I don't think he really cares if you think it sounds good and would care if it's replayable. Everyone has different opinions anyways so no matter what he does he'll still get hate. So might as well just do what he wants to do and I think that that's fair, I honestly just enjoy hearing new content from him just hearing his thoughts on songs and his words even if it might not be considered the "best".

'Cause I'ma drop the ball if I don't get a grip" that's exactly what Joe Budden is talking about, because Revival is basically the follow up of Recovery.

Eminem is genius lyrically, but for a while now he makes poor decisions regarding beats and hooks..that Rick Rubin rock music is the weakest link here, not the bars or the message.

Trevor Henry but bro.. this wasnt produced by him. It was one of his friends Mr.Porter
@trevorhenry54557 жыл бұрын
theclanavenger I didn’t know that, but it sounds like a typical old skool rock type Rick Rubin Production, maybe Rick Executive produced it as it’s got the Beastie Boys vibe even the way Em is so animated on it, lyrically it’s like 99 Problems also.
@thclanavenger7 жыл бұрын
Trevor Henry yeah.. man sometimes i wish he could interact with hand picked fans so he can grasp what our "taste" is today. And then have a high qualified new school producers on his album :) i really dont wanna see him fail because of people around him being yes men or some snakes like Joe implied.
@trevorhenry54557 жыл бұрын
theclanavenger Agreed, I just want him to get back to some dope HipHop beats, he did this on “The Bad Meets Evil” project with Royce...his first 3 albums had great beats also, even Relapse had nice production on it...it’s just too much of the rock stuff and whinny sung choruses or poptastic Skylar Grey hooks, just puts me off...he doesn’t need any of it...He is clearly one of the best rappers to ever do it and he’s already a pop star, he doesn’t need to make corny music to sell..if anything he should be more HipHop than ever.
@tiffanim5477 жыл бұрын
theclanavenger I agree....hey I'm going to be creating a poll/petition to try and get to his camp. Just maybe we can be heard. Em is doing too much....We all know that he is a virtuoso rapper. Dre produced the whole of Relapse and Compton was the last thing he released. In case it has been forgotten, Relapse was hot trash, in large part because of the beats, and Compton featured the same pop and indy rock sound that makes Revival such a disaster. And they did songs with Skylar Grey together, which were the same BS. Going back to Dre is going to result in more of the same disaster. Dre has stopped making hip-hop a long time ago.

I’m the Stan format and it surpasses Stan. There’s so many songs where he has different feel. There isn’t 6 pop songs. You have all the different styles in the Album. I sympathize with Eminem fans who don't like rock music since your gut reaction will be to dislike any of his rock-influenced songs, but that shouldn't be conflated with the song itself being bad. I love this song and enjoy how Em contrasted the rock beat for the cop's perspective with the more traditional hip hop beat for the perspective of black Americans.

I can't help but agree. I haven't really been into an Eminem album since Relapse, and even that is classed as a mediocre album. I only really like it cos it's just rappity rap on some real hip-hop beats. But what came before that album? Encore? Another pretty bad album, that i only like in parts because it's rather funny and has comedic value. So what, near 15 years since a solid album? If Em wasn't as technically gifted lyrically as he is, he would have no claim to GOAT status whatsoever it seems. If it wasn't for him being able to do verbal acrobatics the way he does and rap circles around the majority of MC's, mainstream or underground, he wouldn't be mentioned. The MUSIC is bad. Poor beat selection (since Relapse, consistently!) Stop working with these out of touch producers like Rick Rubin (who i don't think was ever that great anyway). The beats are just like, NOTHING. Don't fit anywhere. They aren't boom bap, they aren't trap, they aren't that Detroit soul sound, hell they aren't even pop. Flow isn't smooth, sure he's rhyming his arse off with clever lines and such, but i can't bob my head along to it, it's all choppy and not one with the beat. Whats he doing with his voice? He's either shouting one moment or sounding like he's speaking through his nose the next. Rap like you did on The Eminem Show. No high pitch gimmick, no shouting, just your actual voice...doesn't seem difficult. Features. Jesus, get slaughterhouse on a feature. Get Dre. Get 50 and maybe even the rest of G-Unit. Fuck even get Drake. Get a beat from Kanye. Work with J Cole, he idolised you! A studio session with you and him would surely produce some magic. Get a motherfucking J Dilla beat ffs! But nah, Em always sounds out of place when he hops on tracks with others now, he just doesn't fit. I don't know...

Sicarius Angelus Em has always had the problem white people have in rap. Too technical but no sense of musicality or soul. That's why his music hasn't aged. He was never that good to begin with outside of being a stellar wordsmith
@anthonycelestin35597 жыл бұрын
Richie Biz Which white rapper has great musicality or soul? I agree with you somewhat, but why are their so many soulful white singers and it seems that the white rappers aren't as soulful?
@richiebuz7 жыл бұрын
Anthony Celestin Because rap is harder since it's less musical
@anthonycelestin35597 жыл бұрын
Richie Buz What I realize is that hip hop/rap now is getting more melodic. The top rapper now Kendrick Lamar is singing more and rapping less, this is evident in Damn, I feel like Damn lyrically is more simplistic and Kendrick is singing/harmonizing more compared to GKMC and TPAB. Kendrick use to switch up his cadence and voice a lot before, but for some reason I noticed Kendrick singing more now. Rap has a reputation of being less musical because its usually all about the lyrics and the music isnt as important. I feel like before 2014, if u were a big/popular rapper your singles would usually have a song that has a catchy hook and sometimes the raps can be simplistic, but the actual albums had all rapping. Look at Lil Wayne Carter 3, his hit single had "Lollipop" but if u look at his actual album Wayne is just rapping, same thing wit Ti Paper Trail his hit single before it was released was him singing which was "Whatever u Like" but the whole album Ti is rapping. Back in the 90s, Biggie had "Hypnotize" and Big Pun "Dont want to be a Player no More" where theres a catchy hook and beat but despite that their still rapping their ass off. It seemed that after 2013 rap changed a lot. In 2014, rappers werent doing anything and sales were declining, the only thing that was popping was R&B artist and rappers singing and rapping over DJ Mustard which hip hop starting shifting towards more party music. And in 2015-2017, theres this trap/mumble rap/new age party rap craze where rappers are using a lot of triplet flows, autotune, and slurring and mumbling the words, the basis of rap are words and now hip hop shifting to more melody and now its accepted for words to not be important which contradicts the basis of hip hop being all about the words. Maybe Eminem is falling behind the times as hes getting older and him rapping over a Beastie Boys time of sound is dated. I dont think only Eminem has this issue, many older black rappers and some younger have a harder time adapting. I agree wit u dat rap can be harder to do since it is less musical, but if u look at the landscape of rap music now that doesnt seem to be the case.

JB said some things that make sense...Em is surrounded with great producers that could have done a better job on this album...Even Dre as an executive producer did not drop a single track that meets his standards...I did not know about Paul Rosenberg's job at DefJam, which explains pretty much why Rick Rubin is taking a cut from this album with his old school hip hop meets rock production.

I did, but what's the point if you're not doing anything to grab the attention of the listeners. The only reason, and the only reason I listened as far as I did is because it's Eminem, but if you ask me, if half of the track is trash, then so is the whole thing.
@edleyspsn7 жыл бұрын
James Young yeah like that makes any sense.....you clearly missed he's purpose for having the beginning sound like that!! The first part mirrors the perspective of a white person and the second part mirrors that of a black person just so happens that white people music is trash🤷🏾♂️

Edley Raymond My thoughts exactly. The two parts are important to each other... The first part gives the second part more meaning. Without it, the second part would be out of place. Maybe because I like rock, the first part grew on me and became catchy. But then again, to each his own
