A wonderful narration of how the area around Madras Central developed. Hope the government scuttles it's plan to develop this monster of a building there. When you explained about Moore market, I could not but wonder about the famous Burma Bazaar. Do you know what was the origin of the Bumra Bazaar and any other interesting historical snippets about this?

If they can spend the same money on the Government Hospital which is opposite to Central Railway Station it would help us alot.

I'm not opposed to the development but the lack of any architectural value and aesthetic presence to the locality and land is completely disappointing.

I expected this from you, rather watching when you are going to switch tracks. Now it has happened. People like you who start with History opening up unknown facts, gradually (after gaining sufficient listeners)gravitate towards talking against Development. When the Historical Structures which you praise were constructed, there may be chances that then existing historic structures would have been razed to accommodate the ones which have become historical now. Old giving Way to the New is the Essence of Life.
