At 53 going on 54 in May . Been framing homes my whole life . Never in my whole career any of us frame this way . The fact is now its all wall panels framed at our lumber yard . Wall plates/ jack trimmers/ sills / header material its all put on a carasel and fed into a computerized cnc saw layed out in ink all ready to pop together with gun nails . All sent out on a tractor trailer strapped and tacked together. Frame whatever way you want . I would work smarter not harder and you have lot to learn my friend

Cause that’s how Larry Haun did it as it was the most efficient way to lay out your walls and ensure accuracy when marking studs and openings.

Walking along the ground pulling layout at chest or shoulder height is preferable to leaning over up on the subfloor. Overlapping double top plate forthcoming

Spruce walls with let in bracing would be nice to lift, Doug fir is heavy and frequently wet

Why is there only one nail in each location?

This guy is prepping plates for layout. He doesn't need to overlap them because only the first top plate gets layout marks. The second top plate overlaps and gets added as the walls are being built on the deck. Also, he's using only minimal nails art this point because they are temporary and will be removed in order to build the wall.

WHY ALL THE NEGATIVITY???
@qwerty123123ify
@qwerty123123ify Ай бұрын
Because they're cutting corners to rush but then hand driving all their nails to go slow as fuck. If you're going to hand drive all your nails you might aswell take the time to frame properly. Also homeboy is wearing sandals that's asking for trouble

Why not over lap the bottom and top plate for a more secure connection

Its the Double top plate that overlaps after the wall is built.

It gets weaved when the double top plate is put on after walls are erected is my guess.

@Bartacolips 52 years. How many have you??? Keeping the saw blade way from yourself is carpentry 101. Same goes for your power cord. I can't tell you how many Milwaukee saws I've seen that had their cords cut from the stupid setup of having it hang from the bottom tip of the handel getting caught in the blade guard after a cut.
