I think I disagree with her comment "Desire plus ability, we need both". The last stats I heard were that a large portion of students on scholarships, who were enrolled in colleges above their SAT scores, (ability) dropped out. Therefore, I question if the outcome of D.I.E with respect to college enrollment (desire) is true.

What the Hell is an equal playing field, if you limit the amount of anyone that can be on the field based on skin color?? Choose the most qualified individual based on merit and knowledge. Did it work with ERA and giving scholarships to people who were not ready, nor able to handle going into Universities to study, who did not understand what was going on and then dropped out, while the qualified person was denied access to fill a quota?? "We want to make sure the playing field is fair", Yeah that is a great statement but never used properly. If I am an employer I want the best person qualified for the job position. I don't care about anything concerning race, religion, etc. I want the best-qualified person for the job...period! But life does not work that way. You can have a person that is 100% qualified but I have to choose the person 93% qualified because I need to keep my percentages of how many white people I employ, how many black people I employ, how many males I employ, and how many females I employ. Based on this I cannot get the best person for the position. So I bypass a college grad with a 4.00 GPA and hire a college grad with a 3.45 gpa...stupid!

To let you know, I am a Veteran and was very glad that we had people with different backgrounds and experiences in my unit when it came to solving problems. That is something I've continued to see as an advantage outside of the military, too. It's just about building stronger teams, not compromising them - that's what diversity is about. There are also measurable results in higher performance for more diverse groups. In professional situations, it is definitely not "stupid".

Democrats way is to make everyone equal as is the intention of ACA. I think a lot of people don’t know that the price you pay when purchasing marketplace insurance is based on your income. My husband and I paid over $2,000 a month. So then subtract $24,000 a yr from our income that makes us equal with a whole other income group who only pay a few hundred dollars a month. But we get the exact same insurance. My husband ended up quitting his job and working under the table instead of us paying that much for insurance. With just my income we paid $83 a month. How is that fair that that I have worked hard for 40 yrs to make the money but I have to pay a higher price for insurance to cover the cost of premiums for people who don’t make as much as me. Money that I earned. Thus essentially punishing the higher income people.
