In this video, Elliott explores the folly of clinging to the past, even during moments of past glory, using his own life journey as an example. He discusses the stages of life, likening them to climbing hills and mountains, and emphasizes the importance of embracing change and growth. Elliott encourages viewers to acknowledge their current stage in life, be it as a warrior, king, or elder, and to understand that each phase offers valuable lessons and opportunities for personal development.

My ex-fiance leaving me was the catalyst for God to bring me to the underworld and reveal His love to me in a profound way. The past 2 years, coming back to the faith, have been massively transformational and I do my very best to no longer live for myself. I seek to serve the Will of the Father, and in doing so, He's abundantly pouring out blessings and favour upon me and showing me my true calling in this life. Praise the Lord.

Lost my job and not long after wife said she wanted to separate. As I'm in my 40's I can relate to that valley. So I'm in my katabasis on the way up that mountain to grab that crown. Lost a lot of weight, in better physical shape than I've been in years. Furthered my education, got a new job. Eyes on the prize.

Dear Elliott, this has been a channel that I have always considered a go to for any man. I have been watching it since you began in the early 2000s. I have always considered you as an older brother, the older brother I never had, "who just told it as it is", and it has been wonderful to watch you change and evolve as a human being, regardless of what some people think or would want you to be. This video is truly eye opening, as it summarises your whole life, its "ups and downs". In many ways, it parallels what has happened to me recently. Over the last two years I had faced a wall that I refused to see, and it affected me in such a way, that the more I refused, the more it destroyed my body. The wall manifested itself into a physical one, so that the more I clashed with it, the more it broke me down, to a point where my doctors were literally begging me to leave this "place" I had put myself in. I was in a wheel chair at one point, with incredible pain, IBS, blind in one eye, asthmatic, with signs of autoimmune disease and almost died at one point. It was life telling me to let go, to let go of the past. Like you I had reached the top in my field of medical science, but I fell into Katabasis, and I refused to reinvent myself. Only now that I have learnt to let go and healed, have I finally seen my acceptance turn into a new and exciting chapter in my life, one in which I look forward to. I am climbing this new peak, a giant one, and like you, using my experiences and knowledge I have gained in the past, I plan to conquer it, and become KING. God Speed my Brother. Sincerely, Carlos

I’m 40 and have been bitch slapped a few times in my 30s. Those were great learning experiences that helped me to adjust, adapt, and change course as best as I can. Slowing down in old age sucks, but it’s just part of life. No sense in lamenting it and bitterly longing for something that will never be. I don’t long for the “gold ol’ days” and just keep comparing current myself to my potential self as I keep maximizing my potential. Everyone has their unique journeys with some thriving more than others. If I keep comparing myself to others, I will never ever be content with who I am because there will always be someone ahead in every aspect of life I can imagine. I’m currently the strongest and most muscular I’ve ever been (I was a late bloomer) with more room for lifting PRs and muscle development. I’ve regressed socially a tad during the pandemic, but I’m making gradual inroads on that.

Elliot I have watched your channel since 2017 and have always enjoyed your videos from the “past”. I’ve also been watching your channel through your seasons of ups and downs, and comparing your experiences with mine I can definitely say I agree with everything you say on this video. Life is constant ups and down, seasons of pain and suffering to seasons of love and joy. There’s no point getting stuck on one certain time in your life where everything was going well, because that was just part of a season and you’ve got many more to experience. If you’re always looking back at the past you’re not living enough in the present.

We can’t be the high-revving young buck forever. Age slows and tames us. To try in vain to hold onto the glory days is a fools errand that will lead to extreme resentment and disappointment. I’ve learned long ago to accept the cycles of life as a long-time reader of Stoicism and other philosophies that talk about accepting reality for what it is and not for what it ought to be but will never be. I know people who claim they “still got it” in their 40s to 60s while they live in a world of delusion and emptiness.

I haven't been keeping up with your videos over the past few years. I found myself watching some YO Elliott videos for 9-10yrs ago last week which landed me here today. Watching your videos years ago inspired me. I competed in powerlifting and strongman, took up mountaineering, bought multiple properties, had a daughter..my highest grossing years...then I tore my meniscus in 2020 (31yrs old)... took off for surgery and before I could go back to work received a call that I lost my job of 10yrs. I floundered for the last couple years (self employed and not in the physical shape I once was)wishing for my late 20s...but this year I've felt that I've begun to find footing and confidence in my businesses. I have the desire to get in better shape...this video really hit all the key notes for me. I feel like I did watching your videos when I was in my mid 20s... inspired and ready to achieve.

Yo Elliot, I think it’s awesome you have realistic expectations about the passage of time. Instead of trying in vain to hold onto the glory days, you have set realistic expectations and goals that allow you to experience eudaemonia into old age. I know too many people trying in vain grasping at their youth as their resentments and bitterness grows in their shallow empty lives.

Hey Elliot, long-time subscriber here, I've been watching you on/off since you started when I was in college. My valley was sickness a few years after I got married, lost a ton of weight and muscle mass, it was an eye-opening experience knowing that I can't fix everything in my own strength. Now that I am married with young son I feel that I am in the King stage. I am a believer in Jesus and He impressed in my spirit that I have to trust him through thick and thin. God Bless brother, good to see you still going hard on this platform in different ways.

Thanks Elliott , I will be 65 in a couple of months I feel I am right on track although according to your chart a late bloomer. I must say in my case your chart is perfectly accurate and I actually enjoyed my "katabasis" like an informative challenge. physically, materially it seems I am half way up from the katabasis but mentally, spiritually I am feeling all stages at once right now , perhaps the very process is evolving in this age we are living in.

Elliott i remember year ago in a video you said that life is like a river going down stream and we are in a canoe and we are having life experiences going down the river flow. sometimes we meet people or end up in nice areas we enjoy and we want to hang on to that we tend to get attached and the more we try to go against the river flow in the past the more we suffer in the present. we have to learn to let go and trust that we will end up where we are meant to be.

Best thing that ever happened to me. I got in shape and started flipping houses. Im now 47, I am still single - by choice. I like the graph you drew at the beginning. I've been through several different phases in life. And I just realized having a full life, a purpose, positive mindset, healthy finances, healthy body and healthy relationships as well as a good spirit is what is important. The women, cars, and all that really don't care about to much. Only because for the cars I'm not fitting in luxury cars due to my height, and as for women just found that having a pure likeminded mentally mature lady brings peace which is what love produces rather then just letting your lust control you. And when you have kids, family, and your community looking up to you it feels good to be an example of something other then what is easy. Also keeps you humble with a healthy ego that leads to you having a healthy self image that is connected to something that's bigger then you. Because even if your body is wounded or your mind. Your self image won't take a hit if its intertwined in helping others win, or whatever your purpose is.

I experienced that death of ego and the lower self at the end of the knight phase before I even attempted to direct the warrior so its always given me existential issues of how or where to put my awareness into, to ground myself while seeing through the physical plane but now im at my lowest point still holding that higher self spiritual awareness.
