Can you make a video on how to bat/swing/prepare for a wood bat for wood bat leagues
@UltimateBaseballTraining
@UltimateBaseballTraining 6 жыл бұрын
That's a good video idea! The biggest thing is to just swing a wood bat as often as you can to get used to it, the smaller sweet spot, etc.

Justin, this is a great video. I very rarely comment on videos, but couldn't pass on this one. Too often no one ever talks about how important the mental game of baseball is. Honestly evaluating your mistakes and "Failing Forward" is so important, especially in a game like baseball. I really enjoy how you manage to work on and teach all the aspects of the game, not just the physical fundamentals. I'm reading a book right now and it truly is great, written by H. Dorfman, 'The mental Game of Baseball' ( amzn.to/2nGwVvR ). It touches on some of the same approaches you mentioned in the video. Keep up the great videos, and if you haven't read the book by Dorfman, check it out. Having watched many of your videos, I would be willing to bet you have though. :) Anyway, I've used many of your videos to help coach my kid and others, keep up the great work!

Hey Rob! I'm so glad you enjoyed this video and thank you for the comment! I totally agree, the mental game is often overlooked by young players, but it is truly the key to playing at a high level. That's a great book! I've read that a couple times. Another one you'll have to check out (if you haven't already) is Mind Gym.
@RobsInnovationGarage

Justin, Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have to pick it up. It's funny that I just start reading more about the mental aspect of the game, and you come out with a video on similar topic. Perfect Timing! Due to a tournament my son played in this past weekend, where I saw a stark difference between performance in a few players, I wanted more on the topic. Both kids are equally talented, one was positive all weekend and had a great tournament, the other was mentally off and he struggled all weekend. That is what got me thinking about how I help all the kids keep a positive focus and change their mental thoughts. Video fits perfectly. Thanks Again!

Hey coach jusin, I wanted to know how do you compete in a team with favorites during tryouts, especially when these " favorites are bad at what they do?

I’ve encountered this before as well, and the best things you can do, in my opinion, are: 1.) Practice, practice, practice several weeks before tryouts. Work on your weak spots and address them before your potential coach does 2.) Don’t count yourself out of making the team because the coach has favorites...ignore the favoritism when you go to tryouts. You are there to showcase _your_ talent, and you should focus on that completely. 3.) Give tryouts all you got, and then give it some more. Leave it all on the field and show everyone that you have tremendous heart and work ethic 4.) Maintain your composure, even if things aren’t going your way. Showing discipline and maturity is a huge plus in the eyes of a coach. 5.) Professionally and respectfully address the coach one-on-one during and after tryouts. Ask for his feedback and reiterate to him how much you want to be a member of the team. Demonstrate your commitment and dedication to the sport, as well as your communication skills and “coachability” on a personal level. Ask him what areas he’d like to see you improve upon and make an effort to work on those things. 6.) Last, but very important, don’t speak negatively about the “favorites who are bad at what they do” to other potential teammates...Granted, while that may be true and totally legitimate, you definitely don’t want the coach to catch wind of you bad-mouthing potential teammates. Again, forget about all of that during tryouts and focus on what you have control over, which is your performance and effort. This is what the coach is interested in and wants to see from you. You can absolutely make the team even if you aren’t the star player of tryouts...Pure talent is obviously desirable, but coaches also look for players who are mature, coachable and demonstrate a hard work ethic and dedication. Good luck and I wish you the best for tryouts! ⚾️

Show that coach something he’s never seen before from a tryout. Furiously run the bases as though you were being chased by a lion. I mean run as fast as an NFL wide receiver, on EVERY hit. If cutoff man not available 👍, arm that cannon and deliver a ball to the catcher from center field with pin point accuracy and velocity. Bunt perfectly towards 3rd base. Show some athleticism man! Everyone can appreciate a good display of strength and fitness. Good luck!!!💪⚾️
