What do you wish you knew before your first UTI?
Julie, a 49-year-old carer, discussed her experience:
“I remember when I first had a UTI, I was scared to tell anyone. I thought I had done something wrong or that I might have had an STI! I wish I wasn’t so scared to talk to someone. I wish I was more open about it, so I could have got treatment quicker. I don’t think UTIs are discussed enough, or they're just brushed to the side as not serious. I wish I knew the more serious effects of UTI, as then I wouldn’t have been so quiet about it. I didn’t know it could lead to a kidney infection.”
Can you relate to Julie’s experience? What do you wish you'd known?
