Steve from Country Financial visits the Tractor Time with Tim homestead to bring us our new insurance policies. We were frustrated with our insurance, not knowing if we were properly covered for our tractor business. Steve is a old high school friend of TTWT who also is an insurance agent who could answer all our questions.

This was a great video, Tim! Very informative. I disagree completely with the comment that this was one long commercial. That’s just not true. I know a little bit about commercial coverages and this video did a very good job of opening peoples eyes to the potential need for better coverage. Thanks for pulling it together.

Tim and Christie, Thanks for posting this - very informative! We have had to cycle through several different insurance companies with our little farmlet over the last 20 years... Mostly because they don't know nor understand what they are covering! One company, one year after being with them, came back at renewal time and said we needed to clean up our place, get rid of the tractors and implements in our parking lot next to the barn and move our "train cars" off the property and cut down all of our hedgerows so our neighbors could see if our house catches fire... First - it's a FARM, we will have tractors and implements! Second - the "train cars" are overseas shipping containers that will NOT burn as they are 1/4" steel we use for storage. Third - the whole reason we bought this place was the privacy offered by the hedgerows. Fourth - we built our home, barn and outbuildings out of NON combustible materials to mitigate fire risk. So why am I paying them for fire insurance for buildings that are impossible to burn?!? (The contents will but the buildings won't!) It's rather difficult to set steel and concrete on fire! One company actually had the gall to tell us we have too much equipment for them to cover for liability... Like a farm isn't supposed to have heavy equipment sitting around?!? One company told us we had to cut down our hedgerows before they would insure us for fires... What do they do for people who live in a forest? We have a new insurance company now and our agent was all over this in a heartbeat! She laughed at them over the phone when we did a conference call! "State farm" doesn't like to cover "farms"! Insurance is like a minefield. It pays to have a GOOD agent that knows farming! Luckily, we have a good agent... And YOU do too, evidently! Dealing with insurance companies are like dealing with the devil... Thanks for posting - people need to know this stuff!

A very informative and helpful video. I have my tractor insured, but I'm not entirely sure the extent of the coverage. I have "Full coverage" but I think that only is applicable to damage or loss of the tractor itself, and I'm not sure if it includes when it leaves my property, or not. I'll definitely be calling my insurance company to see to what extent it is covered.

Loved this episode, I use Texas Farm Bureau, and know that they cover my house, land, mower and outbuildings as well as my auto policy, but don't know about hauling and such even though I have too many trailers to not have been more in depth in asking. We feel like we have the RIGHT coverage now. We are paying about the same money, but the coverage is much more 'tailored' to our business. I had country. Had to switch because the agent wasn't good. So we went back to are old agent that switched company's. But country did take care of us when we had clams. Had house fire and they covered everything in house and rental house. Its definitely worth paying the extra for the extra coverage. But well worth it when your insurance dont give you bull over and clams was the best. 4 different clams over 8yrs ( cars/house ) and no bull over any of them.

cool beans you got the easy reach mower again i would love to get with someone that is good with building stuff and build something like that mower for tractors like the 1025 using a power unit ran off the pto on the back mounting on the 3 point hitch . that way you would have baldest for said mower out front even tho it had helper wheels like the ventrac unit. the 3 pt power unit would also run all the functions of moving the sickle bar also . this may be something that would never work do to parts just being to big for the size of tractors i want this to work on

TTWT. Tractor videos or Cat videos? A little of both. (You need to get a Caterpillar Tractor and put Mary on it. Then you would have a cat on a Cat.) Also if you were working on a building with a tin roof in the summer time, and Mary got on the roof, you would have "A cat on a hot tin roof". :-)

Sorry you feel that way Keith. We get MANY questions about what insurance we have. Hundreds of questions in fact. Do you have insurance on your tractor? Are you covered in every situation you use it? Liability? How about transport? These are the types of questions we had, and we receive from viewers all the time. We simply don't have the time nor understanding to respond to every one of these questions. Not sure how we would tackle the issue short of an episode like this.
