Not everyone is called to go out and evangelize. Sometimes, the best "sermon" one will hear is observing the lives of others. I do not like being "gangstered" on a street corner and have a tract shoved in my face, or try to think of a semi-unhorrible way to tell the people annoying my doorbell (again) to "Get The ~~~"

Pit bulls are actually really good dogs. If you'd like a dog that doesn't shed much I wouldn't recommend short hair because some short hair breeds shed just as much if not more than long hair. Research low she'd breeds and you'll find some great options. I learned this after getting a 25lb short hair dog and she sheds soooooo much it's INSANE ..I don't understand how she sheds so much without being bald lol

Laura, you are a lovely example of a Christian who embodies the Fruits of the Spirit. You are also a great ambassador for the Bruderhof community and for Christ. Your videos are so interesting and informative for Christians and non-Christians alike and your evangelism will show people what the Holy Spirit can do if we believe and listen. I can say that being a Christian in the secular world is challenging and, of course, I fail but your videos are a good reminder of how to be humble and live by the Fruits of the Spirit. ❤️🇨🇦

I understand the desire to separate from carnal society, have everything in common, reject worldliness and live a simple life. To be free of financial pressure would be bliss. However, I couldn’t live in a community like this. I like nice things. I like treats. I like being generous. I like financial security. Bruderhof will last as long as it’s income stream is viable. One day the market will tire of wooden toys and kid’s furniture and the community’s income will dry up and will no longer support the whole community.

As a conservative anabaptist Christian how we dress is a reflection of biblical teachings and we believe our body is holy as it was created by God to give glory to God and to serve God. We try to follow the Bible literally, not a loose interpretation to fit today's societal standards. Society will progress towards a more sinful nature and lawlessness as mentioned in Revelation, and as in the days of Noah. So society may change but God's word, commandments, instruction and the teachings of Christ are Ageless and eternal. The world may change but the Bible will not. Therefore we are in the world but not of it. A people set apart. Deuteronomy 22:5 “A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God. 1 Timothy 2:9-10 Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness-with good works. Matthew 5:27-28 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart Wearing tight or revealing clothing promotes immortality and sinful thoughts in others and if we truly love and care for our Brethren and their souls we would not want to harm them by causing them to have sinful thoughts. Whether male or female. You might say that's their problem because they cant handle my outward display of sexuality, but what are you trying to gain by dressing that way.... pride of your physique and image which can also lead to self idolatry, lust and desire.. How you dress can affect yours and others sinful temptations. Which is also why we dont show the curves of the body and dress modestly. We also dress similar to promote uniformity, and so that others within our community dont feel less if they don't have what you have or you don't feel like more because you wear fancy brands which could also lead to sinful pride and greed. The 7 deadly sins are pride, greed, lust, envy(do you dress to make people envious of what you have or your body?) gluttony, wrath and sloth. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the heathen who do not know God." 1 John 2: 15-17 Do not love the world or anything in the world, If anyone loves the world(worldliness) the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. The world and its desires pass away but the man who does the will of God lives forever. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing. We are directed to pray continuously and without ceasing. Many disciples/prophets receive prophesy while sleeping or in trance. God is always speaking to us. To honor and give glory to God as described in the above passage a womans head should be covered, it is also a sign of authority of who she serves and honors. 1 Corinthians 11:1-16 Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. Now I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I delivered them to you. But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head, but every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, since it is the same as if her head were shaven. If a woman does not cover her head she should have her hair cut off, and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head. A man ought not to cover his head since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man. For man did not come from woman, but woman from man. (Genesis 2:23); neither was man created for woman but woman for man. For this reason and because of the angels a woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head. In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. For as woman came from man so also man is born of a woman. But everything comes from God. Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair it is a disgrace to him, but that if a woman has long hair it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering. If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice nor do the churches of God. 1 Peter 3:3-5 Do not let your adorning be external-the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear- but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands. Do all to the Glory of God.

If it is not too personal why did your grandfather leave the Hutterite community? I have been watching videos by Giselle waldner she is living On a Hutterite community in Canada, I see lots of similarities but the Bruderhofs seem a slightly bit less conservative and less restrictive. For instance it seems as if the Bruderhof members are encouraged to interact with people outside the community more, it also appears that Bruderhof members are allowed more free time to spend time with their families although I do have to say that my experiences with both communities is limited to the videos that you and she provide. It seems like the Bruderhof is more balanced in terms of community, family and devotion, whereas the Hutterites place less value on family time.

I figured that you guys getting more into social media was part of trying to reach out more. I am totally with you that living out Christ's teachings really is, or can be, a powerful witness; and it is that love in action which first made an impact in the world through the primitive church and not all their evangelistic efforts as such (even though obviously the word would not have spread without those efforts too!).

While the Hof encourages parents to see (many) children as a blessing, it is possible for parents to ask for birth control. Parents need to counsel with one of the ministers. From what I know, the minister will ask them if they both can stand before God with a clear conscience on judgment day. If they can, they may use b-c. Hutterites clearly are also using various means of b-c. Whereas families with 10 or more children were common decades ago, they are much smaller nowadays.

It appears that religious beliefs of Amish vastly differ from Bruderhof. Amish do not allow the people to have a bible in English, or sing English language songs just to name a few differences. Plus, if you leave the Amish, you are excommunicated. Bruderhof seem to bless people on their journey from the group. Correct me if i'm wrong.
@capyboppy4 жыл бұрын
R Johnson unfortunately in the past there have been claims of abuse and excommunication. Not one offs either. It could be that in present times the Bruderhof have acknowledged this and have taken measures to stop it ever happening again. I would like to think so. The weekend myself and my family spent with them although very tiring was also pleasant and enlightening. It did go through my head it would be a wonderful way of life to consider joining. There were some issues though that made us hesitate. One was that my daughter had the chance of a scholarship to a private boarding school; when I mentioned this it was made clear if a family made a commitment to join the community that this wouldn’t be an option for our daughter to accept.

Sue Billingham I’ve made a comment on Laura’s post about the gospel and would be interested to know your thoughts on the gospel and how you would explain it to someone who doesn’t know it. Jesus told His disciples to go out into all the world and preach the gospel. The bible says how can they hear if no one tells them. I agree as Christians we need to live a life that brings glory to God, but how does someone who does not know Jesus know how to avoid going to hell if no one tells them? How can they know there is a heaven and hell if they don’t currently believe that? How do people know the way to heaven by looking at your life? How long does it take? Are we just to impact the people who know us? Christ calls us to tell people the good news. I do this and it isn’t about doing it in an aggressive way but having a conversation with people, and not just people I know but strangers as well (which is sometimes easier). God bless ✝️

regarding the pants question, those women who dont want to wear them (skirts) can just wear pants? or are they pressured by the community to wear skirts? it seems like such an odd thing to focus on - insisting women wear skirts and not whatever they like.
@LaurafromtheBruderhof4 жыл бұрын
I think simplicity and modesty are really important. If wearing pants or clothes other than skirts was that big a deal to me I wouldn't have joined the Bruderhof. I don't think what you wear is important but I think it is important to be simple and modest. At this point Bruderhof women wear skirts so it is what it is.

@@LaurafromtheBruderhof is there something not modest about pants? and if so, why are men wearing them? I would like to understand, if a woman would like to join and wears only pants will she be turned away? I just dont get how pants are any less modest on a woman than on a man. and in that case, should not men wear skirts as well?
@stephaniehenderson66314 жыл бұрын
@@AlmaMariaRinasz I am not in the community, but one thing I have noticed is that young men in the regular society have started wearing more clingy sports style tops or taking selfies with their tops off, showing their muscular form and six pack torso. You never used to see the likes of John Wayne, Clint Eastwood or Paul Newman doing that all the time. I think that is the male version of immodesty today i.e. emphasising the curves of the body to make yourself sexually appealing. I don't see the Bruderhof men doing this.
@LaurafromtheBruderhof4 жыл бұрын
No I think pants can be perfectly modest. People get upset about the apparent disparity between what the men and the women wear but honestly what the men wear is really simple and like Chris will wear the same jeans and t-shirts year after year. What he wears probably ends up costing less than what I wear.

Do you all believe Christ is still to return or has already returned in AD70? Another question I have is, does the bruderhof believe in God’s sovereignty and that God chooses who he will save (Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. Ephesians 1:3-6 KJV) or do you all believe we choose to be saved? Or Maybe these are things that are believed differently by each family. Thanks for your answers.

How does a person pursue individual hobbies when there is no personal property? For instance what if someone wanted to invest a couple of thousand dollars in being a photographer?
@capyboppy4 жыл бұрын
Steve Griffin from what I recall when visiting and staying; if there is a good enough reason for you to have equipment you can, but you are also expected to share. So if you joined with a load of photography equipment, and there were other interested keen photographers, you would have to allow them to use your equipment.
@opie329584 жыл бұрын
@@capyboppy And if you embrace a new avocation after joining how would you go about purchasing tools/materials for that avocation if private property is not allowed?
@capyboppy4 жыл бұрын
Steve Griffin you have to ‘apply’ for any tools/equipment that may be needed and they would be given if is is seen as fit for the purpose. When we spent the weekend there, the hosts had a portable radio cassette player. They explained they would use it for around 3 weeks I think it was, then another member or family would have use of it and so on. I should imagine though if more than one person needed tools/equipment they would be provided and allowed their own as it would be for the benefit of the community. It would not make sense say for example to have to keep going and asking to borrow tools if you were say a plumber.

Seems that she is saying "no." If skirts are "simple and modest," then the boys should also wear them. And "just because it's how we've always done things" is not sound reasoning.
