I bought the exact same lift about a year ago from CAEL in Hamilton Ontario Canada. It's fantastic lift for the price. I recently converted my '71 Challenger from auto to manual trans using this lift - it was perfect for the job because of the open center design. I wish I'd bought one years ago.

I'm glad I ran into this video cause I was about to order the quick jack lift jack. Also it's good to see good reviews. I'm still browsing for other jacks cause I have a C7 ZR1 vette. Thanks for the video! By the way, I just went to the website to check out the jack and price went up to $2,700...I was hoping to buy it under $2k

Thanks for your video. I gave it a like but I gotta say that your electrical work is a concern. If you don’t want to run conduit to contain the yellow Romex, then at least use metal clad wiring so the insulation has some protection on that open wall. Secondly, your plug wiring doesn’t have any strain relief. This means the cord weight is pulling on those individual insulators all the time (gravity never sleeps), so eventually you could have an internal connection failure. Thanks again for sharing this.

I have a basically identical unit here in the UK and have to use assistance ramps like yours for every car I own - if I don't, the cars that can get on the ramp without grounding tend to shove the whole lift forward in the garage rather than climb the ramps.. also don't forget that to come down it has to go up slightly to disengage the locking pawl, so don't stop too close to the garage door opener! (I only narrowly avoided that mistake once 🤣) It is a great piece of kit .. I'd still love to be able to have a 2-post lift, though!

I looked at these but they get in the way of everything under the car. The advantage of a side post is it's all open under the car. Ya it'll lift too high for low ceilings but you just need to be aware of the or install a limiter switch.

Chamberlain makes garage door openers that work off the shaft (jackshaft) the garage doors main coil spring is attached to. Getting rid of that track type door opener will gain you some clearance between the roof of the car and ceiling.

Hey buddy. Loved the video. Very clear and concise. I am sold and hope to get this same product in the future. My current barriers are, I don’t have a garage 😂 and two, I don’t have a 220 outlet. So the plan is to get those two things first and then I will pick up one of these lifts. I also mainly work on aircooled VWs that don’t have frames and use a floor pan design, but this should still work fine. I’m excited about getting one and it would take my hobby to a whole nother level😆 pun intended.

There's me getting annoyed when I got the measuring tape and fixing 11' .. 9' would bring tears. But yes.. we must make do. I'm currently slowly modifying my garage into my own set up. I have experience with these lifts. I really really want a 2 post. But with full height. My walls are 8' but most of all 2 post are 9' 4" .. so without mods I'd only get in a scissor lift. My intention is to install and with them being 50+ cm flat height.. I'm going to run concrete runs in line with the ramp. Then bolt down studs, lay insulation and ply/flooring on top. Then if planned correctly no cold feet etc, the ramp comes up out of the smooth floor. Less trip hazards etc. but yes, these things are game changers. The main reason I don't want a scissor is the likes of rear axle work. Lack of access for removal etc. but front end is fine. 2 post just means nothing is impossible.

great video! curious, when the freight truck came to your home to delivery the heavy items, did you have to pay for liftgate service, and did they drop it off on the curbside or on your driveway? Hi friend, question for you. Have you found any vehicles that were not able to work due to the drive over platforms being the jack points? Reason I ask is because I have a big range of vehicles by size (tiny bmw z4, c6 corvette, several hummers, and a humvee). My concern is that I will find a limitation with where the platforms don't reach the jacking points on the vehicles. I am debating between this lift and a similar midrise that uses adjustable arms to pivot around to the lift points of the vehicles but Ive love to hear if you came across any vehicles personally that didn't work. My widest vehicle (humvee) is 84" wide. From what I see online, these tracks around about 75" wide so driving over them with the humvee may be difficult. Cheers!
@DeadEndRestorations
@DeadEndRestorations 10 ай бұрын
I haven't had this issue, but a Humvee is massively wide and this lift will be too small for it to reach the jacking points. The midrise that uses the arms to reach the jack points is limited because the entire middle underside of the vehicle cannot be reached whereas this leaves a big wide hole in the middle for doing exhaust, transmission, driveshaft work etc. Cheers!

Hi, two questions! First, thanks for posting the video. First question - do you feel secure under the lift without the addition of a low height screw jack? I would hate to be crushed by my own car. Yes, I know that all these lock in place - but I would feel more secure if I had additional braces to support the main weight of the vehicle - for most cars - the front end of the car. How do you know where the center of gravity or balance is; apart from just using the factory pinch welds? We can assume lifting by the manufacturer specified lift locations is the correct approach? My second question is about the logistics of the lift, and how to maneuver it onto the garage. I understand this is not a portable solution. Most of these have a pivot point at the far end and a bar with wheels to drag it along. I've also read that they weigh about 1500-2000 pounds. Lets say you move, and would like to transport the lift onto a trailer and take it to your new home. How would you begin to do that? Thanks!
@DeadEndRestorations
@DeadEndRestorations Жыл бұрын
great questions! to be honest i do very feel safe, I have since bolted the base into the concrete garage floor with heavy duty anchors and its rock solid. I have thought about sticking a pair of jack stands in between the arms that go up/down and you can/could as an added safety measure. I decided against it because knowing myself, I would forget they were there and lower the lift and possibly cause more damage/injury in the process! As far as moving it around, it weighs around 500-600 pounds and with the wheels its easily moved on a relatively flat surface. I used a combination of dollies/floor jack to maneuver the box into my garage and unbox it. It was definitely a bit tricky without any sort of crane but doable even on my own without any help (from adults at least). Hope that helps, thanks for watching!

That is a nice lft. Wonder if the company will offer other ramps to address what was for me the biggest (yet still not a deal breaker) con. Maybe you have a metal worker buddy that could fab you either a replacement set or a type of cover/sleeve that'll lay on top to cut down on the approach. Just found your channel today and thoroughly enjoyed your e34 journey. Best of luck with the e90 and future projects; I'll be watching. //Subscribed//.

Awesome thanks! The other option is cut the concrete and set it below ground to sit flush with the garage floor - that might be my longer term solution 👌

this is so cool. Have you come across any lifts that can be plugged in into a regular outlet (not 20 amps)?
@DeadEndRestorations
@DeadEndRestorations 9 ай бұрын
thanks! No they all need more than usual 12amps unfortunately
@nickreid5297
@nickreid5297 9 ай бұрын
Is that 20amps at 120 volts? I Australia we run 10 amps on a 240 volt circuit, so we might be OK.
@nickreid5297

And the answer to my question is further down. This is 20 amps at 110 volts. An Australian power plug should handle it OK.

I have a mr8 lift can’t figure out we’re to put the 2 wheels
@DeadEndRestorations
@DeadEndRestorations 7 ай бұрын
With mine I have to raise the lift and there's two flat points on the rear bar that are raised enough to slide the wheels onto. When you lower the lift it will rest of the wheels for easy movement. Cheers
