Henry Holman worked for Warner Brothers when the show was filmed in GA. His shop was responsible for repairing and painting all the cars used during filming. There were 5 original General Lee's. Facts.......

Me too, I sat in several signed General Lee, cars. Seen/got pictures of daisy's jeep. Cooters truck. The police car from the Andy Griffith show. Boss hog's, caddy. Daisy had a mooar or two that was at Dukes Fest, 2006, Nashville. I met John Schneider, Catherine Bach, James best.

My favorite part is how there is black underneath the orange paint. In the series bo and Luke found general Lee in a junkyard and it was black. If I remember correctly it was used in some kind of robbery gone bad. :-) awesome touch that many people might not catch or know.

Most the the General Lee cars after use were parted down for building more generals. Also there is no push bar on the front bumper which with everything else in tact you think is would be there and without the push bar or any rebal/ checker flag sticker near the antenna it is hard to tell if the car was from the older or newer part of the show. And there is no antenna or hole from the antenna that would usually be on there. There is no role cage which sometimes on the show they would have fake roll cages by hanging a bar down in the inside of the car.

Loads of the screen cars didn't have proper roll cages. They only had a bit of tube hanging from the roof to look like a roll cage. Depends if it was a jump car or not. The jump cars didn't have glass windscreens either.

If there's a label on the speedometer marked WGL and a number, that's an indication it was screen used.

that tag moved to inside the firewall at some point also those tags were made with a label maker and they didnt stay on the cars long the glue failed on them

Could be. It depends on where they bought it. The engine may be upgraded since then, but the stuntcars they used for regular runs, not the jumps, would get rock damage during filming, and they wouldn't bother with repaint unless it needed to look good on the screen. Either way, it deserves some TLC and elbow grease to get it looking good.

I sat in one at a museum in Murdo , SD and opened the glove box and there was an insurance card written to Cinema Studios. It had a 318. Amazing experience!

This Charger was modified! Originally, it was a column shift properly a 318 Ci., then they put the shifter on the floor. The "01" is farther apart. It could have been an extra used on a place section for close up shots. The original Charger was a 440 with a 727B 3 speed automatic transmission, which is in the museum. They actually used the sound bed of the Bullit movie to make it seem like the Charger was a manual.

This is not from the series. the cars in the show never had carpet and the 01 is way too far apart on the drivers door for it to be real. The only General with an 01 like that was Lee 3, and that was repainted and jumped in season 2. Only 17 Original cars made it out. The rest were chopped up and crushed
