I have damage to my C3, C4, C5, C7 and T1, I had to give up working on cell phones because of it. I'm off to give this a try. Thank you so much.

I have the exact same damage from the car crash mate. I wake up every morning with a headache and I get random involuntary twitches in my hands but this method works great for me. Hopefully it works for you too 😀

Thank you so much for bringing this problem up! By far this is this the very best video I have seen concerning this problem with shaky hands. This is a great help for both young and older people that wants to get into microsoldering and must say that you seem to be one of those humble guys that are ready to share whatever that adds help to other; thank you! You are also a great teacher as well as an excellent technician; says me ... 35 years in same business and with shaky hands.

There are similar techniques for miniature painting where you brace your hands or rest them on something (like the model holder) to keep them more steady

I suffer with hand Tremor's and there's nothing worse than having shaking hands. The technique you described does make my hands more steadier when soldering small components.

I understand your pain in doing these repairs when not steady and have adhd etc and cannot relax fully. I enjoy repairs but everyone says how do i do it when i cannot concentrate and the components are tiny

Believe it or not but my hands aren't steady and I rest my elbow or wrist yo the side. Great difference! Thanks for sharing. I sometimes place the component first and then heat it which avoids using hands. I just give a small nudge at the end to make sure.

Yeah it's definitely a huge help. Constantly fighting gravity will cause mistakes and causes mental drain too so every little helps when it comes to balancing your hands 😀

@@TheCod3rmy first ever console mod was the Nintendo GameCube with the viper GC extreme chip and boy were my hands shaking trying to solder a wire to the chip because one of the legs was partly under the heatsink. I could have removed it but I had no thermal paste at hand to replace it lol. But I got it done once I found my comfort spot

Ive had an injury to my neck when i was 4 years old due to being thrown from a horse. I suffer from neck and upper back pain everyday and i constantly have headaches. I too don't have steady hands but didn't prop my hands on the board due to static electricity, but i will try propping my wrist to steady my hands. Thanks for that information
@Al-xj2oo Жыл бұрын
If you're doing mobo/solder repairs, and you're working on an anti-static mat, you really don't have to worry about static electricity. (Assuming you're not walking around in socks on a carpet while working of course) I've been repairing motherboards for years now and have never experienced any kind of static electricity / static event. Static electricity is really only a concern when you're replacing new IC's or handling voltage sensitive components out of circuit like a CPU/APU So feel free to stabilize your hands on a mobo whilst doing soldering repairs good sir!
@TheCod3r Жыл бұрын
Yeah as already said static really isn't that big of a deal these days. I've never worn an anti static band or anything and never had a problem personally. Maybe on older electronics it would be but most things these days are pretty impervious to static

Thank you so much for this video lesson. I'm a NASA certified technician, and in my mid 60's. I have an annoying hand tremor, that makes micro-soldering all but impossible. Currently have a Nintendo Switch with a bad M92 chip that needs replacing, and im dreading the job. Im afraid that i'll cause parts to scramble. Any advice is helpful..thanks mate!

I've tried only with the hands down, never with the elbows, I must try it, you need a large space to do it, I'm not a professionist and when I need to repair someting I work in a little space in the desk, I must change this.

Have you ever thought about using some sort of arm support that still allows for movement on the wrist, this would aid in a more steady hand. Also i'm having an issue with Gen 1 Xbox one and want some advised regarding repairs, i would preferable like to carry out the repair myself.
