Conversations don't have to be competitions. Giving pause allows you to shift focus from your reply to really listen to the person with whom you're speaking! Become a better communicator by learning to say less. The Power of the Pause

Ryan is also a three-time TEDx presenter.

For anyone doing public speaking, making presentations, or who just plain care about the people they are engaged in a conversation with this is fantastic advice to listen to and review from time to time. I know that I certainly will. Thank you very much for a job excellently done.

It would be more valuable if he had addressed what to do when your pause just means you don’t get to speak. I think by not offering a solution for us, other than ‘that person who likes to talk forever will just like you more’, he undermines what he’s advocating. A pause is fine in conversations with regular people, perhaps, but with an over talker a pause = endless listening.
