Do We Need Remakes?

With the upcoming release of The last of Us Part I, I wanted to delve a little deeper into the nature of remakes and remasters in the gaming industry. Do we need them? And when is it appropriate to consider making one?

i feel like enhanced ports and remasters more often than not work better in presevrin and allowing accessible play in new systems, while i fell like full remakes are best used as more of a novelty, once the original has been around long enough to be considered retro.

i feel like it's no nessisary to remake the last of us cuz the graphics are not so bad till this day, however, mafia 1 remake was a good idea!

I'm all for playing the best versions of a game but with games and consoles getting more and more expensive re-buying a game I already played and can still play is just a no go for me
