Actually you're more likely to make "risky" decisions trying to please other people. When you truly focus on your health, your own finances, your purpose in life without distractions and trying to please other people, you'll ultimately be happier. Friends ultimately come and go and the only person you can ultimately count on is yourself.

@@jsm9096 - Great reply about my comment Britney. :) I have always been a loner/introvert and don't feel the pressure to care about societal expectations that friends are a necessity. When I have let friends into my life they ultimate flake and/or let me down. So maintaining those types of acquaintances just adds stress more than anything else. It's funny though. I've always done very well with women my whole life. But what weirds them out is that I don't care about having friends in my life. Always the same thing. Hit the 2-3 month mark, they ask about meeting my friends, I say I don't keep friends in my life, and they ghost. Many women consider a guy with no friends as a red flag apparently. In the end though I am happy to be a very successful financially independent guy that is also hot and athletic. Who needs friends when you have money, date a lot, and are close with your family?

Yes, if you have friends you'll make less risks, but honestly wouldn't you want to take risks anyways rather than playing safe and trying to fit in or whatever? That's the prime example of living someone else's life. Sadly, people come and go, and what you've made for yourself doesn't make sense anymore. The fitting in thing doesn't last forever and people end up finding their own thing. You don't want to be that guy who's lost after everyone has left, and the party is over. Now you are "lonely" lonely.

I lost all my friends years ago. I have a son with nonverbal autism, and have to put all my time with him. People just stopped calling and texting and being around. Been about 7 years. Some people just suck.

As someone with autism, I feel the need to apologize and I hope your son is doing well, just done advice though, don’t smother him just because he is autistic. My own mother did that to me until deep into my mid teens and I eventually had to tell her that I don’t need her there every second. She was overjoyed of course with how well I was doing but at the same time, she had also lost all friends. Whenever I'm sad, I'm apparently "looking for attention". Whenever I ask someone for help, I'm apparently "too dependent". Whenever they ask me "are you okay?", they don't really care about me... they're just curious as to what happened. Whenever I tell them what's wrong, I'm apparently "too annoying" because I keep "ranting" about stuff they don't care about. Like last time I invited my best friend over I had a plan that we would take turns on our fave things (I had compromised a fair plan) and she (of course) proceeded to play with my toys and paint and her favourite stuff, leaving me crying (I managed to hide it) cause she used my stuff, never thanked me, and ignored me. Yes, but KZbin is unlike most forms of social media in that your videos can easily viewed by anyone, whereas many other sites make it so you simply post something and all your friends see it. Yes, you can still find other people's profile, but you have to search it up; it won't just pop up as a recommended video.

Kushothe I have few close friends, and just a bit more aquaintences, but I don't interact, hangout, or even talk to them sometimes for months or more - but I get along fine. As a timid, awkward, social outcast growing up, I learned to cope with not having close friends; it took a while lot of failed attempts at friendships, and a ton of soul searching. I am happy just doing my own things, I don't need the approval or appreciation from others. Granted I'm married now, but she's very much like me in this regard, so we're two peas in a pod. We're happy, kind, loving, and always friendly to everyone else. So, I think the need of having friends is dependent on your personality.

I think friends ask for help isn't befriending you just for that, ( maybe wrong) but it is important to make friends if you want to survive in society and there's nothing wrong with them asking for help it creates a mutual benefit for both. and the guys that didn't invite you probly just couldn't relate to you, and there will always be someone whom you can't relate to, awkward or cool, you just have to find the right match. dw been there before so I understand how you feel, just entered university, finding new friends and I hope you will too. good luck and wish me luck too:). just my 2 cents opinion btw.

Hmmm, who do I prefer: My IRL 'friends' ignore me until they need something from me. They only want me around when it fits their needs. Honestly it's best to keep your circle small .... I say this because in the past , I've had many friends from areas around me , but in the long run , something in my mind triggered a sense of not having too many friends to stay in touch with me because of the drama that comes with certain ppl , so I exclude them from my life knowing that my goal is to move on by meeting new friends and only allowing certain old friends to stay in contact with me ...... It's funny because all of my life I've surrounded myself with 2-3 people (changing, ofc) and recently I've ended my friendship with 2 of my best friends leaving myself completely alone. And this actually reduced stress, overthinking, expectations and other things that bug me for most of my life. I always sit by myself on the bench at school and listen to music during breaks. I've only once had someone ask me, "Do you have friends?" to which I immediately replied, "Does it matter?" I'm doing fine by myself and i've accomplished a lot that way. I've had 'friends' before I went completely solo but all they did was gossip, drink almost every weekend, vape, smoke and use edibles. I know because I was like an observer with them and that was before I felt ashamed to be alone. There have been 1 or 2 good people that I came across but i'm just not invested in maintaining a friendship as I once was. Overall, in my opinion, it's ok to not have any friends. Trust yourself because you will need to depend on yourself when no one else can help you.

I have so called "friends" at school. I talk to people in class and have a group of people I sit by at lunch, but they don't care about me. I haven't invited anyone out to do anything in 2 whole years! I used to have 2 great friends in Elementary and middle school, but they both moved away 5 years ago. I am not bad looking, I am a decent athlete, a little bit socially akward but not that bad, but I am just different. I think differently than other people. I'm not saying I'm slow, I see the world in a different way now. I laugh a lot just to cope with the lonley and depressing thoughts I get every once and a while. I met a guy 2 years ago who was new at my school. I finally got the guts to say hi as we were walking home. We hit it off right away. He was from Texas and had a deep southern accent. He wore big, light brown cowboy boots and a pale green coat. We talked about all types of shit at school. Made time fly. For once I had Genuine laughter. We skated at the park, hung out at the bowling alley, music shop, and the baseball complex. We sat listening to music for hours on end. I had my first beer with him. I lost my virginity to a girl, which he helped me pick up.(He was way better with women than me) Well things were good, but just like that they weren't. Over Christmas break he called me and said he was moving in 3 days because his dad got a new job out east. This killed me inside. I was sick then so I couldn't go over to his house to say bye in person. He was going to come over to my. place, but his dad made them leave a day early. My friend called me again and said bye. And just like that my best friend was out of touch. I haven't talked to him in two years but if we ever met again I would make sure to have a few cold ones as we catch up and share some laughs again.
