I feel like people always think because I'm a sewist and a quilter I wouldn't want projects other people make. I certainly DO appreciate the rare occasion when another sewist makes something for me. I bet you appreciate the Pat Sloan wall hanging that was made for you, too!

I used to quilt 25+ years ago and gave it up when kids came along (one is special needs). When I was forced to slow down during Covid and an achilles tendon injury and couldn’t walk during Covid I turned to KZbin tv and discovered a whole new would of quilting with precuts that didn’t exist before. I dug out the sewing machine and started up again. When I finally was able to clean out my sewing closet I have been slowly finishing UFO’s. This spring a king I had planned 25 years ago for my bed. Just finished piecing the top and getting it ready to send off to be quilted.

I am getting a headache! Whoa! Too much overload! Ha ha ha! Getting older and don't want a lot of UFO's hanging around. So have finished two scrap quilts this year and done some hot pads and little projects. Just ONE main project of 30's 9 inch finished blocks. I have collected free patterns with that size. So am having fun doing them, little by little. I have 3 young granddaughters that might enjoy another quilt from grandma (before they graduate high school 😂). No pressure. One step at a time. Can't afford buying lots of fabric and patterns ... ENJOY LIFE! DEEP BREATH! Carry on. ❤

I love having a multitude of quilts in progress. When I walk into my craft room I think to myself do I want to cut, iron, piece, appliqué, sash, border, or bind? Then I pick the project that is in that stage that I put in baskets in my IKEA 8 cubby shelf that’s turned on it’s side with a table with two arms that extend that makes my cutting table hight high enough that I do not need to bend to cut. Each cubby holds one of the 8 projects I am working on. There are so many more kits and panels that I want to make so every time I finish a quilt another project goes in.

I committed this year to stop myself from starting new projects & focus on completing my UFO's, most of which were from BOM quilts from the previous 2 years. Although I snuck in a few smaller projects in between, I have made good progress. Currently I am quilting a king size on my DSM that is almost finished. After that there are 2 quilts to add on borders, to sandwich, then quilt. Finally I have two sets of blocks from different BOMs to set together, add borders and quilt. Not too bad! Proud of myself! I am doing to start new things. As always, thanks for your inspiration💫

I don't have a lot of UFO's in quilting (cross stitch is another matter) - I like to work on 2 or 3 quilts at the same time, but what makes me overwhelmed is I kit projects up into bins (like your project bins) and stack them up. This year I have stopped myself from kitting projects, and started working on these boxes to get the projects done. I have now cleared 2 boxes. Now my scrap bins are a nightmare. I really like the colours of the French General fabric in your Splendid Samper 2 quilt.

I have 3 older quilting UFO's, 2 wall hanging UFO's, and 6 tops ready to put on the longarm UFO's...but then I've only been quilting about 5 years. I have 6 quilt projects that I'm currently working on, and about 10 that I have kitted up with fabric and pattern that I dare not get started or else I'll have more UFO's! 🤣 I'm retired and I still don't have enough time to sew. I have your and Jane's Splendid Sampler 2 book. I had Staples put a spiral binding on it. I haven't made any blocks but I've looked through it a few times. I like how the directions are short and easy to follow, and I've really enjoyed reading the designers comments. One of these days I'll dig in! I love how both of your Splendid Sampler quilts look and one can be finished with just a border--woohoo! Your Shoefly Christmas UFO made me smack myself in the head! I either save the triangle cut-offs or sew them into HST's before I cut them off. I've saved them in a box, just can't toss them! I'm thinking I need to organize them and use them as leaders/enders to make a super cute quilt. Thanks for the idea! Love love love Aunt Pat Gnome! What a special gift! 🥰

Recently I splurged on Artbin project boxes and it helped me psychologically as well as physically. There was something so calming about that sense of organization! So I now know what I have and what needs to be tackled. My stuff generally are WIP’s rather than UFO’s. So I feel more relaxed and less guilty about what isn’t finished. I also write a monthly list that I would like to bring to fruition. Helps with the squirrels!!! 😀

Your fabric line history!! So imagine yourself sitting with Gregg in rocking chairs on your porch, age 75, sharing lifetime of memories...."...honey, remember all the fabrics you designed? How many lines did you design? What was your first line called?" "Oh Gregg, too many to count!" Gregg gets up and goes in the house and returns with a scrappy quilt of 5" squares...."Look dear what I found in the hall closet; remember when you finished this quilt from your UFO list?" Pat unfolds the precious quilt and the memories of each and every fabric she designed come flooding back. "Gregg, I am so happy I saved a square from every fabric line and made this special memory quilt....look here's fabric number one....let's play eye spy and see how many we can name!! Pat, cut those patches now and enjoy for a lifetime!!🥰. Blessings, Dawn

It is nice to know that I am not the only one who has ufo’s that have been with me for a long time and that are nearly finished

Oh my, I have way too many U F O's, and I found more while clearing out my studio that I am moving to my house!! It's hard to decide which ones to keep, with the purpose of finishing, and which ones to not keep.

This was very interesting, and I'm sure we all can relate to having UFO's. A suggestion, maybe there is a school you might contact to see if there is a sewing class and they could cut your fabric for you into either 5" or 10" squares for you and donate all the remainder left overs. It would be good practice for beginners. I sure appreciate your videos.
