Installing REAR SPRING RELOCATION CONES On A Land Rover Discovery 1 | 4K

After some recent suspension upgrades, the rear springs in our 1998 Land Rover Discovery 1 started to dislocate when off roading. We picked up a set of Terrafirma TF510 rear coil spring relocation cones from a vendor on eBay, who turned out to not be who they said they were.
This process will also work with a coil sprung Range Rover Classic and Defender.

perfect video thank you , I installed new terrafirma springs and extended shocks and found that it flexed really well, in fact well enough to dislocate, so I've ordered some cones. Thanks for sharing

Yup... I've found that a blunt force impact applicator is kinda a necessity in any Disco owner's toolkit!

Right... didn't dislocate once on the loop by Peppersauce cave over on the back side of Lemmon!

On you install your missing the upper rubber isolator's I used a black silicone to secure to the top of the springs, You also need to secure the bottom of the spring to the axle I did not notice you doing that.

The reason there's no clearance is worn body mounts. For mine I unbolted the body and jacked it up

I have LD Discovery 1 300tdi also, and want to know how to replace the fuel filler hose as mine is looking perished.

I'll see what I can do, but it's not failed on mine yet. Do you have copy of the RAVE manual? I've gotta believe the procedure has to be outlined in there.

No, l don't have a copy, but, l soon figured it out without loosing any fuel or breaking the fixed pipes either end of the fuel filler hose. If you have a copy and don't mind sharing it l'd be happy to have one. Thanks for responding.

I was debating doing the cones. I read on most forums that it's not necessary with a 2 inch lift unless there's no sway bars. Might have to revisit it.

Yeah, so long as you have stock length shocks and stock upper shock mounts, you don't need cones with a 2" spring lift. It's only once you increase the shock travel that they come into play.

I have a 4" RTE lift with 12" travel shocks, that's when you need it

As the guys in this thereat have stated, it really only becomes an issue when you have lengthened shocks or lowered upper mounts. Normal upper mount heights and normal length shocks won't allow the axle to droop enough to generally need it. Once you allow for that added droop, it becomes a problem.

Love the video, noticed your D1 no longer has the Land Rover decal on the hood(bonnet). Any reason why? Any plans to put a new decal on?

It was like that when we picked it up. Previous owner had painted it and not replaced it. I might do something with it in the future, if there's time. Cosmetic stuff usually comes last when I'm prioritizing out work on these things.

Not sure on the spring length, honestly, the problem lies more in the lowered upper shock mount than anything. I'm definitely gonna get those extension on before they brake in the field, that would mean an entire new base brake line plus an extension, not to mention trying to get it home whilst missing a set of brakes!
