Galvanized ground rod works better than copper. You need 3ft of ground rod in ground for every Joule of power. Using same wire and rod prevents corrosion that two different metals causes.

You need like 3 to 6 ground rods I'd also use galvanized

We successfully use patriot p30 fence chargers in our pig operation due to the limitations of sun where the pigs are. We use 12v deep cycle marine batteries to power up the units which we rotate out every 2- 3 weeks. Here in South Carolina we have a lot of sand so grounding is an issue we have to dump water around the grounding rods to get good grounding. We also have to use a long grounding rod. Thanks for sharing your practices.

Fortunately I was able to install a grounding rod close to a spring near “Piggy Island”. It kept my IPPs at home for eight months until they went to Hog Heaven two weeks ago. Tim in northern TN😊
