The thing with dislocating springs is that it allows the loaded wheels to travel further up and with less force. It does this via the seesaw geometry of beam axles. People who criticise saying there is no downforce on the dropped wheel is not understanding the mechanics at play.

Nice to see the test in action

I have the same issue only instead of buying new shocks I have bought shock dropping plates which move the mounts 2 inch lower.
@TheUntraveledPath Жыл бұрын
Yes, it has the same effect on travel and the same issue with bump stops. We will have to extend them

You should add axle bumpstops longer or put spacer that acomodate difference of lenght new shocks vs factory ones in full compressed state. Unless you will bend mounts, destroy shocks or even risk frame crack. Great video what so ever, greetings from @ramblinglando

Yes, the bump stops are next on the list. There is a big gap between the stock ones and the axle now so I will have to make some custom ones or get some hydro bump stops

@@TheUntraveledPath just measure minimal lenght of new shock vs stock one minimal. Sometimes its 50mm sometimes is 25mm sometimes its 70... depend on shock construction.
@jakubstrumillo Жыл бұрын
@@TheUntraveledPath stock minimal lenght of shock are 350mm... if new ones are longer. Just add spacer to fill that gap.

@@jakubstrumillo it wouldn't reach the bump stops even when it was stock. The stock land rover ones are useless, they will need changing

@@TheUntraveledPath it will if you hit bump on high speed ;) Or during climbs when whole body weight lays on rear

link to the Patrol's rear shock absorbers and brackets to mount them?
@silver.d113 күн бұрын
You mean the adapters? Rover's have a pin mount in the axle, so you need to make those adapters for the eye mount of the Patrol's shocks

Do you know when you will need wide angle propshafts?
@TheUntraveledPath Жыл бұрын
Mine doesn't need them yet so I imagine you really need to get a lot of travel in order to have problems with those
