You guys hitting hard with the nostalgia bombs this morning, especially with the staying home sick to watch price is right. That came on, and then it was take some cough medicine and take a nap till the afternoon cartoons came on, GI Joe, Transformers, He-Man, MASK, then if there wasn't a baseball game on, you swap the regular channel the cartoons were on over to WGN and watch all the cartoons over again.

Transformers G1 Optimus was always my fave, I was big into LEGO too. Living in Australia around '85 we got bombarded with the tail end of Star Wars too so I have Yakface and Barada from that.

Ninja Turtles was at a fever pitch when i was a kid. Born in ‘83. Real Ghostbusters was always a big favorite for me as well… then a little later i got caught up by the Disney afternoon block of shows everyday after school.

I remember the back of the Mad Mag cover had a pic that folded to make another pic. I also liked the Spy vs Spy. There was a longs drugs store I would always save my lil allowance money to get my monthly Amazing, Spectacular , Web and regular Spiderman comics. The regular Spiderman was the McFarlane series. Every year my home town had a frea market with random booths. I would always go to this guy that had silver age Amazing Spiderman comics for $1. I went back year after year until I bought them all lol. He also had some silver Spectacular Spiderman that i also cleaned him out over time lol

Mike Zeck is awesome! I had three posters on my wall when I was a kid in the eighties: The John Romita Spider-Man poster everyone had. The Frank Miller DareDevil poster everyone had. And a bad@$$ poster of Captain America fighting gangsters by Mike Zeck! I have a signed framed print of it now but between Zeck's Joe covers and Punisher mini series, I quickly became a fan.

The guy that destroyed Press You Luck was an unemployed ice cream truck driver who simply used the tracking option on the old VCRs to slow down taped episodes so he could learn the patterns. The patterns weren't really that complicated, because they were fast, and the producers never imagined the possibility. What followed was a battle with the tv show where he eventually did get the money, since he technically didn't cheat.

I've loved every episode of this but this one took me back to when I was a kid. We're all about the same age and I used to get My Savage sword of Conan at the local drugstore when I spend time at my grandma's in the summer. I never did meet Stan Lee, but I'm at Bernie wrightson at fan expo in Canada and I walked past him several times until I found where his Booth was. He was so humble. I told him he was the best artist in the building and there were some really heavy hitters there (Frank Miller was one of them) he had signed my cycle of the werewolf novella and a swamp thing versus Batman print. Several years later he had passed away. He is a legend for sure.

Great stories! I got hungry just listening to your story about your grandmother’s cooking! I agree Cracked magazine was good especially when they did the monster stuff! But I was interested in all the spoof humor type books. Mad, cracked, Crazy, etc we’re funny! John and Marie Severin were talented. I preferred his sister Marie though! She had the humor drawings well with Crazy!

Definitely remember my childhood toys. "My childhood toys" is my collection focus today. Chutes Away is one childhood toy I have vivid memories of. Someone nearby was selling it dirt cheap recently. Was so tempted. But then I was like, where the hell am I gonna put it? It's a pretty big piece. Monster box. So yeah, I reluctantly passed. Batman, The Goodies, Monkey, Doctor Who, Roger Ramjet and Batfink was must see after-school TV when I was a kid...

I have similar memories too: coming home from school, heating up some Chef Boyardee ravioli and watching tv shows like Gilligan's Island, Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, The Munsters, The Addams Family, etc. great times.

Man, you guys really rehash some awesome childhood memories! From Thundercats, slime, tops Star Wars cards, all of which are the same strong memories I also have. But my best memories, that still stick with me almost daily, is when Kenner released their Super Powers line. The commercials were the best!

In my early years (2nd grade era) I used to stick my forehead in front of the heater vent in the bathroom to convince my mother that I was running a fever or at least a higher temperature so that I could secure a day off of school. I didn't do it so often that she caught on, but around 4 times per school year. 8 hours of TV>8 Hours of school.
