That's probably the most adorable way possible to start a video on this topic! Cute cow aside, really appreciated your pragmatic take towards managing and minimizing one 's fears - after quitting my job, a number of people had the perception that I had suddenly summoned up the courage to do so when actually there had been many months of working to overcome my fears beforehand. Also love that you bring up that even if you're jobless and you need money, you can figure something out with your background and a healthy mind and body - so true!

Prize for Best Comment on this vid definitely goes to you! 🙏😄 People always like to think change is one big impressive stride when they look at other people who have actually executed change, but like you said, successful change is inevitably the result of many accumulative little steps forward, inch by inch, unseen behind the scenes. It took me months as well. Actually i remember i was obsessed with the idea of quitting for so long, everyday, it became inexorable for me. I guess that's what they mean when they say "pure hell forces action" haha. And yeah they always make quitting the job sound like the end of the world. Bollocks. So many other ways to make a livelihood out there. Cheers to u n me both!

@@JeanVoronkova Wow thanks for your kind and thoughtful reply! I couldn't agree with you more, and appreciate hearing about your own journey behind the scenes (also describing quitting as "inexorable" is a great way to put it). Wishing you all the best!

Jean 💘Your videos are really soothing my fears right now. I've already announced my 3 months "break" from my corporate job. I didn't hate my job, and I feel very grateful to have such a good job as I have rigth now.. The "only" problem is that I know that I am wasting my time there, my soul came here to do something totally different, and I strive to do something more meaningful and impactful. So here it came.. after many many years, I found the courage to do it and in April I am heading to Thailand. Finally do some more in depth traveling and exploration. Then I will go to Bali (if it's gonna be possible this year due to covid restrictions). Oh, how much I wish to meet you there! :) But I know you must be 'famous' now and cannot meet with everyone from your fans :) It would be amazing though, if by some coincidence I'll stumble upon you and Vitali :) Thank u for doing these videos about Bali😌 and about encouraging people to follow their dreams. Your plans for Thailand and Bali sound exciting and i know it's gonna be a huge time of positive change and personal growth fpr you because doing such stuff always leads to that! we're just ordinary folks V and I but we are indeed a bit shy n reclusive so we just generally mind our own business quietly in the Uluwatu area... but if u do see us please come say hi! My biggest fear is to raise money to buy a property that i see is a great investment for years to come. Spoke to my girlfriend over the whole month of July and till now there is still this fear of "what if" after watching your video, i felt better and i will try to overcome this in my own ways. Thanks for the wonderful video Jean.
@JeanVoronkova2 жыл бұрын
the reality is that it can always happen that your expectations for your property doesn't materialise. I m also in a similar situation - bought something expensive in Singapore that didnt bring the ROI that i expected so far (its been a decade!) - still, i have enforced savings in the value of the property in the form of mortgage payments that paid off the capital, and its still mine to cash in at the right point of time in the future. Most important is that buying this property didn't limit my chances of doing other investments that turned out better. IT just took time to save again and do other stuff again. Actualise the fears and have an action plan to deal with - that always helps a lot for me!

The first ones you mentioned are exactly what I fear when I quit this job. How will I pay my mortgage, hospital bills, what if I become homeless, what if I beg for someone's money in order for me to have food. But apparently, I realized that I will never run out of job offer because of my degree, so I am quietly quitting my job by doing the bare minimum of the workloads, I know that it sounds selfish but I don't find fulfillment doing my current job. I am actually grateful with this job, because of this I could start a new life after 2 or 3 years. This job helps me survive and plan for my future, but I know in the visceral part of me telling that I could do something else that could help me thrive and be fulfilled.

Thanks for the awesome video. Many good reminders for my journey.. I have always faced my fears head on. I think what has held me back is due to missing pieces of information on how to put all of my received information together. Or maybe just an awakening that forces it. I had to see that I was a slave to my bills and my way of life even though I had been making good money. Then I got sick of it, lowered bills, started investing, etc., and meow I am focusing all of my energy on a few things, one being financial wealth within 5 years.. thanks again🙏
@JeanVoronkova3 жыл бұрын
heya thanks for sharing the story of your own journey! Sounds like you already have developed a good consciousness of what may be holding you back (the lifestyle and letting money control our lives etc.) and thats the really important first step towards taking back control, now that you've identified the issue areas. Also u're right about the "awakening". It's like how millions of people read all those books by successful people about how they got successful but then we put the books and the things we learnt right away after we finished, waiting for a kick in the head before we take action maybe 😂. Take little steps forward day by day i think and one gets there eventually. But we must move forward each day even if just by a little bit!

I left my country (Spain) 22 years ago. I am still young, early 40s. I now have three nationalities and my wife (she is British/Chinese) and I have three properties and quite good savings, probably for the next 25 or 30 years. Its our dream to retire early and for that we didnt have children and we have been saving as much as possible for a few years... as I write this we have 775 days (2 years and 1 month approx) to retire according to the cash flow we planned... but we are both extremely tired and considering stopping now... we have been to Bali several times and are discussing about moving there in the next 4 or 5 months and stop... but I am scare. When I left Spain I studied two degrees but was getting paid just enough to survive. Once my salary increased we bought properties so it was all about saving/investing... but in the past few years things are different. Now I make around $250k per year and my wife is not far from that. And still, the weird thing is that now that we have properties, lots of savings... we are affraid to quit such great jobs, particulalry becuase we dont have much longer to go. I would like to move to Bali in September, my company would hold my position for 4 months, and see how it goes.. relax, live life a little... but I am extremely scared and concerned that its inmature to do it now when we have just a couple of years to tick all the boxes. At the same time, we no longer go out on weekends, we just live in the sofa watching movies and saving... we are both tired and depressed. We have been working very hard for a long time and while we are both healthy, some minor health issues are appearing now, mainly to do with the fact that we dont exercise/go out at all. I was quite poor when younger and now that we have all this money, properties and pension plans I am still scare... I think 10 more of your videos and we go for it :) Thanks!

You get the freedom to live life on your own terms.... not your boss... not the company... not anyone else's? I never quit blindly. I thought about it until it drove me mad that i wasn't doing it and then i went off and did it, but during the time in between i planned what i was going to do next, i took care of my liabilities, sold my car, rented out my apartment etc. And thought about what i would do if things didn't work out. I agree starting with baby steps is essential to begin this change! u look so so pretty

Thanks Jean another really good video, I'm just about to take that step myself, my plan was to work on the first issue and knowledge base the point where i can focus the majority of my time on the things important to me and my family. I've definitely been too conservative and getting married and bringing a life into this world in covid times makes me question my decision, but not enough to change my mind. Thanks again for you wisdom, kindness and intelligence 🙏
@JeanVoronkova3 жыл бұрын
Hey Vlad, thanks for this kind note I'm glad you found the video helpful. It has been observed in the US and in Singapore that there have been 2 opposing (& rather extreme in both cases) responses to the Covid pandemic. It's either made people (esp the younger ones) very risk averse (ie: hang on to job no matter what you suffer in it) or very YOLO! I don't believe in an extreme emotional response to anything but i do think the issue of being happy with what you do for your life's work is important and critical that people figure out how to do the best for themselves, step by step even tho progress is gonna always be slow. I'm sure your baby will also bring you the most joy and happiness and even more love into your union, just factor that into the overall equation and move forward with each new day :) You can do it!

Hi Jean, I'm summoning up the courage to make a major move(and possible career change) with my husband. We want more control of our time and how we earn money. Your videos are encouraging and I am inspired by your different ways of approaching obstacles. Question: how does one reconcile with the fact that governments and corporations have their own agendas, as you mentioned, yet we rely on them as means to invest and make money, i.e. government bonds, stocks in corporations, etc? Your response is appreciated 🙂
@JeanVoronkova5 ай бұрын
Hi Kimberly, in my opinion there isn't an outright conflict that prevents anyone from continuing to progress their own life. I think it is important to have that consciousness that the public narrative we're being fed isn't necessarily right (for each and every individual - it may work for some more than others), and that it isn't necessarily being propagated in the best interests of all of us (again, maybe some more so than others clearly). But unless one is prepared to try to totally forge an off-grid life like in preparation for an apocalypse like in so many movies these days, then we must all continue to exist and function to some extent within the paradigm of present society as we know it. Which also means utilizing what you know to make the best of what you have, including whatever investment instruments are at your disposal....
@JeanVoronkova5 ай бұрын
clearly though that's just my little person opinion from a little corner in some far flung part of South East Asia..... i do not hold myself out to know anything or be an authority on any subject. I just share what has worked well for my own life so far on KZbin in case it may be helpful to others.
@kimberlyblough5655 ай бұрын
Thank you for your response. I also watched a video where you don’t recommend quitting without having enough money(you said you had some) and trying to figure it out as you go along. How did you approach that?
