These are the best tips I've seen. My kids are 4 and 6 and I am guilty of having done all of the wrong things like feeding them "kid foods" and alternatives and such. I am now in the process of trying to REVERSE all of their bad habits and I'm not sure if I should go cold turkey with these tips or not.

Unfortunately this will work for some kids but not for really picky eaters. My daughter will rather go hungry than trying new food. I feel very frustrated with all the good tips that we have implemented right from the beginning. She was always part of the cooking process, we are true foodies and love trying new stuff, but it makes no difference. I loooove to eat vegetables, preferably green ones like broccoli, spinach, salad, but my daughter will not eat anything that is green.

Same! My boys will eat anything, my daughter hates all meat, rice, and many other things. We don’t do different foods for dinner. We always put the same foods on their plate. Doesn’t matter if she helps cook it. She will try it and give it a thumbs down. We never push “clean your plate” we always tell them to listen to their bellies. Sometimes you can try all the things and they just don’t want it.

These tips are much easier to implement when your kids are home 24/7 though… super hard when they go to school outside the house! My 5 year old got much pickier once he started school and started getting the free school breakfasts and lunches there

great tips! I definitely resonated with so many of your comments. Our first two are so picky because they grew up eating “kid food” with the third we were like F that sh*t and fed him all kinds of stuff 😅 and he eats anything and everything like a champ 😂 he was eating steamed clams at age 2 🎉

I love it! Great tips! I believe words are so powerful and even just saying you’re picky” with food carries so much weight and they’ll slowly start believing it 🤦🏽‍♀️ It’s like what the minimal mom says too, “any excuse will do” to justify our child’s picky habits. I’ve done it! No shame! Sometimes it’s easier and we’re too tired to even try some days. But you are so right, consistency and a change of bad habits from us will def help our children with bettering their relationship with food. Loving your content! Bluntness and tough love is what some of us need 💕 just give it to me straight girl 😆

Our kiddo ate everything. Then at 3 suddenly became very very picky. We've always had a rule, if you don't like it, don't eat it, but it has to stay on your plate. She also doesn't get seconds of preferred foods unless she's tried everything on her plate. Hoping when she's out of the preschooler age her love for foods will come back!

Many little kids that are labelled as "picky eaters" are actually neurodiverse and/or have sensory issues which impacts their food preferences..... and many of these kids aren't diagnosed until they're older. You could literally do all of these suggestions, and more, and that kid would still not be an adventurous or "good" eater. It IS luck sis. Let's acknowledge that.

It’s not luck. What do you think neurodiverse people do in cultures without the accommodations like microwave Mac and cheese that we have in our society? They don’t starve.

@@kirstencooper193 no but those people likely find whatever couple meals they can tolerate and stick to those. They aren’t going to be adventurous in the same way as one who doesn’t have the same issues no matter the culture

Unfortunately these tips won’t work for most kids or parents. First your home all day with your kids they are home schooled so you can make them every meal and cook from scratch. Also when people go out to eat people do the kids menus cause it’s the cheapest option, also if you have multiple kids it’s expensive to buy every kid a meal of the real menu. Also the healthy foods veggies organic etc are way more expensive.

This is exactly what’s wrong with todays parents. Everything is an excuse. First, If you’re too broke to buy your kids an actual meal, don’t go to a restaurant because you obviously can’t afford it, there’s nothing wrong with that, but check your priorities Second, you can have your kids share one adult meal, and that is not more expensive than 2 kids meals. Third, why would you come watch a video by a stay at home mom and then complain that she has time because she is a stay at home? Fourth, even this whole “ can’t cook because I work” nonsense is nothing but an excuse. I used to cook working full time and going to college full time. I am now a stay at home mom, and yet even a gourmet meal does not that that much time to make, it’s all about practice and getting good at cooking. I’m an excellent cook because I knew that when I became a mother, I want to cook from scratch, I just made a salmon and chickpea bowl for my kids that took like 15 mins and that’s including cooking the salmon, if you have time to go on KZbin and watch a video, you can cook while doing it .
