Do you remember the old Fatalis?

16K HP, 70 Defense, 80 HZV on the head. This was MHFU Black Fatalis.
Melee weapons (except GS xD) have a hard time on this boi because the height of the head is too high to reach, you just have a few occasions to be able to properly hit the head.

Fatalis basically lived the opposite of power creep; you would think a plain old fire breathing dragon would quickly become irrelevant next to more outrageous monsters, but then Iceborne rejuvenated the old legend and assured us why it’s reputed as the baddest of them all.

Iceborne's is cool too but damn it's just not enjoyable if you don't have a literal set just made to beat him and have master knowledge of mechanics But the head break being necessary is incredibly bad in my opinion

@@hugo-pg5tv lots of one shot move , and here peppo is baiting his pattern , knows the hzv which we didn't have at the time it's mostly a boring fight in which i fyou get hit you die and there's ton of HP so it's a matter of doing a mostly no damage run.

This fight used to be sooo annoying. Usually it took 4 consecutive hunts to do it solo. Plus bastard could one shot you by lightly touching you in its rage mode. The fight would basically be waiting for the dragonator to recharge and pelting it with the Akantor bow. This fight is a nightmare for me to melee.

Man I remember fighting him in MH1 and just every weapon bouncing off of him like he was made of steel and unsure what to do. Then some more experience players helped me to build a clusting set specifically for the fight and we got to do some event farming that way. Just clust him from the ballista/cannon locations and hoping to not get sniped by explolsions and even then most of the time it took 2 runs. This sure is different from whatever the nonsense we ever did.

Most 2nd gen monsters were great actually. Rajang, Teostra, Akantor, D. Hermitaut and S. Ceanataur, Tigrex, Narga etc. Fatalis is pretty bad because he got ported unchanged from gen 1, like most other gen 1 monsters in FU.

Maybe what happened in these older games is that there’s a rage bar that slowly increases as the fight goes on. Flinches and part breaks might increase the rage, and stronger attacks too. So maybe the incremental increase in the rage bar hit the max value right as he was doing that fireball and the game prioritized the rage roar instead.

I started with Freedom just before Tri came out and I’ve been hooked on the series ever since. Went back and played freedom 2 and FU. In my honest veteran opinion I find the iceborne fatalis to be the harder version of base fatalis. Crimson and White are a different story however

​@@nathanwidener9006He was harder in the old Gen but for the wrong reasons, Hell as an OG of the first MH he was awful back then since you couldn't even fight him as blademaster since all of the melee weapons would just bounce off him, since we only had green sharpness as max back then, he would 1-shot you just for moving or turning around and all around he was just a very cheap and terribly designed fight showing how much Capcom has improved honestly, and his Sub-Species were even worst pre-4 Ultimate. Funny Trivi if you know your japanese you can still find forums of 2008~2010 of JP people releasing their inner anger in those forums because how unfun, hard, and cheap his fight was.xD

I haven't done the Freedom Unite fight but I have killed him in Freedom 1, we were a team of 4 with one guy with paralysis bowgun and the rest of us with Eternal Schism dual blades, it still took us about 40 minutes of getting in every hit we could and dodging almost every attack he did and planting bombs under him when he flew.

ah ancient times, where having a basic map theme with vocals added was considered final boss track worthy, no seriously look up MH1 OST forest and hills, and flying up to do 2 tiny fire balls was a super attack lmao the fatalis fight was in no way deserving of its lore it got until MHWI. even so lao shan lung, the first siege ish fight, that was canonically running away from fatalis got a 2 unique/much more epic themes was just weird. also when you would lose to a sand fish only because it refused to be fightable for most of the timer so timing out was a real concern even with 50 minutes. wasn't just cephadrome either on that issue.

Do you plan to showcase 4u? To me it is the most recent 'classic' mh with A LOT of improvements to fights for literally all the monsters you've showcased, especially teo, fatalis etc. FU while fantastic is a little old, even when compared to 3u, 4u and gu. Fatalis saw a drastic improvement in 4u

@@PeppoLS I agree that 4u LS was a bit weird, but it was still manageable. I'm not sure why they made you lose all spirit levels once one depleted, and im also not sure why you couldn't refresh a level. What the strategy became for 4u LS was you would stay in yellow gauge until it almost runs out, then you level it up to red. Besides that, 4u added the fade slash into spirit 3 shortcut compared to 3u/p3rd. This at least makes it faster to level up your gauges. You can still play and enjoy 4u ls despite its shortcomings. It's understandable if you still won't What I don't understand is that you said you don't like 4th gen ls. GU valor ls is really great. It's a more risk-reward/balanced playstyle for counter ls than world or rise. Especially rise. But you enjoy rise ls. If that's the case, what's wrong with valor ls?

first get his armor from breaking the head twice. then make a switch axe build and spam the discharge move on his legs/head. don't forget heavy artillery and ghillie mantle for the cannons
