"Leto only had 10 minutes of screen time so we can't judge him" 4 minutes of Ledger is enough to see how brilliant his performance is, 1 hour of Leto wouldn't make a difference
@alextepishkin15168 жыл бұрын
Leto was amazing. The script and the director are shit. What would have happened if Ledger was playing in Suicide Squad with that pointless script, no lines and no screen time? And if dark night never came out. Would ledger still be that great? No. He only has cult status because of his death and his Joker is praised because the script was good and revolved around him. He was great but let's not deify him. Leto is a great actor with better and more interesting roles than Ledger ever had. But Warner Bros fucked him up and fucked us up for expecting the Suicide Squad to be R rated and with a lot of Joker. instead they gave us a children friendly movie and cut all the Joker parts most likely because they were too inappropriate for today's disabled generic audiences. Both actors are great. One wasn't

@elvampe138 жыл бұрын
if he didnt die, the "Dark Knight Rises" movie script would have been entirely different and MUCH better. I'd like to think that the 3rd movie would have been similar to the "Dark Knight Returns" comic book. except Bane replaces the Mutant gang leader and his chaos would have unintentionally released the Joker and, like in the comic book, the Batman and Joker would have 1 final confrontation with the latter dying.
@chrismhp8 жыл бұрын
The idea that people think Heath was amazing in TDK because he passed is such a cop out. Compare just this scene alone versus Leto's performance in SS. The caliber here is of another level; it's painfully clear. My opinion of Heath's Joker is unbiased from his death, because I was one of the few people living under a rock and wasn't even aware that Heath had died until some time after I'd watched the film; but I was captivated for every second of his screen time. No doubt it's coveted much more due to his passing (naturally), but the quality of the performance is unquestionable. What seems to get past people is how much Heath invested in creating what we saw on-screen. He kept a 'Joker diary' and had music to get him fully in the mind of portraying this character; there's an interview of Eckhart talking about his experience doing the hospital scene with Heath. They improvised the entire blocking of the scene without ever saying a word out of character - the way he talks about it is akin to working with a legend. Seriously, look it up; Aaron Eckhart on Heath Ledger with Larry King. He treated this role with the intensity as if it was actually the last performance of his life...and it shows. By god does it show.

I think that's because the way the Nolan brothers write and develop and create characters. Batman and Joker are yin and yang in this film. Both want to achieve the same things but both have two different approaches and philosophy and moral code. It’s almost analogous to Malcom X and Dr. King. Both wanted equal rights for the oppress blacks but both had differences. King was more about peace while X was ok with violence. (I am not saying X is Joker lol) Batman wanted to end corruption and crime in Gotham by being savior by catching the bad guys in the act but Joker wanted to achieve it through coercion. One wanted extreme liberty for the people through anarchism and the other wanted a fair corrupt-free democracy with rightful “law & order”. One was a realist the other was an idealist. That’s why Joker says “You complete me..” but that also shows how psychotic Joker was that even if wanted those ideals to be achieved he still wanted that conflict with Wayne because that’s what makes him tick. He always wanted to push his morality to prove a point, that morals will never solve problems completely, there's always a lesser of two evils in the eyes of this Joker, so why bother.
@abhishekkhandare80457 жыл бұрын
Alberto Rodriguez ,"honestly speaking no one wants to be bad its, all what we get and how we reacted to it".At the end of the day we humans talk about morals, ethics ,justice and u know what the funny thing we do it to justify ourself see how selfish,believe me or not each and every word told by joker reflects truth which doesn't required any proof because it is nature of our humans this man is really not a psyco

Nolan created a masterpiece in a lot of ways and Ledger did amazing as an actor in that role but it isn't because of how close to the source material or the actual characters personality is, you'd know that if you read the comics or watched the animated series or have any kind of experience with the characters. Nolan's work was amazing, but it did NOT capture the spirit of the joker as well as Nicholson did, if we're talking about being true to the comics and specifically the killing joke, to say so is to admit you don't really like batman you just like good movies, which the dark knight definitely qualifies as. Just read the killing joke then compare the two, nicholson did it more true to the source material.

Why Heath Ledger's Joker is so great? He talks about real world problems, and it is relevant no matter what time we live.
@MageMinionsOP2 жыл бұрын
This is why the character is easy to write. The problem is actually convincing people about reality. It's relevant no matter where we live because the jokers entire character is coming from a flawed background and understanding humanities greatest flaws. His additional mental health issues push him to knowing how to trigger these behaviours. Heath ledger's joker isn't groundbreaking in writing, it's the acting that convinces us that he's right even though we all know it's true. It's essentially the difference between telling and convincing. I can tell you about climate change, but it won't mean anything unless I can convince you.

"You see, their morals. Their "code." It's a bad joke, dropped at the first sign of trouble. They're only as good as the world allows them to be. I'll show you, when the chips are down, these uh, these "civilized" people, they'll eat each other." Probably my favorite quote from the whole trilogy. He was perfectly describing the people of Gotham in the Dark Knight Rises.

Helen Kom Skaikru I don't care which guy did which version. When someone mention the Joker, I think of Heath Ledger. Leto was OK, but nothing special in my opinion.
@Nadsow7 жыл бұрын
+Bill B. I get your point but they are two different versions. I think they both did a excellent job. I do prefer Heath though. BUT Jared did exceed my expectations.
@znzd7 жыл бұрын
Bill B. jared leto praised heath's performance and he said himself that he doesn't want to be as perfect as his joker.. if you're telling me jared's joker should be the same as heath's, then you're wrong. oh and yes it does matter what kind of joker jared leto's one is and tbh i have no fucking idea because i didn't know the joker wore tattoos and acted like a gangster thug.. thats not how i understood the joker reading the comics and watching the animated ones. plus his laugh sounds dead

even sometimes actors "miss" and actually hit the other ones. Its part of the job. Everyone knows its not "intenteded" but its cool to know it was an actual real punch haha

@yellowravenpro5 жыл бұрын
@@jevilz9858 I've been "there" its "funny" because of how proffesional actors are and just keep acting instead of "interrupting" the scene. I think its cool

@profileN79 жыл бұрын
this version of Joker is just SICK. I love how they turned him into this complete psycho. The fucked up make up also made him look even crazier; way better than the comic Joker where he fell in some sludge chemical that turned his skin into white.

+animeroxas man, too bad Heath had to die right away, I wanted to see more of this Joker.

More then psycho this version is saying that all of humanity are beasts and that he's the first to admitted.

+Allinmind If you seen the comics, Joker had moments where he was acting normal crazy and others where he goes full-on Cthulu-based insane. One comic, he allowed the Dollmaker to literally cut his own face off and wear it as a mask to show that he was the same underneath the skin
@avigutierrez89488 жыл бұрын
+alexiaNBC true that. Him being a leatherface type truly scary

+avi gutierrez And that's not even just one bad day. He also skinned someone alive named Monty and pushed him on stage at a strip club in Brian Azzarello's Joker, shot Jim Gordon's wife when he threw a baby at her in Detective Comics #741 and of course, Alan Moore's The Killing Joke when Joker shot Barbara Gordon in the spine then took pics of her nude and wounded body then showed them as a slideshow to her Father Jim Gordon, as he was put on a roller coaster naked, in order to break him mentally.
