I've supposed walking on water to be no more unnatural than the surface tension that prevents falling through the floor or anything else supposedly supportive. I reasoned that the creator of the universe could easily change the surface tension of water so it could be walked on. Thank you Mike!! Your teachings and expositions of scripture are so encouraging and precious! As in valuable. Jesus is Emmanuel, God with us! And now He has given to us the Holy Spirit and we still have Emmanuel!! It is also significant that you said we are not just a little different from the world, we have a completely different worldview. In my life there are times that I forget that, but then sometimes I have an encounter that highlights that fact. As has been happening in my life quite frequently recently. It was like, whoa, you see completely differently from me don't you? God gives us eyes to see restoring the sight of the blind! Hallelujah. It is also significant that a blind person even in the presence of light can't see. It is not that God is not with us, but that the world is blind even in the presence of the true Light of God. May we soften our hearts before God and believe Him in a faithful trust that He is good and He is enough. That prayer time alone was of great benefit to me. Thank you for encouraging that, saying to pause the video. Prayer and fasting is the very thing that softens our hearts to hear and see God. Jesus teaches this to his disciples after casting out the demons from the son with the palsey casting into the fire and the water. So thank you Mike!! May we soften our hearts before Him, getting alone with Him, honoring Him for who He is daily! He is worthy of it all!

"And now my heart is perfect and pure in every way" -- Mike Winger. So glad the lightening didn't turn you to charcoal on the spot, because I very much appreciate your messages. I never even THOUGHT about that question before! I just ASSUMED he walked on water, out of CONVENIENCE... Seriously! I sure look forward to watching THIS video Mike!
@DavidJohnson-xr2rz5 жыл бұрын
If you try literally walking on the surface of a lake, you'll discover that it's very inconvenient. Besides which, according to Luke-Acts Jesus could just kinda fly around and appear and disappear anyplace he wanted, which is a helluvalot more convenient than riding in a boat in bad weather and trekking the Jerico road, etc. But the author of Luke-Acts may have been kinda confused about that matter, since the other Gospel authors report nothing of that sort. Gee,if a thing like that were true, EVERYONE would have been talking about it and asking for demos and writing about it.

The disciples obediently crossed the water, despite probably being aware of an incoming storm. It's funny to think how they still didn't realize what kind of person Jesus was when they acted in faith. Like, they definitely didn't realize Jesus would eventually be somehow walking beside them during the storm. Sometimes in my life Jesus will do things I don't expect. It's kind of what makes him alive, his unpredictability. This is a being that is interacting back to me, in response of what I do. I love the "wow I didn't expect that" feeling of pursuing God. Be careful about assuming a hardship is a trial meant to test your faith. Very *very* few people have faith worthy of being tested, and until they do God uses hardships to discipline those he loves. If you’re being disciplined to stop doing something you shouldn’t be doing, or to start doing something you should be doing, and you instead just go on as usual assuming it’s a “trial” rather than discipline, you’re just asking for more discipline. If we judge ourselves properly God doesn’t have to judge us and we can avoid hardships. Being trained by this produces righteousness and peace, and prepares you for eventually being tested.

Mike, it's GREAT that you brought up the ego eimi statement in Mrk6:50 (at 49:42) I've always thought it strange that essentially ALL of our English versions translate that ἐγώ εἰμι as "it is I" , even many of the literal translations like Young's don't translate it as a straight "I am," but supply other words. But then these same bibles all consistently translate John's usage of the same Greek as "I am." As well as Mrk14:62... Jesus' answer to Pilate is also rendered by most English versions, "I am." Kinda cool... all of the traditional Spanish Bibles, (Osos, SE, RV1909, RV1960, etc), render Mrk6:50 & Mat14:27 as YO SOY.

I hadn't ever really thought there even WAS a specific reason why he walked on water... other than out of mere CONVENIENCE. Seriously! Now I'm sure looking forward to hearing MIKE'S thought on this!

Why did Jesus walk on water? To get to the other side.

Yes, God manipulates nature. As in he USES it. People try to disprove God with science, but fail to realize science and the Bible go hand in hand. And the more we learn and discover, the more we see that to be true.

I absolutely agree with you, brother.

@@jonathant.6382 you ever seen something called the exodus decoded? It basically gives the scientific explanation of what happened. YHWH basically used a volcanic eruption close by to rain hell on Egypt until they freed his people. It’s pretty cool.

About the mirage theory: Is it sensible that about 12 men see the same thing at the same time at the same place and hear the same thing? Because that's my counter argument before knowing the science/physics.

That SpongeBob example made me lol at work, and that was such a good illustration. I will absolutely be using that in the future when talking about miracles 😂
@marceloribeirosimoes89595 жыл бұрын
Every single miracle made by Yeshua was telling to jews, now to us, WHO HE IS. Just like in the Old Covenant, we see Him on eternity, being called "the father", showing to the Jews WHO HE IS, to be recognized there and to be recognized here on Earth.

He was called the father? I thought he was known as "I Am".

Jesus is NOT the Father. Stupid modalist!
@marceloribeirosimoes89595 жыл бұрын
@@justchilling704 - Try to read The Bible and to learn a lot of Hebrew. It will help a lot! The use of "father" referring to The Creator was generic, true but generic, meaning THE CREATOR of all things and all human beings... ...look: Dt 32:6 ; 2Sm 7:14; 1Cr 28:6; Sl 68:5; Sl 89:26; Sl 103:13; Is 63:16; Is 64:8; Jr 3:4; Jr 3:19; Jr 31:9; Ex 4:22, the father of Israel (generic). Here the difference between the generic and the second stage of the salvific process: At 13:33 and Hb 1:5 Now to us: Rm 8:15 There's a huge difference between our "occidental way of thinking" and the way a Hebrew used to understand things. That's not just the writing direction (right to left). For example, the future is ahead and the past is behind us, right? NOOO, the Hebrew understands that the future is behind and the past is in front of us because we can see what we did in the past, so this is right in front of our eyes. And the future, of course, is behind us because we can't see it. In the same pattern, when you call some "son of somebody" you may be calling that person "the same as somebody" (where "somebody" is the name of someone else). That's because of they understand that you are a continuation of your carnal father because you got out of him - so you are "your father 2.0 version" (just to help you figure out). And that's the main revelation in Mt 16:16. And only those that understood that could truly follow Christ ("the man" Jesus is called Christ just like he is called "the lamb of The Creator" because he was made to die for us). And that WHY we see many interpolating references to The Creator and Jesus through all the epistles...

I love the thought that Jesus walked by on the water to reveal them who he really is. But they still don’t get it. Similar to these verses: „He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed.“ Psalms 107:29 ESV And: „And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Peace! Be still!" And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.“ Mark 4:39 ESV How Jesus must have thought ‚know your scriptures, men!‘ no wonder he got angry that they still didn’t recognize their creator. „He said to them, "Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?"“ Mark 4:40 ESV I have a long list with verses in the NT that reveal Jesus to represent YHWH of the OT. But this one was new, I really appreciate it.

1) Who is narrating the walk on water? 2) How many witnesses were there? 3) Is this verse the ONLY source? Or did the other witnesses write an account. 4) Again, were there any witnesses?

They could be on their lunch break, etc;….I usually take a photo of the scriptures shown. A consideration, Thank you so much.

Interesting. Only just heard up to the talk about "crossing over" so far and want to flag the idea for much deeper study. "Hebrew" in "Hebrew" is the name of the people and means "cross (over)". So O.T. "crossing over" passages have a sort of harkening to the Hebrew people and thier experience. David leaving Jerusalem under persecution is littered with repetition of the verb in Hebrew. Then I hear this about Mark in the NT. Time to add it to the "will study more in depth" list. For now pressing play again at 16:26

The fact is that there are wars and natural disasters, tornados, earthquakes, fires, etc. there were examples where cities were decimated and rather than rebuild on the same sight, the peoples would rebuild adjacent. That was another theory about Bethsaida.
