What stance do you take when you are wounded by others? Do you blame God or others?

Never blame God

I try to always go to the Lord for His compassion and healing. Then I ask why this has affected me so much. If necessary, I go through a time of inner healing with Him. Sometimes that inner healing requires a 2nd party to facilitate it. I am completely responsible for my own heart. That does not excuse the words or behavior of others, of course. However, straightening them out is God’s job not mine.

Honestly? through years of recovery work from my own wounds, it's as if I have lost my ability to be offended by others- I know that probably sounds prideful, but it is from a place of humility that is at the core of my admission of how I have wounded others. Again, I see it as such a gift. I am not saying I would never be offended, but it has become difficult for me to take that position as easily as I used to. And I actually love that gift .... kind of like Brene's book the GIFT of imperfection ... humanity

Like-minded fellowship and worship is why we go to church

I am new to church ministry hurt and it’s only been about 3 weeks since the scheme. I don’t ever want to allow the enemies weapons to prosper by my open wounds. These pod casts have been SO helpful for me. I believe all leadership should go through these🙏

I think in some way you are right, but remember when people starts to go to church, many are so wounded and need deep healing, BEFORE they can do what you say. If we were healed already before we come to Christ it would be easy to not be hurt by others, and have healthy boundaries, BUT this is not often and we need leaders who themself are healthy, so the people can feel safe there and not be wounded again and again.

Rita do you have any messages for same-sex attracted people? Since you are speaking of being wounded by churches.

I remember when the Jesus people hit local churches. The kids that were raised in the church were kicked to the curb. You reap what you sow church. And they brought in Hells Angels, drugs, warlocks and witches, everybody gave their heart to the Lord and were put in the pulpit. Going back to Jonah, he was in the stomach of the whale and the acid in there ate his skin. That's why he was sensitive to the sunlight and was in great pain. The Assyrians in Ninevah were a barbaric military force that loved to torture people, something like Oct 7th in Israel. They repented and lasted another generation till the Babyalonians showed up for payback. Also, Moses saved Lot and the survivors of that war went on to build Sodom and Gomorrah and we know what happened to them. “Mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent.” Adam Smith

I think you speak to those christians who already are mature and walked with the Lord for a long time. But what about the new born? We can not expect those to react in the way you explain I think 😊

Rita - if you read this, then you are supposed to read this. As you have ONE pair of eyes. Many responding. Finally I am in a position/place that Jesus Christ REGARDLESS must always come f i r s t . The pastor/minister/elder - tries as best as he can - b u t - he is as all the rest of us are -- H U M A N . Will they/do they disappoint ? yes, as they are human. It be only Jesus Christ, The Holy Ghost who can minister deeply within and to me. So part of me says, to lean on the arm of the flesh - WILL G U A R A N T E E failure. To want that - just trust too much the flesh. God says : N O - lean not....... on your own understanding. But beautifully - just T R U S T God. He is perfectly/perfectly faithful, trustworthy.

This is so true and filled with wisdom and God’s compassion. Jesus is our benchmark. Always. He did not exercise His right to hold a grudge or hold onto unforgiveness. Some of His words were “Father, forgive them. They don’t know what they’re doing.” That is meant to be our creed. Forgiveness, mercy and grace. Boundaries when necessary but without rancor. You dealt with this topic so well. Thank you, and God bless you.

The other thing that stops people from getting involved is, " Oh, you have to be a member" I'm a " member of the body of christ. What's with this " membership?
