@@fieldy409 Well yeah, that's what makes them powerful. People do what they say, meaning they have the power of a ton of people at their command. It's not like they just love being ordered around, there is a reason why these folk are considered powerful. You say "actually" strong people give them power. But that'd be saying that people like Putin, Trump, or Jeff Bezos don't have any power, which is just false. That's it - that's what I love about films, about actresses and actors that excel at their craft. Hardy fully embraced the character. When I see him in his scenes, I see Bane, not Hardy. Same with Ledger, I only saw The Joker, not the actor that portrayed him. When actresses and actors transform into their characters and the audience is absolutely captured within the immersion, that's what I call acting.

Nolan specifically picked Tom Hardy because of his ability to research real life characters and place them into the story, also for his ability to act using just his eyes. Hardy took Bane from a fictional Mexican wrestler on roids and flipped him into a real World bare knuckle Gypsie boxer from London who was known for his odd speech cadence which Hardy replicated and adapted. Another one of his famous characters is Alfie Solomons in Peaky Blinders which was based on the real life Jewish gangster from North London called Alfie Solomon. So when you watch Hardy bare in mind he is always portraying someone real placed into a fictional World.

@Captain Brandon Cinema Lover His death was sudden not goofy. This reflects what he said earlier in the film "It doesn't matter who we are. What matters is our plan." Him dying rather anticlimacticly refers to how even he himself was disposable in this plan. He was going to stay in Gotham when the nuke went off. Also the nuke was close to detonating, it wouldn't make sense to have a long drawn out death scene for him.
@DaVideoGameBeastr4 жыл бұрын
@Captain Brandon Cinema Lover I'd say Catwoman was one of the main characters. The reason it wasn't Batman to finish him off was to prove the point that Batman is more than a man, he is a symbol. To inspire people to do good, which is what happened with Selina. She wanted to just leave the city but she chose to come back because she was inspired by Bruce's selflessness. Alfred said himself, this city doesn't need your body master Wayne. And by the end of the movie he's done being Batman, and someone else (Robin) takes up the mantle. At the end of the movie the whole city honours Batman and will remember him for generations to come. It all goes back to what Bruce said in Batman Begins "As a man...I'm flesh and blood, I can be ignored, destroyed. But as a symbol...as a symbol I can be incorruptible. I can be everlasting."

Whilst the B&R Bane looked like the comic book Bane all they kept was the look and strength (and venom). He wasn't the intelligent, cunning strategist who could match Batman both physically and mentally, which is what made him one of the Bats most dangerous enemies. Whilst this Bane may not look like his comic counterpart and doesn't use venom he at least is very intelligent, a keen strategist, intimidating and is both physically and mentally able to match Batman. So while he doesn't have enough of the surface characteristics of comic Bane he has enough of the core elements of his character to be, at least for me, a far better representation that the previous one which was just a superficial copy.

@@EduFabolous I repeat, that is only perhaps true of Dark Knight. The other two movies were simply ok. The Dark Knight was simply so good that it elevated the other two movies through association. Also, you are wrong. The best of Marvel rivals the Dark Knight. I mean, it's only true of a few of them but it is true. Winter Soldier, Infinity War at the top of that list. Infinity War is the closest in feel to Dark Knight. One of the things that made Dark Knight great is the the Joker was so good that it made every scene carry a palpable tension. Infinity War was one of the few movies to do the same. Plus, Infinity War had the unreal twist of the Villain actually winning in the end.
@EduFabolous4 жыл бұрын
@@Elthenar You could not be more wrong, the Trilogy is what makes it all excellent Cinema, how Christopher Nolan set the emotions and tune for each film, exploring Fear (Batman Begins), Chaos (The Dark Knight) and Pain (The Dark Knight Rises). If you analyze TDK in terms of dialogue and story telling it holds more value than any MCU film ever, just the scene where Joker throws Rachel out the window during the fundraiser is a masterpiece, as Joker later in the interrogation scene says that by the way the Batman lunged to save her he would of thought the Batman was Dent, stating exactly why he chose to have Rachel as the other choice when he tied her up with explosives. Also hinting that it was at that moment that Joker realized who the Batman was. The Dark Knight is not that much about Joker as you leave the film not knowing who he was and the Joker learns nothing by the end of it. It was all about Control during Chaos. Then The Dark Knight Rises is about Batman's journey to regaining Control through Pain caused by the aftermath of TDK's ending. All movies tie up beautifully and not in a cosmetic way, where in every MCU movie there is never a sense of our heroes ever being in a position where they would really lose. Even when you say they lost in Infinity war, everyone knew they didn't, and the directors even had to write in the screen that the Avengers would return. There were no sense of risk and there were always the possibility of it all being rewinded back since they introduced the notion of time manipulation (used poorly at times).

Selena Kyle was wasted and pointless, she could have been absent from the whole film and it wouldn't really have lost anything. It's not a bad film overall. But it is a bad Batman film IMO.

@@SelfProclaimedEmperor Speaking honestly here as both a gamer and a Designer: part of what a makes a good Designer is understanding what people are saying, which is sometimes *not* what they are saying. Gamers are usually pretty good at expressing whether or not they're having fun and that should be trusted, but their diagnosis of why they're having fun can't. It's like going into a doctor's office and saying "My side hurts, Doc." And then the Doctor saying "Well, tell me what's wrong with it." You go to the doctor to *find out* what's wrong with it. Game Designers need to respect when a player says they're not having a good time and then diagnose. Certainly, gamers are sometimes correct and should always be taken seriously when they propose changes. Lots of good ideas come from gamers, but they're also not universally right and it's extremely rare that all gamers agree on what they want, making it nearly impossible for Designer to listen to the "will of the people" when the people don't agree. Most of the worst decisions that happen in games happen because publishers or non-Designer executives make a bunch of decisions that are out of designer (or even developer control). Microtransactions are a great example of this, where publishers or executives want the paycheck and designers would just rather make a great game... but can't because they're not the boss. TL;DR Designers are the doctors of games. Provide them information, but trust that they are more likely to drive to the correct conclusion than the masses. They're in it to make the most fun thing they can and they're experts in it. Publishers want the buck. I don't blame them for this, but they're the ones most likely to exert power over Designers and force them to make decisions you (the gamer) probably won't like.

@@Zikliv it's a mixed bag. I'm a fan of Hardy and listen only the top dogs exist in both DC AND MARVEL. The voiceover is great and a huge part, but Tom brings it all together. Bane's physicality is a huge part too. Imagine having to time things just right to even give space for the voiceover artist performance AND have your face covered. And do it so well most people don't even know it was 2 people. It's equivalent to say Javier Botet being a guy playing a creature/woman in Mama. It's great acting when it's seamless.
