I’m kinda confused as to when u shut off ur fuel line… 1. Remove excess gas from tank with siphon bulb 2. Run the machine until it dies on its own 3. Turn off fuel line?? 4. Put choke on and run machine again 5. Empty remaining gas from carburetor Also, I have an older Ariens 1128. My carburetor had one center bolt holding the carburetor in place. I don’t have a second bolt. I have something that looks like a screw with a spring. When I push my finger against it, fuel seems to leak out of it. I’m assuming this is how I remove the extra fuel? I’m just scared that I’m not suppose to push it with my finger and I may break it. Any ideas? Thanks soo much!!! :)

Hey Nan…2 part answer. I only shut the fuel off if I’m transporting the machine, such as on a trailer, and right before summer storage. I try to start the motor on full choke after shutting off the fuel to burn what I can of the small amount fuel left in the carb. Your carb has an older design. That small piece of metal with the spring on the bottom of you carb Is called a dump screw or dump plunger. Pushing it in and holding it until all the gas drips out drains the carb bowl is the same as taking out the screw on my carb. (U should catch the drained fuel in a container) Don’t worry about pushing it at the end of winter to drain the bowl, it’s meant for that. If your carb ever starts to drip fuel from the bottom of the bowl, it’s most likely the dump button. There’s a small gasket that the metal pushes against to seal. Over time they all start to leak, but every one I’ve ever had was fine for 20+ years. You need to close the fuel line before starting the machine to run the fuel out of the carb (?? Above) If you have any other questions, feel free to ask, I’m available to help.

where do you buy a replacement red washer on the drain plug?

Hi Fannel….. you can go to any Ariens dealer with your serial # ( found on sticker just my above belly pan by your feet at most machines) .you can also order it direct from Ariens at www.ariens.com/en-us/parts?gad=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw-pyqBhDmARIsAKd9XINH-tBsLOyX7P1Acw6YYrh21fgTW2jHD6t2Si8nyJRUiCIVHWubm_UaAhOTEALw_wcB Or ariens. Com They will ask for your serial #, (on sticker), and model #(found on owners manual. If I might make a recommendation, order 2 and keep one as a spare, that way you won’t have to pay for shipping next time you need one.

My neighbor and I joke that the first to put the snowblower away jinxes everything and a snowstorm is inevitable.

Hi FlyJarrett…That’s funny as I said the same thing to my wife. it’s always in the back of my mind. I have a shovel I keep outside the back door. I don’t put that thing away in the shed until it hits 70, as putting that thing away early is the late storm jinx for me! Thanks for the comment.

Your right! I put that shovel in the shed last week. I went up North last weekend, and I still had 12” of wet snow in the driveway. It was 82 out, so I drove through it to get in, & left it to melt. Saw where in the EauClare area they had 24” of wet stuff last night.
