First world camping dilemma. "What chair do I bring?" Looks like you'll be able to make the Helinox work just fine. Always good to test before you leave home. Camping chairs are a must!

Back in 1979 my girlfriend and I went on a camping trip on my two stroke three cylinder Suzuki GT550. We visited Germany, Switzerland, France and Monaco in three weeks. We just used what we had. The only things we bought were sleeping bags that could be zipped together. I've never used tables, chairs or pillows on my camping trips before but now I'm 66 and gave myself a folding chair for Christmas. I had planned to make one myself but found the Robens Searcher to be made the way I wanted. The Kermit chairs and tables look great. I like them.

Story of my life from Amazon: "This item cannot be shipped to your location." I've been wanting a chair that I can pack on the back of my 125, but every single "folding chair" I've seen is still 4 foot long! sure, it packs narrow, but I don't like the idea of that kind of overhang on the back of my bike. I like the look of that Helinox chair, so I've got to try and find one Down Under. Gives me a starting point, at least. Right now, all I'm packing is a tail bag. I want to get saddle bags, tank bag, you name it, but I figure what's the point in packing my bike full of crap if I've got nowhere to sit down when I get there?

In some ways, you learning to moto camp with all of the new handi-capable adaptations is similar to many of your newer viewers learning to go moto camping for the first time. I'm kind of preaching to myself more than you, but regular exercise to increase general mobility will pay huge dividends in all aspects of life. It sounds goofy after living an active lifestyle, but it's actually good exercise getting in and out of a chair. It's the old person's version of squats at the gym. I'm glad the Helinox still works for you. It looks like one of the best examples of that general design. Whatever you decide on the moto camp chair, ensure that *EVERYTHING* is secured to your T7 so there is no way it can depart... every time. We all need to be very vigilant about this, and particularly careful any time the situation requires a deviation from our hopefully inherently safe routine practices.

Sitting on the ground SUCKS Ride Safe👋 👽
@Liberty4Ever17 күн бұрын
Around here, sitting on the ground or on a log will get a crotch and butt crack full of chiggers. I don't like the bulk and weight of a camp chair but I did try carrying a large poly mailer slit to make a small tough plastic sheet that was just large enough to cover a sump or log to block chiggers. It kinda worked. A self inflating foam stadium seat cushion similar to a small Thermarest my be a more comfortable compromise between carrying a camp chair and sitting on a log. The last two Moto Giant videos have me almost on an imagineering quest to make a truly ultralight moto camping chair. Isn't that what winter is for?
@DualSportDuffer17 күн бұрын
Oh yeah, a chair is a necessity past a certain age. And the design must be one's butt is NOT lower than one's knees.
@garysbackroadadventures17 күн бұрын
Honestly, I don't see any difference in you getting out of your chair in January of 2025 or June of 22 or August of 23. It might be more difficult for you, but I would never notice a difference. Grunts and sighs sound the same

I don't need a camping chair but I have all my hands and feet. I also don't have a garage or a personal backyard so I prefer to tezt my gear on a small trip, highlyn recommend it to everybody cause it would be really difficult to set up your new tent the first time on a stormy night or remember how to hold an ice axe in the middle of a mountain ^_^
