The natural progression of a Camaro Owner. Pull the fuse...still not happy. Upgrade exhaust...it goes quiet too soon thanks to AFM. Buy Range Device to disable AFM....NOW YOU ARE HAPPY! Now we are left wondering if we had bought the Range device from day one....if we needed to upgrade the exhaust. Well...I am glad i did!

Thank you for this video! I've been debating about whether to pull the fuse or not. However, after watching this video, I went for it. I checked the value after a few mins, and it remained opened. I did not see any error codes on the dash. I can't wait to get out driving to test the sound.

In my 2021 RS there’s a setting where you can disable automatic selection on the exhaust sounds based on mode select and I just select to have it on sport sound on every mode (my RS only has sport, tour, and snow/ice)

It’s in the infotainment center, under vehicle, the engine sound management. You can also set your steering to be in one mode all the time. But if you don’t pull the fuse, the AFM, will close the valves still, when it switches to V4.

In the settings there is a "Engine sound" selection, and you can use 5 different settings. 1.Auto 2.stealth 3.Tour 4.Sport 5.track. I have a 2021 SS1-1LE, and when the setting is selected, regardless of what I select to drive in, my exhaust remains the same. I really don't get why you would want to completely disable that function. I do like my exhaust loud, and I plan on doing some big time replacement of stock components from headers on back, but regardless of what I install, I intend on retaining the NPP function. You never know if you might need to stealth out on down the road and I'd hate to have it disabled and not be able to find the fuse, etc etc etc. I just don't get it at all TBH, it's just a button push in the cockpit? To each their own though I always say. I've heard folks say that they think the stock exhaust is plenty loud enough for them too, but we all know that's not true 🤣🤣🤣.

Okay I read some of the comments and it appears that this only applies to the Auto... Active fuel management.. it seems. Thankfully I bought the 6 speed... I have heard great things about the current Auto trans, but I just can't purchase the Auto, when I have the chance to get a stick shift. I'm pretty certain one day they are not going to be available and that stick is a huge reason that this car is so awesome imo. Thanks

Even in track mode the valves close some under certain speed and rpm, this eliminates that and the need to consistently go into settings and change the mode on every startup
@NarLyNaRdi
@NarLyNaRdi Жыл бұрын
You should just do an AFM delete and get rid of that AFM module/valve. That AFM is terrible for your engine and causes premature lifter and engine failure. Not to mention, that AFM is only good for about 1-2 MPG. You bought a V8, not for the fuel economy, so whoever thought it was a good idea to put the AFM on the SS and ZL1 models, had to be higher than a kite. If you want a Camaro, and good gas mileage, go by a 4 cylinder smh🤦‍♂️
@jasonagosto5127
@jasonagosto5127 Жыл бұрын
When deleting the AFM what do you do that the actual AFM module and wiring it self?
@NarLyNaRdi
@NarLyNaRdi Жыл бұрын
@@jasonagosto5127 Usually when you do a full AFM/DOD delete, you have to take the top half of the motor apart and replace the lifters, lifter trays, camshaft, etc and then you have the vehicle tuned, to disable the AFM from the ECM and this ensures no CEL light. Then you can unhook the valve and sell it or save it and zip tie the wire to the harness. Or you can buy a range AFM disabler that plugs into your obd2 connector ($200 on Amazon) and leave it plugged in. AWE also makes a valve simulator that hooks to the original wiring, if you want to put aftermarket exhaust on there, that doesn’t have AFM and you don’t want to do an AFM total delete. It cost me 6k to do a total delete but that included a BTR 225 cam that added 100 horses and the tune, that was 1k by itself.

@@shaadow1le523 even if you set it to sport or track exhaust mode in settings the valve will still close when in a higher gear or at low rpm’s, or when you start up your car the valves will close a couple seconds after startup. That’s why sometimes if you press on the gas slightly you’ll hear the exhaust get louder then quiet down again because the valves close.

Not hating on this at all, because I'm a fan of these cars and the louder the better in my opinion. Just wondering why pull the fuse as opposed to just putting it in track mode when you want it loud? From a driver's perspective, is track mode a big difference from touring or sport?

@JCSCUSTOMS
@JCSCUSTOMS 2 жыл бұрын
Nice! So what that does is change the valve position based on the mode selected, track mode meaning valves are fully open. When the car starts, it always starts fully open then closes to tour. By pulling the fuse mentioned in the video, your car will always sound like track mode regardless of what mode you are in because it can’t relay back to the valves to close. This will not throw a code👍🏼

I’m confused bro I have the 2022 ss 1le And for the exhaust like I usually keep car in sports mode. When I start the car, it stays in sports mode, Are you saying the valve works more throttle based? I’m not sure. Maybe it’s different for manual? I just don’t get it because when I start my car it gets quieter but I thought because it warms up etc not because of valves I only thought valves changed based off changing to your / track / snow / sport etc But ur saying even if I’m in sport and start it will go to your mode style till I get on throttle?

Hey, thanks! So it’s natural for the car to quiet a little after start up, that’s normal. Just like after a cold start it’s super loud then quiets up some; however, it’s not going to get as quiet as it once would under tour mode. You can always get down and look to make sure your valves are still open after it quiets some
