I do the rug, flowers, candle, and change out the towels , the fruit and vegetables according to season, I love limes and lemons in summer and squash and pumpkins for fall. Thanks Ashley for keeping our homes fresh with affordable ideas .

A lamp, art and flowers are my favorite. I recently purchased a rechargeable light in the form of a wine bottle stopper. I had an empty whiskey bottle that I loved the label - Knobs Creek. It makes an awesome little lamp providing so much ambiance.

The paper towel holder inside the trash pull out cabinet. This is the first time I’ve seen it bring hidden by the door front and I love it! It still takes up a drawer but you don’t have to see it!

I personally like just grabbing it with no obstacles. Usually when I need one, I’m not fussing with opening a door first. It’s usually an emergency 🤣 I also don’t like opening a door for the trash, either

I’m getting ready to remodel my kitchen-I can’t wait. It’s a small kitchen without a pantry. The clutter on my counters is because of the lack of space. We will be adding pantry space by stealing it from a small breakfast nook. I look at all those beautiful photos with clear counters longingly!❤ I love your ideas-thanks!

The ~lamp, I have a small one, it is so nice. I will definitely look at the dividers you suggest. I think plants are nice, but have to limit those. One or two fresh herb plants are nice. I am going to make a serious splurge this week, with ordering something custom, tho! Ty for the dose of (great reminders), very lovely video!

It’s a little frustrating to talk about simple changes to get a look, but your video is showing examples of some of the most expensive kitchens. Its very unrealistic

I disagree! We apply all this suggestion in small apartments, studios, two bedroom cottages JUST TAKE HER IDEAS! You can get the same look with Home goods, Target, Hobby Lobby etc. in a very inexpensive way. Good luck 😉

DEFINITELY, Minimal on the kitchen counters! Large vase with greens are beautiful in the kitchen. This is what gives a kitchen a clean and welcoming space to enjoy cooking, coffee or even a relaxing glass of wine. So many friends kitchens I go in and there is so much clutter on the counters and in the sink. Looks so messy and sloppy. GREAT HELPFUL TIPS👍thank you.

I recently sold the large home where I raised my family and have had built a MUCH smaller home for my retirement years. I decided to forgo lower cabinets for large drawers, on the recommendation of my builder, however, maybe I'm just a slob, but I find that everything seems to just get tossed into those drawers any old way. Do you have any tips on organizing those drawers?
@cindianderson94433 ай бұрын
I've never seen that slanted skillet organizer, and it's not on your list. Is that from a cabinet company?

I went to visit a friend a few months ago she kept a beautiful home but when she took me to the kitchen there was absolutely NOTHING on her kitchen counter I mean NOTHING I really didn’t like the look her kitchen looks like no one lives in her house. I love keeping out a few nice things on my counter my paper towel going nowhere I use it daily my toaster not going nowhere my knife block not going anywhere to each their own.

I think the designer of my kitchen set out to make the most dysfunctional kitchen cabinets - EVER. The drawers are tiny. 3 inches deep, 7-9 inches wide. And there’s a lot of them. The cabinets have a three inch piece of wood going down the center of every opening. And they are tiny openings, too. None of the offered solutions help me! GAH! 😭

@valerierandall36403 ай бұрын
Your ideas were good ones, unfortunately I’m one of the lucky people that have very little storage cabinets and only 3 small drawers in one unit. It’s tough…I’ve resorted to moving a couple of freestanding units from different areas of our home to create more storage. It sort of works but it’s a small eat-in kitchen so really nowhere truly functional for a table. In fact I’m rearranging it today. Thanks for the inspiration - I’ll keep them in mind while I work on it.

I am glad you had the idea of adding a lamp to the kitchen, or any other room for that matter. I would say that furniture is the biggest item you start out with in a room most of the time and it is not something you switch out every time you change the flowers on the mantelpiece. Second would be rugs and curtains maybe. You wouldn't switch those out either, every time you change the centerpiece on the dining room table. The third biggest items would be lamps and artwork - I don't know which first. I have never been one to notice lamps or artwork because I don't need any - I have enough. I never knew you could change them with the seasons. I am still skeptical about changing curtains, pillows or throw blankets for summer and winter! Some months ago I gave myself the challenge of going to Goodwill and looking for lamps and artwork that would go together, as an exercise in observation. I went to two Goodwills in one day and found lots of lamps and artwork to put together. It was amazing ! I got so lucky. There was enough room on the lamp shelves to set a picture beside a lamp to see what looked good together. I took notice of the color of the lamps, then looked for any artwork that may have that same color. The lack of shades on some lamps, the wire shelves, and the outlets didn't seem to matter. 1. I found a Madonna with a rich blue cloak & brown frame, to go with a lamp that was a soft muted blue gray color with flowers and leaves embossed on it. 2. I found a framed poem with a marbled gray mat & gold frame to go with a classical, square based, hour-glass-shaped cadet-gray lamp. 3. I found an Italian valley landscape with mountains in the background, white houses & tile roofs, a green field planted in rows & amber sunflowers in the foreground, and a simple wide soft gold frame. I matched this with a pair of bronze lamps that had a round amber globe in the middle of the lamp stand that picked up on the amber color of the sunflowers. The white shade picked up on the narrow white mat in the picture. 4. I found a picture of 4 pink calla lilies & grayish leaves, in a matching pink art nouveau-style vase with a deep dusty rose background & a black and gold beaded frame. This went with an Early American-style medium dusty rose jug-lamp with darker rose-colored tulips stenciled on one low corner. 5. I found a sci-fi picture with a monster and royal blue sky scrapers at night which said Leonardo on it. Amazingly this matched up with a simple cobalt blue urn-shaped lamp. 6. A picture of the Eiffel Tower at night showed a green glow in the street lights beside the arched bridge. I matched this with a soft green globe lamp with ridges showing latitude and longitude. 7. I found a kelly green segmented lamp with a round base & a white shade covered in green starbursts. A botanical print of elderberries, green leaves and white frame went nicely with this lamp. 8. A butterscotch column-shaped lamp with a brass base was a challenge. I finally found a picture of a mare and foal in a stable which said, "A Mother's Love Knows No Limits." The simple medium-sized frame had the look of brown barn wood. So there you have it! None of the lamps alone looked impressive, and neither did the pictures. But when you put them together they popped ! Of course I didn't buy anything. I showed pictures of my finds placed together to the local consignment store owner and he was impressed. The next time I went in there he had artistically arranged all the lamps and much of the artwork on a high shelf all around the room and turned on a lot of the lamps. It was beautifully curated. I hope when our friends go shopping again they will notice lamps and artwork and pay attention to the colors and styles. This is a fun exercise in observation ! You are so inspiring !
