Today we are looking at the first "Modular Detailing" idea at how we can use the concept of path against road action in various forms to help detail our road networks. This is really a trial type of modular build so if you guys enjoy it, please let me know by liking and commenting. Please also let me know what types of detailing you'd like covered in this series below.

There is some functionality to using path on road action. It blocks zoning along the road, so can be use to get more complete zoning along a parallel road.

Please do continue with this kind of modular building. It is very educational and relaxing :)

In one of his Mars videos (early in the build) City Wok City Wall did a little testing on roads with pavement and park paths. The conclusion was that the paths have a higher "speed limit" for pedestrians and that means the pedestrians will always choose a path over a sidewalk because they will get to their destination more quickly!

Feeding that lovely algorithm to say YES PLEASE to more detailing in modular builds! Giving people more options and inspiration for modular building, and showing off your incredible talents with this game. Absolutely more of this in the future!

Since I started watching your videos I started to enjoy the game even more. I like how you "struggle" with the not modded game and find solutions I would have never thought about. Keep up the great work :)

At the end of my very busy days, I look forward to seeing your latest videos. I have learned so much! But the best is, you take the time to explain tips, tricks and work arounds, plus I love inspirations! I have all this empty land and it never fails, I just draw a straight road. LOL. So love your ideas for some creativity! Most of all… I can’t wait until you start the Southwest theme. I live in the U.S. Southwest, so I will be glued to that series for sure! Please keep the great vids coming!

The first bit is almost exclusively how I handle pedestrian traffic in my commercial & industrial areas. Keeps people out of my busier intersections without having to rely on pedestrian bridges at every intersection. I'll often do this then use node controller & TM:PE to make a crossing with traffic light control halfway between intersections. I hate having too many overhead pedestrian bridges on my intersections, so I'd add never underestimate the power of tunnels!👍

Implementing all these ideas will spice up my simple boring paths. 😃 I would absolutely love to see more detailing modular builds.

I like the multi-height crossover paths, but it might be interesting to connect all 4 corners of the intersection to reduce pedestrian traffic on the ground level.

On a fuller note, I personally enjoyed the idea behind this 'different' approach to the modular build series, but it may be as I only view the series to kick-start an idea or two for my own builds rather than as a 'instructional template' to replicate measurement for measurement in my own game. So in that respect, the format hasn't really altered how I use it. 👍

I think using something like the Zoning Toolset would help a lot when building this kind of setups, that is if you are using mods. I do like the reduced (if any) use of mods approach though.

I like these ideas! But it's a pity that the maintenance cost of paths is so expensive in the game. They cost as much as roads, which is ridiculous. Paths should be about 10% the cost of a basic road.

Why don’t we get rid of cars and get efficient trains everywhere. Zoning laws are the dumbest thing ever.
