Learning how to be an efficient and successful housewife seems to be an overlooked skill these days. Rarely do I find mothers talking about the mindset and practical steps beyond how to clean and tidy a home that make the biggest impact on your relationships with your husband and children. So I set out with a mission to learn from an older generation of women who weren't distracted with the digital age and whose sole focus was on raising kind and hard working children, having a strong relationship with their husband, and who take their role as care taker as the most important one in life. I learned a TON and wanted to share with you! Honestly, this is just scraping the surface. I also read a lot on marriage...maybe I should do a part 2 on marriage lessons? Let me know!

I have 3 kids under 3 and the youngest is 2 months. I decided to approach my home as a business and organize my day as such. My mommy "work" uniform I decided was going to be scrubs, they are comfy, light weight and there are lots of pockets which I need for gathering items throughout the day. It has helped a lot to dress for the "work" I'm doing as a busy mom and has helped my mindset.

I loved this video! I actually got 5 minutes into it and I was already so inspired that I got up and took my phone downstairs with me to watch the video while I cleaned up the kitchen (that I knew I was leaving a mess for morning me to clean up!) and I’m so glad I did that. I love that you fully admit that these things are not your natural inclination and that you can tend towards procrastination because that is definitely me. I’m working slowly but surely towards better habits so that my family and household as a whole can be happy and healthy ☺️ Your content since you’ve started doing exactly what you want to do with it has been so life giving, please keep it going!! Thank you 🙌🏻

My mom was a SAHM mom / working mom (never a career woman, but several different jobs over the years). My sister and I went to school. She was one of those who did the cleaning, errands, organization, etc. when we were out of the house and figured if we ever had questions about how to do housework beyond the basics, that we would ask. My FIL and MIL ran a business, plus he pastored for a few years, plus my MIL alternated between homeschooling and Christian school for my husband and his 8 siblings. My husband spent a good deal of his childhood with his grandma taking care of her, so his growing up which pretty much an “all hands on deck - just get it done” type of deal. Fast forward, and my husband and I married while I was in college. He works at the family business his father started, and I work there part time plus we homeschool. I say all this to point out that probably very few millennials on down grew up in the “typical” home life, and due to the moms working dynamic, a lot of us were never truly apprenticed in the art of homemaking. That’s why many women yearn to learn domestic skills but feel so out of their element with it.
@Es24688
@Es24688 3 ай бұрын
So speaking to your first point about mindset - both my husband and I grew up in Christian families and were at church every time the doors were opened. However, that doesn’t mean biblical homemaking was ever a topic of discussion. In fact, college and careers and not marrying “too young” instead came up quite a bit. I was pushed towards college, so there’s almost a guilt that comes with me not having a career while my sister instead works full time at a job she’s had for about a decade. There’s guilt that I’m letting my family down by not being a very good homemaker because I’m still learning so much. There’s also embarrassment that I never learned so many things or mastered any of it before having children. There is also overwhelm that I’m trying to break the cycle in my family and be a very hands on, homeschooling mother who is training my children (especially my girls) to be more knowledgeable and capable than I was about so many things. It’s also overwhelming to not have an older lady as a mentor because I don’t personally know any ladies who were homemakers or homeschoolers. Everyone in my parents’ generation worked it seems like, so no one is able to teach the young ladies, young wives, and young mothers.

The Bible literally says if you spare the rod you spoil the child. It also says a child's heart is bound up in foolishness but the rod of correction will put it far from them. Of course all discipline needs to be balanced and I definitely leave the one up to my husband.
