we rlly only get 1 life, we can’t live it playing it safe.

Im 15 and i want to become a roblox developer. I know how to code and i know that if i try hard enough iwnill succeed, but my parents think that im wasting time. Theh cut me off from internet if i have bad grades, not for a week, not for two weeks, for 2 months.. I want to follow my dreams but theres simply no way for me to practice, im trying to keep my grades high but without internet i cant study which makes me get even worse grades. Last year i didnt have internet acces for 5 months in a row and i had to go to my friends house simply to watch a video. @@kvylee_rblx

@dkguy12 That’s what I’m currently experiencing with my mom(I want to be a writer/poet) But she keeps saying that “It’s not a real career, that’s it’s only an hobby.” I’m in in 20s and I’m just so fed up with her.
