I use caffeine very sparingly, rather than daily or weekly. For pain relief as an "analgesic stack" Caffeine (60mg - 120mg) synergizes with Acetaminophen (1000mg) and Ibuprofen (400mg - 1200mg) for AMAZING pain relief. For tests and exams, especially early morning, when I need a bit of an extra stimulant to focus and not go ADHD. For competitions or tests for certifications when I need a physical performance boost. Otherwise, I completely avoid the stuff as much as I can.

When I was 8 in 1976, my family doctor told my parents to give me coffee to counteract my hyperactivity. I used to drink six pots of coffee for years until about six years ago, when I slowly lowered my coffee intake to two or three cups a day now. Coffee never woke me up; it made me sleepy, and it still does. so is something wired differently in my brain? I always wondered why it had that effect on me.

My doctor joke that my bloodtype was 100% arabica. I should cut down since the nurces wanted to take a shot since my blood was stronger than the coffee at work. He joked yes, but it drove the point to it's mark. After a looooooong time of therapy, I drink a cup, perhaps 2 every day. No bad health effects either. My doctor ran a bunch of test on me to see but found nothing. Sadly, he retired after that. Dang it. Loved the guy. My new one is cool. Reminds me of you, but european

Shouldn't there be a constant build-up then? - how long does it take for an average person to downregulate the adenosine receptors after quitting caffeine? Do you have any idea? What I mean is sugar is way easier to over do and the detriment is evident in the chronic and metabolic disease epidemic and coffee on the other hand while still addictive it's way harder to over do and much less harmful than sugar if you do find yourself in the upper limit of what is ideal to use on the daily. For most people 1 or 3 cups of coffee is fine however as for sugar 20 to 40 teaspoon of sugar per day is probably not OK for most people and this is what the average american consumes on the daily of both of these.

Thank you for your video! I do consume coffee everyday after lunch, and this one elevates my focus in the afternoon. Any extra bit won’t do the trick, so 1 cup per day for me (and must be after lunch) is the optimal amount to me. At this amount I won’t feel anxiety or other adverse effects but just calm and calamity, and hence can focus on the afternoon work.

So I'm epileptic and I have found caffeine to be a trigger at times but not always. I assume adenosine is kind of needed for someone like myself to help suppress the electrical activity on the individual cells to avoid the potential for misfiring? So any interruption of this process can cause issues I can only assume (makes sense to me) Nonetheless, I love the video

I used to drink coffee like it was water, there was one time I was abroad for work, it was all tea and water! I felt sick after a long day, and my boss said it was caffeine withdrawal. My doctor recommended cutting back, last year replaced it with hot chocolate. This year I returned to coffee but only 3 cups, 1 in the morning, a white coffee in the afternoon, and 1 at night. When I have a headache, I take medication with coffee to speed up the effects.

yeah, im definitely addicted, but i do try to make it work for me. i love coffee as an artificial mood enhancer. even on a terrible day it can make bad things glide off me. i wont drink it every day, it tends to dehydrate me and i'll cut back harder if i can feel the effects waning. i also prefer to drink coffee when im already well rested, when im tired it just makes me jittery and tired.

I want to share a pitfall if caffeine. I have been taking pre workout drinks for about 20yrs. So much that now I have acid reflux. In my case it was “silent” reflux where it wasn’t heartburn but it demonstrated as a cough. The acid reflux ended up causing a small growth on my throat from irritation. I know share my story with young kids at the gym to not even start. Save your health and money.

How does all this relate to people who get a calming effect from caffeine? For example: Caffeine used to put me to sleep when I was an occasional user. Now that I use it when I have a migraine (I have chronic migraine,) it doesn't put me to sleep, but it still has a calming effect on me.

It does take about 12hrs for caffeine to fully exit the system. That's why it is suggested to limit your caffeine intake to max 8hrs before sleep. The minor caffeine content in some teas has been shown to be fine for me if I consume it at night.

i drink white tea every day and occassionally caffeinated coffee. When I drink coffee, I'll usually drink it 3 or 4 days in a row and then not all for a couple or more weeks. The biggest thing I notice is that when I am tired and in need of sleep, drinking coffee, the few times I've done so when tired, makes me even more tired. Instead of a "rush" I'll get just the opposite. Strange.
