@@exoticcar5482 True. I think fame and prosperity has kind of cooled him off since then and I don't think he could ever get back to that place. Yes the fact that he got bad reviews from Revival makes him angrier than he has in a long time and MGK's disses got under his skin but I think he's been through so much worse stuff now that this isn't going to phase him like things did in his early days, hence less fury. He talked about this a lot in Believe off Revival. I feel like he gets a lot of hate because of speaking his political opinion but to be truthful he's one of the only people to be that brutally honest, and even if not everyone agrees whether it's because people support trump or don't like the fact that Eminem used his platform to speak a political opinion, he still did that and that's what takes a lot of courage and I fully support him for doing that.
@justinfinch98526 жыл бұрын
It's really more that he doesn't know what he's talking about, he just spews hate and can't really back it up. Then he makes false claims, such as in this video "...waiting for something great to happen. Nothing's happening.". I think Trumps an idiot, I didn't vote for him. But taking the numbers into account, to say that "nothing's happening" is either ignorant, or entirely disingenuous. I fully support his right to his opinion, but it doesn't mean he's right.

His quality has matured dramatically. You can hear it throughout his newer music (recovery, kamikaze, etc.), his anger has grown threefold since he now sees the message and purpose behind where his anger is to be directed at!

Em, you've made it, man. Look at you on the Oscars! You have universal appeal and THAT is something VERY few people have. I live in Las Vegas, have spoken with a LOT of people from a LOT of places all different walks of life and into different stuff. You know what I hear the MOST often when talking about rap? "I don't really like rap, but I like Eminem..." True story. And look at you on the Oscars! Standing ovation! You've brought ME around, and that's saying a lot. I was a hardcore hold-out from the 80's. I'm exactly two months older than you-to the day, so I was listening to stuff that was already established when you came along and did NOT want to let go. But then I heard Elton John's hook on "Stan". I love Elton so I listened to the song again and got the full gist of the song. I thought it was pretty cool, but didn't really wanna give the rest of it a chance. A few years later, I heard "My Darling" and I LOVED the concept! I listened to a bit more and a bit more, read up on you and found out more about you, found out you and I have a TON in common and now I am a full-blown fan. If anyone has earned it, it's you. I hear you about the "tug-of-war" about who you're supposed to be. I can imagine that's gotta be frustrating. But trust me-you've got cred, now; you've got respect. You've earned it. Wear it. Come from your mature self and roll with it as the mature man you've become while you're on stage. Show your fans how to act in a civilized manner and encourage them to take action with passionate speeches and songs like "Lose Yourself". Then when you're in Vegas next time, hit me up and we'll hang out, smoke a bowl and just act stupid. We can act immature and have fun then because everyone needs to do it, once in a while. You're not done, Em; you're just getting started. Keep going! We all want to hear what you've got to say!

"I'm so narcissistic, when I fart I sniff it. Do a fake dab to smell my armpits, whiff it." I think Eminem makes a really good point in this video. People want him to mature, but when he does they want the old shit back. It's an endless cycle for the guy because you can't be pleased. That line is clever and funny, something Eminem should be expected to say but you isolated a single part of it and insult it. I didn't love the album as much as others but there are gems on it and it certainly doesn't lack good rap.

rainwolf034 oh I get him and he sold out a vast majority of his fans. He attacked Bush on Mosh and he was spot on but where was his anger at Obama when he spent more on the military than Bush did while saying he was going to pull out of the war which he never did. Now he attacks Trump as a racist which he was never accused of until he ran as a Republican and has been proven a false slanderous attempt by the left to discredit him. And over his stance on immigration which is the same exact stance both Clinton and Obama took when they were president in speech but failed to remedy. Then he says if we don’t agree with him we should all fuck off? Even those of us who have been fans since Slim Shady and stuck up for his right to say and believe what he wants. I’m just glad I saw him at the Up In Smoke tour because he made the decision to alienate his largest fan base and tell us not to support him anymore. I don’t care about his views even though misguided and would still support him even though I thought MM2 was really weak compared to Recovery. But he doesn’t like people telling him how to be but now wants to tell others how to think or else. If we had allowed the liberals like Tipper Gore to ban him or make him censor his lyrics he wouldn’t even have the stage to cypher on. That’s not growth that’s selling out your fans!!

Todd L several reports of him referring to Africa and Haiti as shitholes. But I suppose that's "fake news" and the politicians that heard him say it are lying right? Lol.. also doesn't it seem funny that he's so focused on immigration from countries with people of color? You don't hear him talking about Germany or Norway do you? Hell it wouldn't surprise me if he tried to deport the Navajo to India

That's always been Em's struggle though; it's what gives his music it's foundation. It's always been "fuck the world" vs. the insecurity he feels from not being respected like he feels he should be. He also holds other artists to higher standards so they can improve on their craft themselves. Granted, he comes off as an asshole while doing this, but if the ends justify the means... Lol But, that's the Em we've come to know and love over the years. I think that's why Revival didn't do the numbers it should have: A lot of his fans expected it to be the "revival" of the Em/Slim Shady we got on Kamikaze, not the emotionally vulnerable, politically charged Marshal Mathers with a shitton of pop features we got on Revival. Out of the 8 features on Revival, only 1 was another rapper. And even then Phresher only did the hook, didn't even have a verse on the album version. The other 7 features were all pop artists who are not known for doing Eminem-esque music. I remember when the track list came out even I was like, "what the hell? Ed Sheeran? Beyonce? Alicia Keys? Kehlani? X Ambassadors? Wtf is all this?" Most rappers have one or two pop features on their albums, usually for singles, but the rest of the tracks are straight rap with rapper features. And from that, along with Em not overall coming as "hard" as he has in the past, most people prematurely formed their opinions and decided it was going to suck before even listening to it. After going back and re-listening it's a solid album! Not one of his best, but I personally think it's better than Encore and Relapse.

Revival was more of a compilation of random styles to get him back in the game, hopefully his next project is more of a concept album (AND IS PRODUCED BY DRE!!!)

Eminem is so fuckin amazing. I love, love, love the man he's become. When he first came out, I related with him so fuckin much with all the rage and anger from the shit my parents put me through. His music was therapy for me and an outlet. And as he's grown and matured, I feel like I went through it with him. I don't see an "old eminem" or "new eminem". I just see a man who's evolved and grown for his own well being and for his daughters.

Em is a real one. Some might say the new album isn't for them and that's alright. You can't call it trash though because, who it's intended for will listen and like it. That demographic of people getting the message em is trying to convey is most important. You gotta give it up to him for using his position like he is. What he's doing for Hip-hop and for the culture is very calculated and wise. The guy is a genius, he knows what he's doing.

great interview, idc if people like the album or not, Eminem still trying hard and always says what's on his mind. I appreciate everything he does to this day cause I know he can't/won't be the Eminem he was in 2000s. We must accept that artists change like Em, Jay and more. If you can't listen to their new shit then don't but don't hate on these legends for not making the same music they did 15 years ago

Maybe as a person, but as an artist, absolutely not. It's great that he turned his life around and I'm all for him using his platform to speak out against social injustices in America, but I can't sit here an pretend that the music he's been making recently has been good.
@recca76 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't argue his music is better than what it was before. I think it's still decent though, but for him to rap the way he did before it would come at too great of a cost.

What I love about Em videos is that he isn't surrounded by fancy cars, mostly-naked chicks, he isn't wearing ostentatious clothes or enough chains/rings that he could support a small country if he sold them; no, it's literally just a man and his thoughts/words. He isn't even in a nice room on some extravagant couch! He's sitting on a folding chair in an empty, concrete-floored room just getting shit off his chest. This, to me at least, is what hip hop is about. Yeah, most rappers have the cars and clothes and jewelry and hoes, etc. but that's all secondary to what a rapper says and how he/she says it, or at least it should be. This is what old heads recognize, and why most old heads hold such disdain for the younger rappers who have shit lyricism, the same flow, simplistic rhyme schemes, few if any multis or internal rhymes, the same subject material, vocals that are autotuned to hell, no respect for the veterans who came before them, and are still blowin' up all over the radio thinking they're eligible for G.O.A.T. conversations. All these type of rappers need the cars, clothes, jewelry, hoes, and all that to be "artists" "for the culture", but the real OGs who built the fukn culture only need their mic skills and they still make these punk ass SoundCloud rappers look like little bitches on wax. No amount of amplified bass or seemingly dis-rhythmic snare can cover up the fact that you suck at your craft. Hip hop, real hip hop, is making a comeback though, and I really feel like Kamikaze had at least something to do with that.
