Any questions? Feel free to contact me using the above link. I'm a real estate agent by day garage monkey by night. That's my contact form as I'm TERRIBLE about checking comments on these videos.
Cam surge is when you transition from a steady state idle to dynamic throttle. Your engine revs or the revs crash like it wants to stall. Especially when under load.
For instance my truck always surged terrible when I was backing up my steep driveway and into my garage. There can be several causes for this and we'll chat about what resolved my surge.
First we are assuming you have your base idle airflow, base RPM, and IAC / throttle body calibrated. Additionally, you've tuned your idle fuel MAP (speed density) and MAF. If you haven't contact me and I'll send you links for the videos:

This is very simple. If your revs are VERY slow to reach the desired idle RPM then you have too little idle spark control adjustment. If it over shoots the desired RPM (surges) then you have too much. It's under this menu in HP Tuners
VCM Editor
Engine-}Spark-}Advance-}Idle Adaptive Spark Control
Overspeed and underspeed tables
This video will show you how to adjust those in HP Tuners.
FYI ~ I have a bit of a wondering mind. I'd love your subscription but this channel here is like my catch all for fixing stuff, reviewing stuff, and just things that don't fit elsewhere on KZbin.
